it might not be. it might just have been meant to lead us to the youtube girl. and some programs when it's not stegged says it needs a password btw.

Oh! No, it's not decompression, you see its a kind of program that hides files in the background of pictures. You need a password to dig them out. Check out the ARG tutorial up in the box at the top left of your screen. It explains it better than I do.

Not sure if anyone has answered this yet in the previous 2 pages but you seem to be trying to steg the file lol, this isn't needed. Shy was wondering if perhaps the PM/IG Character had perhaps stegged it for US to 'desteg' it lol

so, I still have no idea what's going on here. I don't think the image is stegged though. I feel like we are walking in on the middle of something.

But, maybe they are setting someone up as a Femme Fatale?

Yeah, I'm thinking there's nothing in the image at all.

Maybe we're putting WAY too much thought into this. Maybe Agent Penn is really just looking for some general information instead of something complex.

Anyone want to just email him the description of the image and the note? The worst thing he can do is tell us that we're wrong... Or hunt us down and kill us, but that's besides the point.

I sent him a base description and he sent back this e-mail:

"Well done, Analyst.

Others believe data is embedded in the image. Different passwords have been tried, but not different clients to decode it.

This Linc clown has already taken too much sleep from me. But they won't let me beat the information out of him.

--P"

Sooo... yeah. I'm not trying to be a smart-alack, bu there it is. As far as passwords go, I have no freaking clue.

EDIT!!!- He has two tickets to Venezuela! We might need to find his second passenger before we can get all of the information.

Edit again- There's a forum dedicated to these books and they've started a thread for us! http://welcometothevelvet.com/forum/showthread.php?p=81219#post81219 Yay!

BTW- The picture is definitely Jude at the hotel bar at the Hotel Peacock.

I got it!!!!

"jude" was the answer - I used the Hide in Picture program to desteg it.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/hide-in-picture/

I tried that crypture one and I didn't get anything

i don't know why that worked when others didn't - maybe the program did it a certain way?

Friggin' weird. I tried "jude" even after reading this. Well what ever.

Thomas -

You're still alive. How did you survive Chicago? I mean, it's a good thing, right? It's just been so long I can barely remember what we both looked like then. It's different, now.

I don't know what I could possibly say to you to make everything right again. You followed me in and I never treated you the way I should have. In my defense, I can smell the alcohol coming off you from here. Finesse has never been your strong suit.

If only you could play the guitar or something, you know? I could be looking past all this. (Drums don't count.)

I've been running for too long. I've had too many close calls. I miss having a somewhat-normal living situation. I miss not having to constantly look over my shoulder. I miss having a car, home, flatmates. I miss it all.

I know you're working with someone else, now. Whatever they're about, it doesn't matter. What they pulled off last week was enough for me, at least for now. I want to come in. There's so much I know that they don't. I can help them, but they have to be able to protect me.

I don't want to do it alone. You're really the only person I know who... I don't know. But if someone can bring me in, I'd like for it to be you.

Can we meet, just the two of us, before I figure out what I'm going to do? Somewhere east. Chapter Thirty-Five. A cozy sleeper car.

-7

I look at the book.

Edit- The cozy little sleeper car pops up page 74 and page 271. 74 talks about El paso. Page 271 isn't in the book preview that I'm reading. Someone else will need to check that. I'm sending an e-mail now.

Great job! I am so glad someone found the right software! Jude was the password?

Now we are looking at the text itself. Looks like more puzzle to me. What do ya think?

From letter.txt

Can we meet, just the two of us, before I figure out what I'm going to do? Somewhere east. Chapter Thirty-Five. A cozy sleeper car.

Page 271 in Kiss Me, Judas: "I whisper, but you have two tickets to El Paso. A cozy sleeper car"

ETA that is the beginning of chapter 35.

Maybe they are meeting in El Paso?

ETA2 El Paso is West Texas.

Oops sorry I see that others found this before me Smile

Linc was picked up in Albuquerque

Subject #12-09-14-03 (L-I-N-C) retrieved. Found in ABQ, NM (Albuquerque New Mexico) with data in hands. Please avise(? I'm thinking something was left out and it should be aDvise). from http://lg15today.blogspot.com/2008/11/from-agent-penn.html

El Paso is east of Albuquerque. Not sure if that matters.
Linc was also found with two tickets to Venezuela.

Is it just me or is the setup of the letter odd? It doesn't stay on one point past a sentence. It jumps from "You're alive" to somekind of apology to "do you play guitar" to "I been running forever" to "I think they can protect me" etc. It just feels weird. Maybe its just opening for more questions. I don't know.

I'm e-mailing Penn about the El Paso angle.

Sounds to me like some form of 'coded' email. Or, like you've said - an opening/nudge - for more questions. Also kind of clues.

I don't know if this is anything, but I was watching the Linc Video again. I noticed that when you watch it full screen you can see almost another image rolling over the video. It looks like in the old days when you would get a mediocre reception on your tv and kinda pick up two channels at the same time.

Is there anyway to separate them if there are indeed two images?

Seems fitting that Jude would be the password.

Who is writing to Thomas? (More information besides "7", though pg7 of KMJ mentions Jude, but that could be a stretch)

In KJM, they talk about large explosions. Then again, this probably has nothing to do with what's going on. El Paso, yeah? It's mentioned along side "cozy sleeper car".

I sent an email to Agent Penn telling him about the sleeper car and El Paso. We'll see what he has to say...
