Thought i could

If I recall correctly from when I was at home and watching, I didn't think that the writing was relavent, just some grafitti that happened to be there.

It seemed to me that the top line said
METALLICA with the A covered over somewhat,
and the second line rather resembled
"die m*th*erf*ck*r" with letters blurred and going into that symbol at the end.

About the video, was the object of dread house to survive inside until the end, or to find a way out? Because if the goal was to escape, it appears that the camera/person/POV of the video was almost about to get outside to daylight, before going back a bit towards that flashlight, and then...well...

It could just be my eyes playing tricks on me, but I'm seeing the letters "JC" near the end of the first line.

You know, you're right. It does resemble that a lot. It probably has no importance.

I created a text stereogram viewer. It's not ideal... it doesn't show depth really, but it works on the stereograms from this puzzle, and a few others that I've tried. Let me know if you find a problem with it.

/me puts this puzzle up in the ARG hall of fame for it's cool factor and uniqueness.

As XyzzySqrl said in chat "The puzzle whose solution really IS 'stare at it until you go crosseyed'".

Now, that being said...would each contestant have their own camera crew following them in the tunnels, or would they have been equipped with their own camera (we've seen those hooked up to Fear Factor people so we can get their view while performing a stunt)?

I'm thinking they'd each have their own cameras, kind of like Fear, on MTV a while back. I'm thinking that if a big part of this show was scaring the contestants, having a camera man around could be somewhat reassuring, but if it was just them all alone in the dark, it would be much scarier.

They had their own cameras. From www.dreadhouse.com :
Quote:
The idea behind Dread House was that the 13 players would start separated in different areas of the hospital, equipped only with a flashlight, a wireless video camera to record their movements, and a wireless PDA device, by which they would communicate and receive instructions and updates.

This hints that they likely would not have seen much of anyone throughout the course of the stay, which, in turn, leads me to believe that seeing a flashlight would have interested any contestant into following it.

[SPEC] could the guy with the flashlight be Old Todd?

I should have fought him, but instead I let him win

If this is a killing, it doesn't look supernatural in nature.

Unless, of course, the killer was possessed. With all the ghosts, that's completely possible.

Heck, it could have been an Alien AI that possessed a Ghost that possessed a person.

How about that for an ARG cross over? Laughing

[SPEC] I've been thinking some more about who Mr. Flashlight is . . . and what if it's not Old Todd at all . . . what if it's Charles?

I mean, asides from it being fairly out of character with the emails that folks have gotten . . . or IS it?????

DUH DUH DUUUUUUUUUUUUUH...

just throwing out some wild speculations, ignore it if it's absolutely retarded.

It ISN'T really.

He does not believe anything sent to him about Dread House.

He LOVES CMH, yet does not know a show was filmed there? For someone that pays so much attention to the place, he should have noticed.

Maybe he didn't like the idea of his place being subjegted to a reality TV show?

Wow! I'm gone for a day and the coolest ARG puzzle ever comes by. Good work, guys.

konamouse, is it about time to slap the [SOLVED] on this one? I'd do it, but due to the weird merged nature of this thread, I don't think I can.

Did anybody send their mailing address to jc? I bit the bullet and went ahead. This could get interesting.
