WTF?

Quote:

"We are not able to serve you at this time."

Does this mean that I will not continue? When did I become unservable?

I hope you're all very happy with your special lottery numbers.
*sigh*

EDIT: After several more attempts, I am happy to report that I am in fact, quite servable. Smile Whew!

w00t! Been keeping tabs on this film (2012) for a while. Here's a TRAILER for anyone unfamiliar.

Careful. That youtube video comes with a disclaimer:
Quote:
My fan trailer for the new 2012 End of the world movie.
*If you are going to leave comments about the authenticity of this trailer, please remember this is homemade entertainment only and not an advocation of any belief or passing off as a genuine movie trailer.*

Y'all disappoint me... You can't tell the movies those clips are from? For shame! Wink

Silly Google question...
Does Google catalog the contents of flash files?

When you search for "IHC LOTTERY" in Google, the text,"YOU HAVE BEEN ENTERED INTO THE IHC GLOBAL LOTTERY TO SELECT REPRESENTATIVES FROM AROUND THE ... PLEASE DO NOT LOSE THIS NUMBER. CONGRATULATIONS. IHC LOTTERY." appears in the result.

Yet, if you visit the Google cached page for the site none of that text is visible in the HTML.

Oddly, if you search for "Institute for Human Continuity", the result is technically, different and just shows the "Javascript required" message

Got mine, although I have no way of printing it out... Is that going to be a problem? Confused

If you'd like, you could download something like PrimoPDF. When you choose the print option for something, you can switch the "printer" to Primo and it "prints" to a pdf file. It's a great way to save printable pages on your computer. Smile

And, I got my ticket too.

Edit: The two letters on the ticket are your initials. The first 8 numbers are the date you signed up. As in YYYY-MM-DD. Maybe the last 6 are the time?

Edit2: They are the time as far as I can tell, just adjusted to Pacific Standard Time.

I'd let the opening Apocalypto clips slide, but the very next scenes, from Armageddon, are inexcusable. Throw in some War of the Worlds, The Day After Tomorrow, Alien, et al. and you've got yourself an epic end of days compilation Wink

And that's not the best of them. After watching quite a few fakes these past few months, the real teaser barely got my blood pumping Smile

I know they're making inroads into that area. Digging around, I found this from 2002:
Quote:
Google is another search engine that can, at least partially, index Flash sites.

"Google has the ability to extract links from Flash files, said Matt Cutts, Software Engineer at Google. "In fact, in our own internal testing, we were able to extract more than 50% more links from Flash files than by using the standard Macromedia developer's kit that some other search engines use."
But that's just the links -- and if you write your html code properly, the URLs are in the page itself outside of the Flash file. Other hints from 2007 include:
Quote:
It's between the noembed and noembed tags that text content must be inserted... there is also the possibility to create a HTML version of the Flash site and to offer that one for the spiders to index.
And lastly, from http://www.yourseoplan.com/google-flash.html :
Quote:
Does Google Index Flash? The short answer is: Yes. On July 1, 2008, Adobe announced a breakthrough improvement in Google's ability to index Flash content.
Fascinating reading, for some of us ;)

Catherwood, I have always appreciated the valuable input you provide, but in this you seem to have even exceeded my normal expectations of you. Thank you so very much!

I never got a confirmation e-mail, which is a problem I guess because the printed ticket doesn't contain the whole number, right?
