Halloween-Themed Tokyopop ARG?

via http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/CA6607237.html?nid=2789 Tokyopop is doing some form of viral promotion / ARG for the release of GOTH, as well as some of their other IPs such as Battle Royale.

Significant to the article:

Quote:
The dark themes of the story work well with the October release, as the book will be featured in Halloween display tables in Borders and Barnes and Noble. The manga will be included in an overall Halloween campaign on the Tokyopop website which includes Chibi Vampire, I Luv Halloween, and Battle Royale from the backlist, according to Pavia. For this title, Tokyopop also plans to use some viral marketing techniques in their online forums. Tokyopop has already started leaking clues into their forums to begin an alternate reality game.

Also from a press release to the AnimeNewsNetwork back in May:

Quote:
This genre-defying novel will be supported by an elaborate online marketing plan that will feature a macabre alternate reality game and viral campaigns across key social networking sites. GOTH: A Novel of Horror will appeal to fans of Japanese classics such as The Grudge and The Ring, and like all depraved, disturbing serial killings, will no doubt become the talk of the nation this fall.

A cursory look through the Tokyopop forums hasn't revealed anything, but then I just did a cursory look.

I had found that page too and searched through the forums as well but couldn't find anything. I left a comment to the writer asking where they got their information and was told "That's just what Pavia told me..." {Marco Pavia, Associate Publisher of TokyoPop} So, I don't know what to think.

I've been excited about this since rumors started going around earlier in the year. I can't wait! Very Happy
