Ha ha, "UK Promo Announcer", wouldn't even tell what company....

read "SPAM" (as in please DO email this idiot and bug the hell out of him/them)

Edit: Is it possible that bots have "figured out" the SPLAT, email designation used here? Perhaps it would be useful to change the designation of @ every once in while to something like SPRAT?

Yeah that's a pretty ancient form of spam, I've been getting them for years. Sadly, not a trailhead.

When I googled J.B. Drue, I was taken here:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=26277&start=180

which was a past ARG where you had received contact from a Jacob Drue.
Continuation perhaps? Did you guys wrap things up on that one?

D'oh, why didn't i think of that? Yeah, it sort of merged with the Antenna ARG. I guess disregarding my post is the best course of action, as they've probably already responded to the matter. I personally have been on an ARG hiatus, so I'm not really at liberty to respond other than with,"who are you?" but yeah.

@Barilio
Forget it and don't answer!! That's just scam. Just google for some of the sentences in your mail, you'll get many and more hits. Here's just one example (different names, same text.): http://www.stop-scammers.com/letter.asp?id=4417 .

I just got this email:

Greetings,

You are receiving this email because I have noticed your activity in what is known as the Alternate Reality Gaming Community.

I am a senior law enforcement official and I have been watching with great awe the problem solving abilities of the group mind that occurs during an "ARG". After watching several of these games play out, an idea occurred to me: would it be possible to use those abilities in my line of work? After some thought I quickly realized that I could never share the information that you would need to help in any sort of official manner. So I have decided to run this "off the books" experiment.

Attached to this email are coding directions to my blog, there you will find a post with more details and instructions on how to contact me if you are interested. Share this email with other members of your community that may be interested in joining the cause. I have great faith that together we can make a difference.

I received it too. The letter sounds like Fish really is a police detective but the .png is titled trailhead so I don't know. I know there is a way to decipher that image but I don't know/remember how. Confused

It's a QR Code. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_Code I had a link to a decoder but it's not working.

I got the email as well. I'll try and look into a decoder in my free time this morning. Hopefully this ends up leading somewhere cool.

It decodes to:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
104 116 116 112 58 47 47 99 104 105 101 102 100 101 116 101 99 116 105 118 101 46 98 108 111 103 115 112 111 116 46 99 111 109 47

And that decodes (dec/char) to:

Sorry about that. I ran the picture through a program found at http://zxing.org/w/decode.jspx which gave us the string of numbers. Running that through the DEC/CHAR decoder at http://www.paulschou.com/tools/xlate/ we got the actual URL of the blog. Two very handy tools to have around.
