How do you search for ARG's?

So I am reading through the N&R threads and I am seeing a lot of posts that start with " I was searching for an ARG and found this..." My question (as a newb) is this, where, how, what, do you search for when looking for a new ARG trailhead?

When you search youtube, how do you go about searching for something that may or may not be a TH? Do you use odd words as part of the search? do you look only under blogs?

I would love to be able to search for the start of these games but I am so lost when it comes to doing so. Maybe I am just not doing it right.

So enlighten me people, how do I search for ARG's on the interwebs?

Well, in my experience, I've found ARGs come to you more than you find an ARG. It's true, some ARGs can launch from a Google ad link, a random YouTube video you found - but more than often you get an email, IM, package, find it hidden in something you bought (like Year Zero).

I think the question was not "How do I find an ARG?" but "what are people using as search terms when they say they are specifically searching for an ARG?"

I assume they're just searching on the phrase "alternate reality game" or similar terms. Some trailhead sites really do put that in a meta tag in the source code. As for YouTube, I couldn't say, as that isn't something I've tried myself; I assume those kinds of search terms could be "conspiracy" or "mysterious". I think you end up with a lot of experimental film school projects instead of true ARG trailheads that way.

Yes this is what I was looking for. I have put my info into the contact thread and am waiting patiently for some response. In the mean time as I go thru the N&R thread it seems that some of the trailheads are started by somebody saying they found it while searching for an ARG. I was just curious as to what they were doing specifically to search for an ARG. Do you google specific words, phrases, text? Do you go to specific websites? What kind of things do you look for when searching out an ARG? What clues do you see that point that "this maybe a trailhead"? Is it a general "feeling" you get that something is a bit off on a website?

This question is for some of you who have been playing these for sometime and may have a bit more experience finding these games. Thank you I hope this helps clarify things.

IMO if you're actively "searching" for undiscovered trailheads, you're wasting your time, since typically these are found by people who just happen to stumble upon them by chance.

A lot of movies, TV shows, and video games create ARGs or a means of promotion, so if you notice something a bit unusual or out of place in any of the trailers or ads, go to google and search for what you saw.

Otherwise, you could spend countless hours looking through youtube videos and websites for a trailhead that doesn't exist.

So, its really a matter of trial and error?

I have posted my contact info here and have received emails for a couple of ARG's running now, which is really cool.
