Gotta hand it to the "powers that be"... the initial photos made it really easy to find this place.

I'm sitting in front of the building right now (I'm sitting literally where picture #5 was taken); it's about 30 minutes until they open. Using UM's public free wireless Internet. Taken photos of my trek so far.

Hope this is worth it... Wink

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, I think...

Taped under the brown circular center unit were two pieces of paper. I won't be able to scan or provide photos of them until later today, but here's my best description.

PAGE 1, FRONT:

An advertisement for a concert, a "Tour of Peace". Drawing of a guy with his back to you and the words "CCCP" and "Uranium 5" on the back of his jacket. Tucked under his jacket and in to the back of his pants is a revolver.

Around him are numerous bands, I assume. I'll get a photo/scan of it so you can see them all.

On the bottom right is an image of some sort of medal. Can't make it out that well what it says on the left side, but the right side clearly says "CCCP.

At the bottom left is a notice of the concert venue:

Miami, Florida
December 25 - 31
Dolphin Stadium

PAGE 1, BACK:

Handwritten in pencil and in big letters, two things:

crowne.mfbiz.com

$89,000,000

PAGE 2, FRONT:

A copy of a Travelocity confirmation of ticket purchase, received by someone's GMail account. The identifiable information (email address, destination city, trip ID, phone number, date of issue and the e-ticket URL) have been blanked out.

At the bottom is a copy of what I can assume is a boarding pass:

Aeroflot (see below)
Ticket # 5554405524187 1
For Robert Kelleher
From Miami, Florida to Houston, Texas
First class, Seat 35

Things of note, spoilered because of potential "meta" relevance:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1) Although the city is blanked out, the state ("TX") and the IATA code ("SAT") are not.

"SAT" is the IATA code for San Antonio Airport, which does not serve Houston (Houston is served by George Bush Intercontinental Airport, which has the IATA code of "IAH"). This may have been an oversight.

2) It does say "Soviet airlines", even though the current Aeroflot logo (seen on Aeroflot's official English website) says "Russian airlines". Don't know if that was an oversight or intentional.

ETA meta #3:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
3) Dolphin Stadium is not in Miami; it's nowhere near it, actually about 15 miles North of the Miami city line, near the Dade/Broward county line. Fort Lauderdale, technically, is closer to the stadium than Miami is.

Nobody ever announces anything going on in Dolphin Stadium as being in Miami.

Yes, I know, the Miami Dolphins play there. Don't get me started on that...

PAGE 2, BACK is blank.

-=O=-

Nothing under the light yellow desk. Cannot find anything else in the area.

I'm outta here. Photos and scan will be provided later.

Fantastic job Nighthawk! You're awesome! Rock On

When did you guys first check out the site? There seems to be a count-up in the right side of the header that started at about midnight, maybe someone logged on then?

We here in this part o' the world call that a "clock" there, buddy Laughing
(I'm just kidding with you)

The site just has a welcome page with a video/music loop, an "about" page that discusses the company and their practices, and a disclaimer/privacy policy. The music sounds a bit PTish, doesn't it?

EDIT: On a whim, I Googled "USSR $89,000,000" to see if anything came up. I got a couple hits about a Senate bill called S. 3001, which is, "An original bill to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2009 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes." I CRTL+Fed for "$89,000,000" and found an action on the bill reading, "S.AMDT.5414 Amendment SA 5414 proposed by Senator Kyl. To make available from Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation, Defense-wide activities, $89,000,000 for the activation and deployment of the AN/TPY-2 forward-based X-band radar. " Probably a coincidence, but interesting none the less

Countup=Clock. So yeah, it started at midnight. Very Happy

So what are we paying $89 million for?

Interesting choice of music for a defense contractor Smile

And last, since it was in a previous incarnation the topic of some debate, HERE. (Lower left corner of the pic] And it's still a Titan 2...

That would explain why my count-up resets every 12 hours.

I was bored, so I went looking for our plane.

It's actually a Ekranoplan KM the "Caspian Sea Monster." It's technically a boat, not a plane, though it does fly, sort of. Even more technically it's a type of ground effect vehicle. Wiki article here.

Here it is decked out as a missle platform...

And a cool vid.

CRAP!

Apparently, the camera I was using (one of those "one use" cameras) sucked for indoor shots, so the indoor shots came out really bad.

This includes the documents, so y'all are going to have to wait until I can scan them later tonight.

The images that are legible are here:
http://www.brainclouds.net/Darklight/?Cmd=viewGallery&GG=11

Images 6-9 are virtually identical to the ones on the site... only with a better camera. Rolling Eyes

Image #10 is contrast adjusted because of bad quality.

Isn't the weather just HORRIBLE for such a thing in pic #3? Wink

Again, I'll re-scan the actual documents tonight.
