the activity place

okay so i've been studying this pic of the activity center and here are a few things i'd like to point out:

1. the pic on the left: looks like a comet/meteor is heading straight for the bulb (light vs dark?); the red boat might also be attacking the bulb?

2. the pic in the center: at the center of the bulb there appears to be a mouth with teeth; arrows are pointing away from the bulb; the words "uh oh" are written next to it

3. the pic on the right: again a mouth with teeth in the center of the bulb; a man appears to be feeding a child (maybe a teen?) into the mouth (untheath suggested a possible sacrifice)

4. the hat: it's marked with what appears to be an A. nothing remarkable but we see it again later in the video; maybe we'll get a clue as to who or what the A refers to in the coming weeks

5. the robot: upon closer inspection later in the video it appears to be fashioned out of aluminum foil, which brings to mind the guy with the robo arm

maybe there's some kind of timeline implied by the pictures? i didn't point out the message by the little girl because i think that's already been brought to everyone's attention.

Re: the activity place

excellent.

With the first picture, I'm wondering if the "meteor" might be a bomb, since the narrator says that Milwaukee had to be destroyed.

I also just wanted to point out that both the hat and the robot pop up again during the teen section when the narrator mentions toys.

My Chuck Jagoda lead has yielded nothing....or seems to, in response to my question about Blackstar he just had things like

"What is Blackstar?"

also

"Jonthewallflower:
You appeared in a video done by the Milwaukee Tourism Commission, I was hoping you may have some more information about them.

Charles Jagoda
November 23 at 11:48pm

You are right, Sir. But I have no knowledge of Blackstar. Do you want to email the producers of the video?"

So I asked him for their email...I'm assuming if this is a game...he isn't playing. He is going to forward my correspondence to the producers....I'm doubtful that'll help much.

definitely. something feels very Lovecraftian.

I googled "fennel myth" to see if fennel has any particular symbolic meaning.

I found this: http://www.theoi.com/Flora1.html

Quote:

Fennel
Fire of Prometheus. The Titan Prometheus stole fire from heaven for man, hiding the flame inside a fennel stalk. As punishment for the crime Zeus had him chained to a mountain and set an eagle to peck out his liver.

"Fire of Prometheus" is clickable, so here's some more info:
Quote:

PROMETHEUS was the Titan god of forethought and crafty counsel who was entrusted with the task of moulding mankind out of clay. His attempts to better the lives of his creation brought him into direct conflict with Zeus. Firstly he tricked the gods out of the best portion of the sacrificial feast, acquiring the meat for the feasting of man. Then, when Zeus withheld fire, he stole it from heaven and delivered it to mortal kind hidden inside a fennel-stalk. As punishment for these rebellious acts, Zeus ordered the creation of Pandora (the first woman) as a means to deliver misfortune into the house of man, or as a way to cheat mankind of the company of the good spirits. Prometheus meanwhile, was arrested and bound to a stake on Mount Kaukasos where an eagle was set to feed upon his ever-regenerating liver (or, some say, heart). Generations later the great hero Herakles came along and released the old Titan from his torture.

Prometheus was loosely identified in cult and myth with the fire-god Hephaistos and the giant Tityos.

It makes sense with the rest of the video. They tried to capture the power of God, and were punished/it got out of control, so it had to be buried and forgotten (i.e. all of the visual references to Fennel being planeted, Fennel "belongs in the ground, where is yours?", Fennel "UNDER" the table, etc).

Not sure that this progresses the story or solves anything, but it seems the fennel references aren't random.

Hello, first-time poster, here. I came across this forum while looking into This is My Milwaukee. I live in Milwaukee, so it's caught my attention.

Fennel is also a symbol of Dionysus, who was killed, either by his father, Zeus, or by the Titans, who tore him apart (Go.D.S.E.E.D Fragments?), depending on the myth, and reborn, either from Zeus's thigh, or a second time from his mother, Semele. The Milwaukee Margarita, subsituting vermouth for tequila, too, may point to him, as it is a fortified wine.

First post and first ARG (kinda...)

So I called the number at the bottom left of the thisismymilwaukee.com site (4146687035) and I got a message that said that the number was not a working number, this was repeated in another language, im too tired to be sure which though. and then it said:
"Message 3: pa02gk" followed by 5 tones, at which point the line disconnected.
I think that the code was pa02gk but it may have been ta02gk. I have also fired off an email to the info@thisismymilwaukee site asking about possibilities of moving to milwaukee even though I am not a former resident and asking about employment at blackstar.

