Isn't that second image just three crescent moons?
I don't believe it to be vigenere cypher, but it could be a false positive since there is so little content...
My cypheranalysis says that the most likely key length is 48 and that just doesn't seem right...

Itchy eyelids from a nite of no joy trying that extra letter as a keyword/keyletter cipher . So asked C. if we would get the "key".

yes.
patience.
fate is fickle. yet we will control it.
for every date a reason. for every location a story.

Well if "what IS: WILL BE" maybe it's that thecrescentIS will become thecrescentWILLBE?

video Title: CRESCENT003(4) with a tag even roads may wash away which begins with a b/w flash of 3 crescents. LINK HERE
There's also a flash of the familiar 'Y' location where the ferry used to unload.

It looks like Crescent filmed that himself, the last bit while standing at the bottom of the Y up against the river (the spot where the ferry unloaded), so does that mean he went and left the message? It would seem to make the most sense since the ferry sunk today.

I will be at that exact spot late wednesday night early thursday morning.
ETA: I was just told that thursday is too early and we already know the date. That's the only time I can actually stop at that location. I have to crew change that morning. Oh well.

Hmm, well scratch it being today then. So the 31st it is?
I'm almost always able to push around my schedule and be somewhere if need be. So I'm still happy to go for this. I'm not getting the "one become three" thing though.
And natas, I was laughing myself half sick over that Dahmer comment! We're gonna scare him off with all our insinuations that we're scared of him. Not that we should really be blamed for that though; all the sound effects, and dead people, and the creepy masks, and the Saw-like digitized voice certainly do give off the same vibe as a serial killer movie. And I just know that one of these days a real serial killer is going to stumble across ARGs and say to himself "Wow! What a great way to get victims to come right to me!" I'd like to see that movie anyway... [/babbling]

this ARG is slow moving. i wonder if three people have to go down, one to pick each message. risky day to choose - trick or treaters everywhere and fun halloween parties to go to.

That "1X 2X 3X" Youtube vid saying choose them wisely does suggest 3 peeps. Agree Halloween is a "tricky" day.
Bent over ROFLing@degravedi--and panting to play the viral ARG promoting that fun flic.

I logged into my YouTube account and found that I had a message from Crescent from the 20th (whoops!). However, it was titled "patience" and had the word "order" repeated 190 times in the text. So nothing really new and exciting I think.
(And sorry Crescent! I have new messages sending notices to my email, so I won't miss you again.)

I got a new YouTube message from Crescent today with the title "time" tha merely said "noon". I take it to mean noon on the 31st (why did it have to be Halloween!).
I will do my best to be at the location at exactly noon, but I do have some prior engagements. And I'm a little spooked to go out then too, and not because of the holiday. I've had the pleasure of witnessing how the NOPD react to people carrying around weird things like say, a shovel, on Halloween. I really don't want to try to explain to a stray cop that I'm REALLY not trying to cause any trouble contrary to what it may look...
Would the first be soon enough?? (And er, hint hint to Crescent: if you're braving going down there to bury it on Friday, you be careful too!)

degravedi, I grew up in that area (well, Destrehan, actually). You don't have to worry about the NOPD so much, as it's not part of New Orleans out there. That parish has its own police force, and if they're still anything like I remember when I used to live there, they're pretty lax. You would have to worry more about workers in the grain elevators wondering what you're doing digging "random" holes, I think. That's a pretty high industry area.

Well, I just got back. Unfortunately I have no message. I searched around everywhere in the near vicinity and couldn't find any place that would seem sensible to dig, certainly no place that looked like it had been dug up recently.
When I was driving down I got mixed up and ended up crossing the bridge by accident. So I didn't get there until about 12:10. So maybe it was supposed to be a live drop and he left? If so I think there's some head to keyboard contact coming.
Anyway, Amandel, that is an awesome Halloween card!
