[TRAILHEAD?] clawshunindustries.com

Once in a while, I get email I cannot quite classify. Usually I either get personal stuff, or stuff I have signed up to receive, or spam. Once in a while I get something that doesn't seem to fit into any of these categories, and I give it a good once over for ... and this time I think it's worth mentioning.

MEET CLAWSHUN INDUSTRIES

As you probably already know, Six Flags New England is closing for the season after this weekend (October 31st – November 2nd), and if you count yourself a rollercoaster fan, then you will surely want to take the opportunity to experience the Superman: Ride of Steel one last time before it's changed forever.

Clawshun Industries is excited to announce that we will be developing a whole new vision for Superman: Ride of Steel. Although our efforts won't be unveiled until Memorial Day, 2009, Clawshun would like to invite you to take a moment this weekend to check out our construction site, grab a brochure and learn more about the up-and-coming corporation that is CLAWSHUN INDUSTRIES.

This attraction has won the Golden Ticket Award for Top Steel Coaster for the past three consecutive years and has thrilled thousands upon thousands of visitors to the park. However, it is time for a change, and Clawshun Industries is the only one for the job.

Our CEO, John Exler Espada, could not be more excited about the endeavor, yet he remained tight-lipped when it came to discussing specifics. "Change is in the air," hinted Espada, "can you feel it? Come next year, the theme park world will stand up and take note and, this weekend, you have the chance to see history BEFORE it's made."

We'll see you there!

Hopping over to http://clawshunindustries.com, you can see some more talk of the Superman: Ride of Steel overhaul, and find a link to http://www.metropolisstockexchange.com/, which doesn't feature much at the moment (other than a stock ticker with stock names and symbols that are sometimes from Metropolis, and sometimes just really funny). Not much to go on yet, but maybe it's a beginning?

EDIT: Spacing

Metropolis, Daily Planet... Look, up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's... a Superman ARG! Is there a new movie schedualed? Or could the ARG be for the roller coaster?

... or is this all related to the possible Wonder Woman viral over here?

Sadly, looking at the whois information (what little of it there is), I don't think that's the case. www.wonder-who.com was registered by GoDaddy on the 9th of October, while these two sites were registered wednesday. Plus the servers (not that it means much, I'll grant you) are in the US for wonder-who, and sweden for this.

You'd think if they were going to do it, they'd register them all at the same time.

But, then, I could be wrong. They are both GoDaddy, registered with DomainsbyProxy as their contact info.

edited to correct location of servers

I guess it's the roller coaster, Six Flags announces the redesign on their homepage:

Quote:
...Since its debut in 2000, Superman: Ride of Steel has electrified guests from around the world. In 2009, this incredible machine will be redesigned with imaginative special effects and newly renovated trains. ...

And you can get a share of Clawshun tomorrow at the Metropolis Stock Exchange. For free. They want to drive the price up to $1000. Funnily, the scroll at the top of the Metropolis Stock Exchange page doesn't List Clawshun yet; maybe tomorrow is the first day it will be trading??

I'm not sure how giving out free shares drives up the price... (unless it's a scam to fool people into investing by showing a great deal of activity in the stock. Wink )

I called the number given on the site on the about us page:

Quote:
It's about time to celebrate and reward the can-do work ethic in all of us. Join us, won't you? Contact Clawshun Industries today at (877) 895-3755

There was a very general message that says they are the development company with a heart of gold, they don't take incoming messages, asks you to visit the website or if you happen to be in Metropolis to stop by the home office at the corner of Justice Street and American Way.

In completely unrelated news, Six Flags reported that it was notified by the NYSE that it isn't in compliance with listing standards. The stock is trading well under $1.00. I expect they aren't the only company this has happened to in this economy...just a funny coincidence with the direction of this marketing focused on a fictional stock market.

At any rate, I seriously doubt that six flags is spending money promoting a ride that won't open until next summer. They aren't even paying dividends to their preferred shareholders. My vote is that it possibly part of the Wonder Woman viral. Maybe Warner Bros. picked up on the redesign of the Superman ride?

Edit to add: Did anyone email Mitch and ask for a copy of the brochure?

There are a couple of YouTube clips relating to Clawshun Industries:-

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6asOCepqfGs

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ELudYTI9Tc8

I'm at work, and have no sound here, so I've no idea what they say.

EDIT: I also noticed a thread on a rollercoaster site discussing the Superman ride. One of the posters is a "dont_trust_clawshun". I suspect, having read the comments, he or she is OOG, but thought it worth mentioning.

That link to the rollercoaster fan site is really helpful. Someone mentions that a viral campaign was done for another roller coaster, so maybe this is just for that roller coaster...seems unlikely to me though.

Anyway, one post mentioned what happened at Six Flags. I have to quote it because I can't figure out how to link individual posts from that site:
Quote:

i was at six flags this weekend and they had protestors handing out flyers which said:

Save our heroes - save our ride!

For years, the superman ride of steel has thrilled rollercoaster fans who come to Six Flags from all over the world. But now, they're taking it away from us. Who are they? a shady development company called Clawshun Industries, thats who.

They have no right to take away our coasters!

Who's behind this scheme? what kind of people could possibly hold Superman in such disregard? what exactly are they planning?

We need to stop them before they ruin our park.

So, sign the petition, get involved and help us expose Clawshun Industries for what it really is: a collection of suits willing to mortgage our dreams in exchange for a few more dollars..

go to http://clawshunindustries.com

After hours they had an ace event and 3 protesters where inside the theater and making a big scene as Larry Litton was making his presentation. Something is definitely up...they wouldn't say anything about the transformation but Superman is no more after this year making me think they are gonna change the name...but I am not sure..keep checking the clawshun industries website they kept saying....that was about it....

And this sitehas a summary of Clawshun info.

this link: the Six Flags New England forums has lots of info and photos:

More Youtube stuff, this time, as far as I can tell, it's some bigwig from Six Flags announcing the new ride. Again, I can't hear what's being said.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2oemS5NO3zs

Also, I found this on some sort of Six Flags forum:-

http://sfneonline.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=383&st=160

Which has a number of images, including some development notices around the Six Flags park that have been put up by Clawshun Industries.

EDIT:- Oops, just noticed that rose had already posted the sfneonline link Embarassed
