Mardeaux--
Thanks for sending that email. I've been going in circles with different sets of numbers.

Hi! It's funny that you mention my CAS# emails. I just got the following reply back from Mr. Kressig...

Quote:
Mr. Mardeaux,

I have been reluctant to answer your latest request because we have had some human resources issues recently that have caused some confusion in this department.

As you may have heard, Dr. Janes, the Vice President of Scientific Development here -- and my boss -- has left us this week. My attention is currently on making sure we have full access to all of Dr. Janes' records on Passionix and the other research here.

Sincerely,
Doug Kressig

Trivia

In the videos, Bryson Grace doesn't have on a wedding ring, but in his photo on the How to Get Involved page (here with brown suit) he does appear to be wearing a wedding ring.

The blind beggar in this week's Kindness video blinks a lot and has dark eyes; I suspect the actor may have been fitted with opaque theatrical contact lenses for pseudo blindness to enhance his performance. Cool

Wow. It looks like Dr. Kressig is working late. Things must be extremely stressful at the Passionix labs. This was sent to me just now, 10:59P PDT...

Quote:
Mr. Mardeaux,

As I said in my last missive, Dr. Janes has recently left our organization. This has understandably led to a lot of questions. I had some myself. After having some time to myself in Dr. Janes office I have found some partial answers. Due to legal issues, I cannot release that information to you. I'm sure you understand. If you have any other questions, please refer to our "common questions" on the Passionix site. I hope you can find the answers you seek there. It is of the utmost importance to me that you, and all our customers, understand Passionix and find it as an antidote for what ais them.

Sincerely and Hopefully,
Doug Kressig

Edit: The name of Justin Janes has been marked through on the Common Questions page. I sent a reply to Douglas, imploring him to let me know if, in his research, he found that Passionix is unsafe. In spite of any legal issues he may face, he owes it to the users to report anything potentially dangerous. My 'son', who is coincidentally named Kevin, is counting on him to do the right thing. Smile

I think that might perhaps just be a hint to use the form to get to the rejected FAQ with the Passionix ingredients... bringing us back to the CAS RNs. Confused

Bruce, I think you're right. We've come back full circle and I think we just need to figure out the correct CAS numbers and mash the numbers together properly. I've tried every conceivable combination I could think of to no avail.

We do, however, have a likely confirmation on one fact. I do believe that Douglas Kressig is Karmacist. Here's his last (and probably really last) reply to me on the Passionix topic - sent this morning at 8:37A PDT.
Quote:
Mr. Mardeaux,

I prayed over your response last night. I, too, have a son named Kevin. I'd do anything to keep him safe and happy. Sometimes I worry I've done too much. But, putting a strike through that emotion, I know that the Lord and my employers are watching over me, as spiritual parents, and that I cannot reveal company secrets over e-mail.

Please understand.

Sincerely,
Doug Kressig

Hey, new girl here. My youth pastor told me about Citizens of Virtue yesterday, so I've been trying to catch up.

One thing I noticed in Kressig's last e-mail that may or may not mean anything is where he says "putting a strike through that emotion," which sounds like drawing a line through something. Could he mean that there are clues that you have to strike through to uncover?

As for today's DI, the first thing that jumps out at me is that they misspelled "what" in the last line as "hwat." Perhaps they're indicating that some of the other letters need to be shifted around? Or it could be saying "lift to you one weed" if you looked at the first word of each line and replaced the "h" in "heed" with a "w." That could be referring to the warning about how Passionix reacts badly with cannabinoids? Not sure how that would fit in or if I'm just being crazy here. XD

Another thing about the video for Kindness that stuck out at me which may or may not help render any clues is that, while the reference verse is in Matthew, Pastor Grace gives the blind man a coat and tells him to "be safe and warm as you pledge your service to the Lord." This could refer to the passage in the book of James.

Quote:
James 2:15-17 -
15 Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Maybe you could use the chapter and verse numbers in the CAS puzzle?

A thought on today's DI ... possibly not right, but if not, it might be close enough to get somebody else on the right track:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
At first I thought it was a three-part charade, but now I'm thinking (partly because we've already had a charade) that it's a word that's had its first three letters deleted ("after three pieces"). I have A-LIST as the answer; it's clued by "chosen people" (with "lean over" also suggesting ALIST); "what you always were", if you were singing to the heavens, was a VOCALIST.

Here's a possible tweak, though it's still a stretch:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Instead of meaning "alist", if "lean over" could clue a reversal, then we would have:
"Three pieces" "leaned over" + "the chosen ones" yields a singer
"CoV" reversed + "A-list" = "vocalist"

"CoV" of course standing for Citizens of Virtue. The answer would then be "vocalist".

I just realized this also gives us letter counts of 5-6-7-8 for this week's DIs. So maybe a 9-letter homonym tomorrow?

just a reminder, let's try to keep spoiler tags for actual spoilers - solutions or sensitive plot revelations; theories and speculation aren't spoilers, and just makes a thread tedious to read when they're all hidden Wink
tnx!

I haven't missed the solvation yet, have I? I only just now had the chance to look -- what stands out for me are all of the H words, and the "hwat" is just a pointer back to them.

I think this is a fairly solid solution:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Lift your hymnal high and sing to Heaven!
After three pieces {those 3 H's? or the letters which follow them: y-i-e-?},
you will lean over {take L from lean, and D from done}

therefore: YIELD and become one of the chosen ones,

I just don't know if the last line applies to that meaning:
"but heed hwat you always were."

That's an interesting solution, but it seems too complicated, and not really in the style of a lot of the past solutions.

Also, I wouldn't put much stock in "hwat" -- we've seen a number of typos in the DIs so far, and I expect this is just another one.

No solutions from me yet, but some ideas that might spur someone to greatness I cannot seem to achieve myself. heh.

After three pieces - maybe instead of pieces we are supposed to substitute for the word 'compositions'? Maybe three pieces means a trio or a chord (a chord consists of at least 3 notes played together).

Lean over - another word for this is 'bow' as in 'bow down'.

I'm not sure about the rest, other than the redeemed are the chosen of God. Those whom He calls by His name. Hrmm. Maybe 'sanctified'? It means to be set apart (chosen). Or a Saint?

Heeding what you always were could mean being a sinner.

Am I on the wrong track?

A little more nudging methinks... new post by Lila on the gardenwall
Quote:
Hello all you wonderful people! A little birdie (you know who you are!) told me that some of Xander's friends inside the Citizens wants us to send socks to World Relief Atlanta http://atlanta.wr.org/. I think that's a wonderful idea! I will send in a few pairs myself and put World Relief Atlanta down as one of my current charity projects. I may even get some of the gals to handknit some socks for the group. Anyway, let's show the Citizens what truly Virtuous deeds are. And that's not the horse crap they try to pass off as Virtue. Passionix indeed.

Also supported by Xander:
Quote:
Any luck with the next member of the Seven? Is it Douglas Kressig? What's going on? I've been helping Aunt Lila with some new charity thing. She's collecting socks now. Says you all got her involved. Anyway, let me know if you've got any questions for me and I'll do my best to rock them out. Peace.

(wr.org was reg'd in '95, it's a legit organization; just in case anyone might wonder =P)
