[SPEC] Two or four AI?

Please don't flame if this has been posted before, it's so hard to sort through the whole of this site.

It seems to me that the Princess and the Flea might be parts of the original Operator program that were (seperated?) when SPDR (the widow) Repaird her/it. That would make the Operator, Princess and Flea all parts of what was once a whole AI. The princess would be the human-ness that seems to be the trademark of Halo AI, and the Flea would be the part of the operator that wants to reunite all of the fractured peices.

I think you're onto something, but to tie it into the Halo/Marathon world a little more, I'd venture that each of these AI's is an individual AI aboard whatever ship they're from, i.e. Durandal, Leela and Tycho aboard the Marathon. The Pious Flea would be similar to Tycho, who was in charge of mundane crap like opening doors and regulating oxygen and apparently didn't have much of a personality. They are both more utilitarian AI's rather than ones that are meant to interact with people and simulate a personality.
This is all far out spec, but it might be relevant if the Halo and Marathon and ILoveBees world are all indeed one and the same.

The idea that Princess/Melissa are "related" is being discussed in the awareness thread, the Princess/Melissa relationship thread and a few others.

Not sure of any IG material support the Flea/SPDR being integral so much as processes which can effect each other and the other AIs.

Must also add that, if the goal of the Pious Flea was to reunite all four entities, then tricking Melissa into destroying SPDR was a lousy start. Mr. Green

This makes no sense. In the Halo universe, it is EXTREMELY rare for a ship to have more than one AI on it. The Master Chief himself lived past the age of thirty before he ever even saw more than one AI in the same place at the same time, and that was in the biggest, best base in the UNSC. Captain Keyes in the book The Fall of Reach is VERY surprised that The Pillar of Autumn is given its own AI even though Cortana is going with them - even though that AI was never activated due to later events. To think that whatever ship the Operator was on had not just one, but three AI's...it is really farfetched in the Halo Universe.

All I know of the Halo verse is the game, which I have just recently played and beat. But in the beginning of that game, Cortana says before she is removed, that the Captain should let her subsystems take care of landing and manuevers. I think that may be the kind of AI being discussed here. Correct me if I am mistaken though.

Those subsystems couldn't be called AIs, I believe. They were created for one specific purpose, in one very specific instance. Cortana cooked those up on the fly, and they wouldn't be much more use then allowing the partially damaged Pillar of Autumn to crash land onto Halo.

I don't think they have an "intelligence" to speak of. But, since it is hinted the Flea doesn't have much intelligence, I think these sort of "expert systems" could be an adequate analogue for the Flea. I think of the Flea as little more intelligent then a virus, digging into Melissa's mind and soul, and replacing bits and pieces of it with Covenant programing.

(Me again) Something one of my freinds pointed out.
The because of its actions, the flea being part of the whole original AI doesnt make sense, but it would make sense if the flea was the virus that Mellisa mentioned to Cap. Greene. That would only make the Princess and Mellisa related, because i think that SPDR is more like the automated subsystems that chaotic_mind mentioned. SPDR's job is to repair Mellissa, but the virus (flea) fears that mellisa might be able to stop it if she is repaired.
