Hate is a strong word...can't you just loathe them necessarily?

EDIT: Needless to say, every time I visit the soviet website I have people at work thinking I'm a commie....well, that and the hammer and cycle tattoo on my forearm.

IG Responses

I'm getting nervous about this game, seeing it's going real slow and there seems to be no responses to the e-mails I've sent. Besides those few mails from the psychosis trio about not being a music band, have you received any?

I'm guessing that this email has to do with this thread.

Ok, now I have more

I just had a little chat with Natasha.

To sum it up, she'd like the cover translated. I told her I'd get back to her. I felt a little lost...but I'm hooked now so I'll pay more attention!

If anyone can help translate, please let me know..or just email it to her.

Contents of the chat enclosed..

I agree, the "technical difficulties" page of soviet-star.com is very Eklipse Global. Very awesome.

Has anyone tried destegging the picture of the binder cover? I was wondering if that could be applied to this, seeing as the file size for that picture kind of big. Just a thought, maybe not a good one, but a thought.

Well I can't figure out that first or last word, but Совершенно сёкретно = Top Secret.

as I posted in a new thread (not thinking it might actually be related here since it's a new person's name)...

best I could do, manually entering russian letters:

[??] Совершенно сёкретно = "[??]: Top secret"

translating the letters in the lower right, in english google translates Лагшмивара as Lagshmivara, and a few hits match, typically typed as such: LagSHmiVAra

No idea what it is though.

First, both images (cover.jpg and the SovStar error) totally confuse stegdetect. FWIW.

So we've essentially got: Variant: Top Secret.

A Soviet first name list gave me: "Lagshmivara: Lager' Shmidta v Arktike (Shmidt's camp in the Artic)" But I don't know what that means... Link.

There's a Shmidt Subglacial Basin and a Schmidt Point in the antarctic named after "Soviet academician, Professor Otto Yu. Shmidt (1891-1956)." More... "Director of the Arctic Institute at Leningrad, 1930-32, Head of the Chief Administration of the Northern Sea Route, 1932-39, and leader of many Arctic expeditions." (All wikipedia).

Again, don't know what this buys us, but maybe more pages?

On the other hand, Natasha seems sort of clueless, so maybe the best thing would be to say there isn't enough to go on and ask for some more info?

Opinions?

I just sent Natasha this:

Hello Natasha,

So my email was in this folder you found? I'm trying to work out a
translation now, but I can't get ahold of any of my Soviet
acquaintances... What kind of pictures are in this?

I'll keep working on this,

I tried with some guesses, "psychosistrio," "ussr," "cccp," "schmidt," "soviet," "sovietstar," "misha," and "democracy" but got nothing Sad
