Ahh... sorry about that then, I must have mis-interpreted your post on page 9

ETA: This is confirmed actually - I have two copies of cards 405, 413, and 416.
413 is Ninja Boy.

You must have meant that you had those loaded into your 39 Clues page.

In that case, I am not sure that there has been conformation of any cards actually printed correctly in the 413-416 range. Let me post the updated data that I beleive we have confirmed:

(Thanks Maggie for the update on the Borders URL)

Also, just so folks know where I get the data on the existance of physical cards, other than the 4 reciently found by littlewood's mom at the book fair in Reno, I am currently in posesion of cards printed 400-403 (that unlock 413-416), 405 (printed as 2), 406, and 407. And for those who have access to physical cards I don't have, I do have some spare 405 cards (printed as 2) and a 407 card that I will trade for other 400+ physical cards.

There also seems to be some confusion on how these 400+ codes are made and who distributes/prints/issued these promo cards. I contacted my friend at Borders and Hastings (who both co-oberated eachothers story) and it seems that Scholastic issued/printed/distributed all of these cards. Some of them are done in partnership with other companies (Borders, WalMart, Meijer, Hastings, etc). These came about because these companies either 1: Sponsored some part of the contest; or 2: Agreed to purchase a large quantity of books over the release peroid. As a reward/incentive for these companies, Scholastic issued specific promotional cards to only be released by those companies. In the cases where a physical card was not printed (such as the links in the list above, Scholastic provided the virtual copy for them to post or release as the partner company sees fit).

So, to be clear, Scholastic issued ALL the 39 Clues cards. Scholastic had ALL the 39 Clues cards printed. Scholastic distributed ALL of the 39 Clues cards (however since Scholastic only distibuted directly via book fairs and monthly advertisements to school children, much of its distribution is done through other retail companies... such as book stores, etc).

This makes sence as 39 Clues is Scholastic's answer to its shareholders when Scholastic's stock dropped after the Harry Potter books were done (this is the source of all the people saying "39 Clues is the new Harry Potter"... it isn't because the quality of the story is as good, or Scholastic expects to sell as many books as the Harry Potter books; but because it fills the gap of revinue that was being generated by Harry Potter for Scholastic). This is why there are so many different authors writing the books, Scholastic didn't want another "Harry Potter" where the movie rights, merchandising, etc is owned by the author (with Scholastic just publishing books). Scholastic itself wants to own all movie rights, book rights, merchandising rights, etc. 39 Clues is designed to be a money generator for Scholatic. There is no way Scholastic would jepordize its copyright on 39 Clues by letting anyone who wants to make their own 39 Clues cards for distribution.

I hope this information helps.

secret code on book's pages

Did anyone else discover a secret code embedded in the page numbers between 128 and 154?

Just curious.

I have a feeling that reguardless of if the 3 cards codes that we don't have yet are "in the system" or not, you would still get a "null". You can verify this yourself by creating a new 39 Clues user and trying to put in a card we know is there but is not yet loaded (such as 400 or 46 or whatever). My guess is that you will get the same result.

Gilbo seems to have deduced exactly which cards belong to which family and type. And given that there are art/card/photo credits and "known" family and types (ie that we can actually identify the family and type of missing cards by using the "sorting" feature) my guess is that the system would accept the codes right now if we knew or could guess them. The big question is, is if these cards and/or codes have been released yet (meaning they are out there and we just haven't found them or found someone with them yet) or are they not even in circulation?

Yup - but good observation! If you have not yet decoded the message yet and want a clue how.....

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A=1, B=2, C=3,.... Z=26)

So I was playing around with changing the card # in the address bar and here is what happened when i did

http://www.the39clues.com/mycards#cardID=408
http://www.the39clues.com/mycards#cardID=409

when I try to see if cam do it with the other missing cards i.e. those from book 2.. 17 -22 it just takes me back to my the my cards page

That matches - the missing #408 could be the same as #409 but the Null Card confirms it is a Lucian / Secret so #406 (Spy Kit) and #410 (Natalie's Strategy) are also candidates.

Also the card may not have credits because it hasn't been printed yet...
The only thing we can add on 408 (found at wikibruce various) is that it's called "The Spaz" and the Link to it shows Photo/Info on Irina Spasky. She's definitely Lucian. I don't know, after looking at the possible card matches, 408 just doesn't seem to fit. Maybe there's no match!

Right - this isn't new informaiton. It is widely accepted that 407 and 408 are the only 400+ cards without a "twin". This is likly because they are cards set asside for Meijer and Hastings, both of which are US only companies (so there is no need to release versions outside the US).

Hmmm, I have a computer program attempting (brute force) to solve the checksum algorithm used in the cards. It claims there are still over 30 thousand possibles to check.

I believe that they are in circulation, because when I tried to do the same thing ( change the address bar ) with the cards from the book I did not get the same result.

Who sponsored the Book Fair? Scholastic?

After being told to go back to page 4 for a perfectly legitimate question, I have to do this. Mad

Anyone happen to notice what happens when you click the go button on the 4 new cards we just got. it appears to enter you into some sort of sweepstakes. http://www.the39clues.com/cahillweb/article/Scholastic-Book-Fairs-US-Sweepstakes

p.s. if you read the link above it tells you where the cards came from

That was on the same page, only 7 posts above the answer. Not back 40+ pages.

And yes, I'm a bit snippy. I've been around here a while, and had a valid question that was ridiculed. What a role model for children. That's not why we are discussing this book. I think most of us are trying to help eachother out here.
I apologize. During the school week, I don't have time much time for this forum, 15-30 minutes at the most, which is very late at night. I remember going through the posts, stopping and making a reply to the post you mentioned. I stopped there not reading the rest of the posts since it's close to Midnight & I've got to teach school the next day. Sorry! And although I don't remember the P.4 thing, I apologize as well. I was probably rushing again as it seems I'm always doing. I hope you understand. Sorry!
