Resistance 2 (Full Release Spoiler Thread) Do not read if you want to experience the game in full! As I will be unable to participate in enjoying the full game (and guess that at least a few others will as well), I would very much be interested in the Spoilerific testaments of those who've been able to play the game in its entirety.
So spill it! Give us observers the news on what has carried over to the release from the ARG!

Throughout the game you find "Intel Documents" that offer insight into the games background and story. Subsequently, they also delve into a lot of issues from the ARG. I've only found about half of them, but I'll start transcribing them and post a new thread with those transcriptions. They're insanely interesting.

I just finished the game last night.
The connection with the ARG made the story a lot easier to understand.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Overall story is that Nathan Hale is recruited in the Sentinels after the events of R1. He's being followed closely by Fyodor Malikov to refrain his conversion into a full chimera. We learn that the game main protagonist, Daedalus, is in fact Johnathan Shepherd (which us ARGers know he is from PA Base Station Genesis). His mutation went out of control and now he is represented as a floating-inflated deformed alien with much much brain power and he is the one controling the chimeran force.
We learn from Malikov that the chimera where here millions of years before us and that he thinks they lost a war against another also powerful lifeform. Deadalus is trying to recover/activate something very powerful in the crater of the mexican gulf (unfortunately there is not much more info on that in the game).
We also learn that JSA and Nathan where both inducted with a special strain of the virus, coming from the purest form and most evoluated form of Chimera (depicted in game through the form of Deadalus).
There is a final stand-off between Hale and Deadalus, the latter trying to convince Hale to "hear and answer their call (not explained, but i suspect another specie or far-away Chimera from another planet)" and to "evolve to a greater being", etc....
Of course Hale triumph over Deadalus and gain his immense powers. To get out of the derelict ship, Hale kills (make them explode) the Chimera with a force field or such from now on. Capelli and Hale escape and crah lands with a chimeran ship. Assuming his role, Capelli kills Hale in the final cutscene when Hale turns around completely changed and saying "This is just the beginning..." (not exactly but I don't recall precisely) with an otherworldly voice

Hale dies!?!
That sucks...The life of a hero is a short-lived one...

Well he asked Capelli to do it before he become dangerous. He skipped on purpose his full inhibitor treatment to keep the momentum in the fight. He knew what was coming, so that is the thread of a hero, indeed.

The cool things about Capelli's model is that he has the scar from the pipe beating in the "Injection 3" video.
One of the things I didn't get with Capelli was his attitude. One moment he's all ticked at Hale saying he "Won't hesitate to put the bullet in you once you turn." then the next asking for forgiveness before shooting Hale. I think R3 will follow him, if there is one.
Also, is the Danby injection video canon?

People are interesting creatures, man.
It's a lot easier to be the big badass with a bunch of talk, but when it comes to action, even the biggest badass can be proven a yellow-bellied, tree-huggin', pansy.
Though, it is pretty funny that in games or movies these sorts of things seem out of place a lot of times. I guess we've just become so used to the image of the Hero-to-end-all-heroes in those mediums; the character who walks tall no matter what the situation or cost.

About Jonathan Shepherd Included in the Bonus DVD of the collector's edition, there is the #0 of the Resistance comic coming this December. In this issue, we are presented the backstory of JSA, his childhood and some key moments of his life. We lean that he is suffering from an inner rage because his father was beating him when drunk. He also hide the fact to SRPA that he had suffered from severe fever and being contaminated with pesticide when he was young, making him immmunosuppressed. He did this because he wanted to be useful once in his life and he feared to be rejected by Project Abraham. At the end of the novel, he gets really angry after being inoculated and display his first psychokinesic powers when he "attacks" one doctor right into his mind. Their his an emphasis on the metaphor of a mosquito's bite, with the leitmotiv quote "Get off me"

I finished the game last night. The ending is really... abrupt. I was really enjoying the story, and was hoping for a bit more of a wrap-up/conclusion.

Maybe it's not really "the end"? These things love to come in trilogies. Although I guess Capelli would have to be the main character next time.