Other things I noticed:
I followed the links at the bottom right of thisismymilwaukee and got to the synydyne site which has just an image that says to email contactSPLATsynydyne.com. However, there is another page on the site, synydyne.com/hoopeston. And although I originally thought that the other link that went to a designer page, was just that, the designer, im not too sure now, as he apparently did the art for the hoopeston video poster. as can be seen by looking at the portfolio on his site and the hoopeston page on synydyne.com.

could this all be promotion for the apparently legit hoopeston movie?

sorry if i repeated anything, but I hope this helps somewhat. Ill be keeping track of it for sure.

Not much to note, but I'm itching for this thing to start back up. In the meantime, if you add the /images at the end of the URL, we are no disallowed access.

This is my first one of these but I noticed at the top in those pictures right above activity place the drawing says 'I am 9 years old and my father was taken by blackstar...' I'm going back through to try to read the rest of it.

I note that somehow this video is 00:10:58

"Somehow," because, according to Youtube's own FAQ:
Quote:
You can no longer upload videos longer than ten minutes regardless of what type of account you have.
and that user joined the eighteenth of this month-- the ten-minute limit was imposed a couple years ago.

Also, for those who don't know, you can get higher video and audio quality by appending &fmt=18 to the youtube address (That's the option to use h264 decoder and AAC stereo audio).

I copied the video from my cache...it's decently hefty; 40.8MB. I'm going to upload it to my web space: When it's finished (probably in about an hour), it'll be at
http://www.radiusic.com/milwaukee.flv

If you can't play the flash container outside of youtube, I personally use mplayer (for all video), but I've heard there are a number of other things out there.

Hey all, first time poster. Two things I picked up on were when he was talking about the nightlife he says
Quote:
Theres plenty of opportunities to meet that special guy, or girl or, if you knowed where to looked, to have sex with things other than human.

The way he says it, it doesn't sound like he's just referring to bestiality.

Secondly, Tales of Games comes up in the credits, the freeware team who made the Hoopz Barkley game Shut Up and Jam Gaiden. With all the refences to basketball (Especially the "NOW FOR A SLAMDUNK OF MY OWNNNNN!" at the very end, which I'm sure is a quote from the game) and the Hoopeston film, it makes me think it might be linked to them somehow, or I could be possibly looking too deeply into this.

Ok creepy about that... the hat looks very familiar to a childhood toy I or a friend of mine had... vague, vague, childhood memories... but the "A" seems familiar too. It might just be part of the hat and not specially placed there (unless they used the hat because of the A) Dunno
but man... distant childhood memories ftw =P

That just means this person has a director account, which isn't hard to procure.

Following in the trend of first posters here:

Called the first number which, as people've noticed, doesn't work.

Called the tourism department at 414-688-7035 and got voicemail, left a message about rebreathers.

Called Mike Russo's [apparently] home number at 414-688-8914 and got him, asked about getting a new rebreather. He said something along the lines of there being "no hope" if I didn't have a rebreather, but he'd send me an email with information about getting a new one.

Also, he asked how I got this number, and if it was "that temp kid". I said yes, and he said he was going to "fire that #$(*er."

So, in the interest of information gathering, I asked why they had a temp kid. He hesitated, but explained that the old manager had run into ".......problems....." and had to be replaced. Nothing about firing, so my hunch would be a run-in with Go.D.S.E.E.D. fragments.

I plan on calling again later today to ask about how to identify Go.D.S.E.E.D. fragments in the event of an emergency.

-------

EDIT:

Got a Youtube message response from ThisIsMyMilwaukee, probably no new news but a new response at least:

THIS IS AN AUTOMATED MESSAGE.

OUR TEXT PARSER HAS DETERMINED THAT YOU ASKED FOR HELP WITH:

"Go.D.S.E.E.D. fragments continuously attacking my party"

WE URGE YOU TO VISIT

TOMORROW AFTERNOON FOR A GREAT NEW EXCITEMENT WITH MORE BONUS SECRET SURPRISES.

[META] Got a web profile on "Howcast" for our director. A lot of the actors in this videos, which are hosted on a Youtube like site, also appear in TIMM. Consider the source completely out of game, obviously, but it's all the same general style and Syndyne gets enough mention that we can probably gather that they are OOG as well.

http://www.howcast.com/users/bender

EDIT: After looking a little further into "Hoopeston", it appears the production team is identical, right down to the composer. Just an FYI.

EDIT AGAIN:

We've all seen http://alternativeapproaches.com/pnuke1/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=4791 already, but I'm looking again at the quote...

Quote:
"If we want the Midwest to recover, people need to hear Midwestern stories," said MTC President and CEO Larose Burton. "I saw Hoopeston at the New York Underground – and I had SYNYDYNE on the phone before the credits started rolling."

This could be our first real hint at what we're getting at with this game. Obviously, the MTC isn't real. We've looked into that. Why throw a reference to a fake person from a fake organization into a real article? Maybe because you're making a movie about it?
