Start pulling, Xaren. I've answered you IG and am now also trying to extricate myself.

EDIT: I'm free! Thank you, Xaren. That was close. Leading you over to the mouth of the bull now.

Just decided IG that I don't like you to be in there so long and started pulling Wink We have you safe in a minute.

EDIT Thanks for the hugs, Nuala. It was really brave of you to go inside.

We have a small silver bell. No idea what it goes to on this end. Ideas?

EDIT: Brazen bull, minotaur (half-bull). The labyrinth might not be a bad idea at all Xaren.

Maybe it is needed in the attic or the labyrinth? But I am not sure.

EDIT Maybe we can call the minotaur with it to keep those safe who walk through the labyrinth at the moment?

EDIT2 Elliot is with us too, I took him with me.

Andrea's key unlocked one of the doors here in the basement. XaRen and I are about to inspect it with Andrea in tow. I'll edit my post if we find anything important.

EDIT:
Quote:

The room is smaller than the other two basement rooms, and seems to have served the purpose of some sort of maintenance closet before it was retrofitted to be some sort of shrine.

Within this room lies two small statuettes of minotaurs, some incense burners, as well as some sort of display case.

Yeah, Sareff and I were just walking along and we heard a growl. Sareff took charge and started picking up the pace.

According to legend, the Minotaur was placed at the center of the Labyrinth, so we should be safe as long as we don't go there. Still, I highly doubt the minotaur is a real entity. Perhaps the growling is a special-effect of Joshua's to scare us.

If I get fangoriously devoured by a gelatinous monster I will know I was wrong. Razz

And yes, I am channeling Velma...

Thanks for keeping an eye on me!
Nuala you're so brave!

Wasn't a bell found somewhere else by someone else? Does it ring a bell with anyone? (I kill me!)

We just rang the bell down here. And the quote I got was "Nothing of note happens where you are" which I find suspicious. So before I put the bell in the empty display case I rang the bell twice more. If the minotaur bellows twice more, we'll know there's a connection.

Welcome Back Andrea! And it was nothing. I had a feeling I'd end up torturing myself in that bull. Curiosity wouldn't let me not test my theory. I'm just really glad Xaren was there so I had help getting out.

Need some help with a puzzle here...

I'm in the pipe room behind the third floor statue... I have four pipes, each with a valve and a letter. One is marked P, one is marked A, one is marked T, and one is marked I.

The letters were in red in Landy's email, not sure if that's significant. Any ideas on where to start?

I notice two things, Illy, though I don't think it'll solve it but it should help...

In House of Leaves (which has been referenced numerous times so far-- most notably for me when he told me that the hallway leading to the third floor took approximately five and a half minutes to walk) the word minotaur in some versions was written in red ink.

Pati is the latin form of passion and suffering. See here. Which makes me think of the other puzzle SUFFERING-PASSION= ?

I haven't been able to think it entirely through since I took some painkillers because my fibromyalgia is flaring hard but I'll keep brainstorming.

How are they arranged? Or are they on the floor? P.A.T.I. is probably your best option, as noted by the lovely Nuala. What say you?

The letters are on the pipes, one above each valve.

Arhg! This cold keeps making me fall asleep on the bus!@# I disappear for a few hours and there's like 5 pages!

Anyhow - in regards to House of Leaves which I am just starting to read, I want to point out again that the floor plan with the foyer etc has three rooms that have their square footage on them... doesn't seem accidental Wink also a few other things stand out... While I don't want to bash our dear landlords image editing skills, there are a few places where tiled floors don't match up... I am ignoring those and instead rather point out things that look odd without the possibility of it being mismatched tiling related..

exhibit a) the black line in between the men and women's restrooms... the line extends down like an arrow to the red chair...

exhibit b) also near that black line, if you look to the left of it in the hallway, there are two little "smudges" that seem really out of place...

exhibit c) most corners have white dots in them... going to ignore the corners that don't... but there are places where the walls have white dots in odd places... half way through the study, north east corner area of the sitting room and library, and some odd things on the north wall of the rec room (though i may be wiling to ignore those...)

any thoughts?
