Well thanks for going. Are we sure that this was the right date and area? I'm sure we'll hear from Crescent before too long now. I hope

I took a bunch of mostly meaningless pictures, but at least you guys can see what the area looks like.
http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w174/degravedi/Crescent/
The only even mildly interesting things I found were a few footprints. It was mostly just interesting to me because they've been there a little while, had no visible tread to identify them by, and were exactly my shoe size. Like I had walked around down there sometime when it was muddy and didn't remember. Ah, man how boring life would be if it weren't for overactive imaginations...
Anyway, the only other thing to note is that after Google cached its satellite photo, the distinctive Y pattern has since disappeared. The top two legs that would have led down to River Road are gone except for about a foot wide strip down near the street where the asphalt hasn't been torn out. So the hillside is uniformly covered in grass (just for anyone else that might end up going out there, so you're not looking for a landmark that doesn't exist).
Edit: Also, I didn't add this since I got it right after my post about being worried about the cops and figured it was just telling me I had to take the chance, but you never know what's important.

Crescent's footprints? They actually look like they've been there for a while.

I am not pleased
So, I fail. Maybe someone better than me should go out instead.

Naha--not in my eyes, degravedi. Thanks bigtime for all the pics and your stealthy work.

Thank you so much amandel , really and truly. That was very kind of you. I'm getting over feeling like an idiot.
However, I'm the first to admit that I'm lacking in whatever is required to find this message. So, I've been going over (and over) Crescent's videos but have still yet to find anything to help me.
I figure that the message still has to be in place as I doubt some passerby is going to dig random holes and find it. So as I'm one of the few physically here, I'm willing to call myself a "tool" if anyone else can point me to the exact location I should be digging.
(And just to be all inclusive, I've had no more notes from Crescent, so I suppose he's waiting until the message is found.)

new video The vid is titled CRESCENT003(5) . It' personally tagged with degravedi so I'll leave it to their interpretation.
Yet these are the only spots I can isolatate which are NOT marked with a large X . Also Crescent flash at approx. 3secs. in.

Aww, how sweet! Well, I guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow. Once again, I'll report back as soon as possible.

So one freeze frame is of a pile of rocks and it says "these bear no messages." No messages on those rocks. So maybe the marker is a rock in another location?

I planned on heading out first thing this morning, but it's pouring like gangbusters outside. Sorry guys, it's going to have to wait just a little longer.

The message has been retrieved! It was a CD buried about an inch below a stone marked "78" in the area that the likewise marked picture indicated. I was going to take a photo of it in the ground, but my camera decided it didn't think that was a very good idea. However, I was able to get a shot here at home. Phew! I've never been to a dead drop before / been able to personally find live clues; I think it's more of a rush than bungee jumping!
The CD contained a video named "keys.mov" viewable here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jo5AwIyXVbg
Quote:
{hurricane footage}

1 location each
{video of each location
1 nondescript?
2 6612
3 Four Hundred}
3 become 1
{picture of a key}
{code}
who will lead us to the end?
The key corresponds with the code in CRESCENT003(3) ; lining up the numbers under each row and using the letters above them in numeric order you get {zero lines removed}:
Code:
IMKNTAEVQILOWECBGLPOV
603002450010870000000 = LAKEVIEW
OHJAPLWSMNRINAHSMXRAW
800000170956032000400 = WHARRISON
BNPROFRIVXLEQZMPLAWLE
100000760048000035002 = BELLAIRE
YF H Q T TKOI H IPSEHWGRBAT
60[10]0[11]1003[12]80072094005 = THIRTYEIGHTH
UTISQWGHDFLPREQMBHJDHR
0000000000000000000001 = R+AIN down = RAIN
Lakeview is a neighborhood that got hit very badly during Katrina, quite a number of the houses are still defunct. Adding the address numbers from the Keys video to the names from the code gives street addresses, and they're all within a few blocks of each other.
1. {358} W Harrison Ave. (map ) The address is approximate but you can clearly see that it's the same building using Google's "street view."
2. 6612 Bellaire Dr. (map )
3. 400 38th St. (map )
No idea about the "rain" part though. Is there an Aztec date that corresponds to rain?
EDIT : There is indeed a Rain daysign http://www.azteccalendar.com/day/Quiahuitl.html The next Rain day is Tuesday the 11th. Are there two more people here that can get to the other two locations??

Good job, degravedi. Score!
"a day of relying on the unpredictable fortunes of fate?" Our fates hurtling towards Crescent's? This guy is spooky.
