It was suggested in an earlier message about setting up a map. I have started, but haven't gotten too far at http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=2. Click on 39 Clues to get started. All are welcome to edit and argue where points are supposed to go.

Yep, that was me that suggested it. I am rather new to google maps. I have readily created POI for my own maps, but had great difficulty collaborating on what you setup. I searched in the help, but I couldn't figure it out. For the life of me, I still don't know how to get the toolbar to show up to add a POI. It showed up long enough for me to plop down a few points around Loch Ness.
I am assuming that the 39 clues that you set up is at this url.

If you are referring to the musical notes, go to My Cards & ADD this Code: G69CKR3K9T. This is Card #405. It has the info you are looking for.

Click on 39 Clues to open the map. Click Edit. This will open the toolbar up to add or change points on the map.

To help people along and to keep the branches separated:
Lucian = red, Ekat = Yellow, Janus = Green, Tomas = Blue, Cahill = pink.

There must be something there

A couple of thoughts: How long do you figure Grace had the clue in the US? It says that Anne/Nella gave Grace the clue because George McClain was snooping around. I tried to find something out about George McClain, but in the Cahill website, there are no links returned when searching his name. Strange. When I looked at his card, the card now states that he is from "Loch Ness, Arkansas", while the text still refers to Experiment, GA. I looked on google maps and there is are a bunch of street names begining with "Loch" in Mountain Home, Arkansas, one of which is Loch Ness.

In 1912, Anne was 18, which means that in 1982, she would have been 88. I would have thought at that age, she would have been out of the clue guarding business.

And that's enough for now.

Good catch. I emailed them and they will be changing the information sometime this month.

Just my 2 cents

I think you are missing another group - the madrigals. I think the madrigals are the protectors of the prize and look to it that the prize goes to the most worthy of the Cahills. Mr Mcintyre could be one of those keepers, as assumed that he is a Cahill as indicated at the reading of the will.

I do think Nellie is a Cahill - knowing that the lucian branch claims that (someone close to them) knows about what Amy and Dan are up to. And that Nellie has that serpent nose ring and could change to a dragon. - which could mean that she is a madrigal, a double agent if you will.

OK, go to P.15 of the Postings. You'll find the answer.

I may be missing something, but until I do a search for 39 clues, there is no link to click on. You didn't answer my question about whether or not the link I sent was correct. I looks like it probably is. Suggest that probably this URL: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&gl=us&ptab=2&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=100939032829642151774.00045ad20f12027633f02 might be a better way to have people access the map.

How do you make the distinction for when you make a point a certain color? For instance, I thought we determined that we don't know what branch Dan and Amy belong to. When in doubt, or if there are multiple branches use pink for Cahill?

I noticed you removed the line? Do you figure that it would get too complicated and criss-cross itself too much?

LOL. This is what they told me when I reported the error:

Quote:
The 39 Clues help team is available to help with technical problems and general game assistance, but unfortunately cannot provide hints or answers to problems. We suggest you ask friends, parents, or teachers for help.

I think they just started giving me the standard answer because I have reported so many errors/inconsistencies (asking for a free card each time Laughing ). My last email I asked if I should stop pointing out bugs, errors, inconsistencies. Their response:
Quote:
We always appreciate your feedback and sharp eyes, but unfortunately we can't give out cards for every error.

So, they seem to be admitting that it was an error, but I wonder if they purposely aren't fixing it right away. Maybe they need for it to be contradictory for some aspect of the game? I will be watching to see which they change -- the text under the card or the card itself.

Why do you think we are missing the Madrigals? There have been several postings with suggestions/theories about what part they play. I like your idea that the Madrigals are protectors of the prize. I prefer that theory to madrigals as double agents.

I missed that Nellie could be a Lucian (someone posted that a little earlier -- I have no recollection of the nose ring). I didn't even remember that the Lucians claim to have someone that knows what Amy and Dan are up to. Now that you mention it though, while I was reading the book, I recall thinking that it was the Aunt Beatrice. I really must read the second book more closely. Perhaps I should re-read The Maze of Bones. If Nellie were really keeping tabs on D&A, wouldn't she have insisted that she go with them everywhere in Paris?

What happened? Did you get tired of sitting back and watching everyone else have fun theorizing? Wink

Water Wheel behind George McClain

Since I found that the castle behind Anne Cahill was a real castle on Loch Ness, I have been trying to find a water wheel in the area. From what I can tell, the castle does not have a water wheel. I have logged hours searching for all different sorts of of mills in Scotland to no avail -- until today. Very Happy
Check out this pic: http://flickr.com/photos/39134345@N00/385838591/
I think that this water wheel (at Preston Mill, East Lothian) is the one that George McClain stands by in Mission 1. It is not close to Loch Ness or anything in Mission 1. I had thought that it might be important, but not so sure any more. It is just so far away from the rest of the action. Does anyone else think this is the right water wheel?

Yes, this is the correct link. I will be shortly be putting it into my signature so that everybody has the link. It is a public map so everyone, like yourself who has already added to the map, should be able to access and add.

Amy and Dan, until we find out what branch they belong to, are Cahills, therefore they will stay pink. If it's a head office, e.g. Lucian, it becomes the color of the branch. If one group is involved, e.g. Irina & Kabras, then it's their color.

Quote:

Yes, though I may put the lines back in to show the movements. The problem with that is the books are based from Amy and Dan's viewpoint and we don't see what the other characters movements are throughout the series.

If someone has a better idea of organizing it so that anybody looking at it will understand what is going on, please feel free to express them prior to reorganizing. We have 9 more books till the end.

Thanks, Maggie

Hey thanks, Maggie, the 2 cards you sent me arrived in the post this morning Very Happy Now my youngest has a full set like his older brother. I hope the ones I sent you arrive soon.

BTW, with all this talk about sunken ships etc, I thought I would mention for those who don't already know that Fiske (Grace's favourite younger brother who went missing 15th April 1962) means 'fish' in Norwegian. Might not mean anything but its a pretty unusual name for a person, especially when his sisters have such normal, old-fashioned names.
