Hoopston = Milwaukee
links

What we know about the two movies:

1. Hoopeston is a real movie. Synydyne is the (real or in-game) production company behind it.

2. MTC is strongly suspected of being in-game

3. MTC President and CEO Larose Burton, therefore must be in-game as well

4. Burton is quoted as seeing Hoopeston and contacting Synydyne. Therefore, "Hoopeston" predates "This is My Milwaukee" in the timeline.

5. The Hoopeston trailer contains the following imagery (among other things):

a) Corn (heavily depicted for the first 25 seconds of the trailer)

b) Crystal Web

c) Planting of a bulb

6. A few things not mentioned about "This is My Milwaukee", since we've been asked to take a "closer look":

a) The colouring book pages in "The Activity Place" feature a bulb with the words "THESE BELONG UNDERGROUND", "WHERE'S YOURS?" and what looks like the number "4"

b) The name of the cafe at the art gallery is "Fabrizio's" I cannot find a link to/from this but it may be useful to others

c) At 2:48, in the "VERIFY" section, the man in the glasses is seen giving a "B" or "2" semaphor flag signal. May be a reference to the extra "B"'s seen in the very next shot (in the "BONUS?" section)

d) There is a warning sign in the upper right of the frame during the "Hey teens" section. I cannot make it out. (4:55, 5:07, and slightly closer at 5:32)

e) The "Church" shot at 6:02 depicts a clearly unused and vandalized building. If this is the best in-game footage of a church they could find, it has interesting parallels to "Hoopeston" which is a commentary on religious divergence.

f) Immediately after this shot, (i.e., "Toys"), we see the same materials from the earlier "Activity Place" thrown into the garbage, including a closeup of the children's drawings. One such drawing says "COOL DOG" on it. Could this be a reference to what see at 0:40 ? Are the weird glasses important (we see Terry holding them up at 0:36). This close-up shot of the drawings in the garbage contain the phrase "you can HOOP it up with your friends", and the aluminum-foil figurine.

g) The "class" system of the signs seems to imply that "A" is the highest (if it goes that high), and "Z" (if it goes that low) would be the lowest, since "K" is considered "higher" than "L".

h) The signs seem to contain 4 symbols to the right of the letter. A repeat of the letter, a Go.D.S.E.E.D. fragment icon
iii) Two other symbols below these which may serve us well

i) The "equation" shot (6:31) seems to imply that planting the bulbs may help upgrade a Class "M" to a class "L" It also contains the EXACT drawing that the kids colour in the "Activity Place" (see 6a above)

j) There appears to be a lot of time and energy spent on the door shown at 7:38. Perhaps somebody with the appropriate technology can zoom in on this with the high-def version of the video and read what the sign says?

k) There are smudges on the screen during this "slideshow". Can anybody make out what it is? It sort of looks like a hand print to me, but perhaps it's a lettter?

l) The buried remenants shown at 8:23 look suspiciously like a man-made version of the bulbs we keep seeing. (remember: "THESE BELONG UNDER GROUND")

m) The "An emerald casket, a golden map, a forgotten weapon" section just after this seems oddly out of place. These aren't on-topic with what he's describing (which is how no expense was spared to secure the threat). He also "asks" the last item rather than states it.

n) The buried remenant is referred to as "him"/"he" two times (8:35 and 9:02)

Hopefully this helps somebody

Ooh, that's interesting. Thanks for your list!

I think there may be something in all these "random" letters... like the "M" on the school flag in the "teens" section, the A written on the hat... there's also the added/missing letters on the concert programme. Maybe an anagram can be made out of the relevant letters?

I've got a frame by frame, and 'm separating out single frames from each scene (or significant frames/imagery). I'll get them up flickr for perusing soon's I'm done.
It's from the high quality youtube video, which afaik is the highest quality we've got so far (and still 320x240)

I think the spelling is "FeBrizzio's" since they apparently also provided Mr Duquette's wardrobe

Crystal Web
More clues

Our Correllian Chancelor friend featured in the Hoopeston trailer (M. Rev. Don Lewis) has a YouTube video up where he explains The Crystal Web
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYFHQMTg-Ls

I will call your attention specifically to 4:30. It describes the act of burying a crystal to access the Crystal Web. at 5:23, he depicts this occuring with illustration.

This predates our MTC and Hoopeston videos by a great period of time, but a previous poster said that the crystals were important.

And please, before it happens, let's not go into commenting on other peoples' sacred ritual, okay? Let's rise above that, please.

actually, it's spelled FeBrizzio's, rather than like the actual restaurant. (FeBrizzio's Homme provided Terry's wardrobe)

Update: I tried calling the office, I don't know if they changed the number on the website and the one we listed here most recently is a typo but it's not a valid number.
It's now listed as 414-668-7035

also, I wrote an email to that youtube user Friday and never got a response. Same thing with the info@ address. It did not go to my spam filter.

He's listed in the credits as playing Terry Nanny.

However the other phone number we got is still working, and someone actually answered it.....I was an idiot and hung up without probing for anything. I was just expecting a voice mail...since it's not during business hours. It was mike Russo of the MTC! Why am I such a dumb-ass sometimes. Someone braver should give him a call. blah.

EDIT: Maybe if I write down some questions beforehand this time.....

Awesome!

By the way, my friend and I just noticed this (from the segment on fortified apartments):

The yellow banner stands out from the rest of the image. We can't tell what it says... Lomnia? Lomma? Lumnia? Lemnia?

Not sure if it means anything, but it looked weird.

You missed the crucial text in that image.

in reference to point m) [above] - that stuck with me as well. Currently I cant figure where it is from (but I definitely know I have heard something like it before). Seeing as we have already touched on anime before (which has interesting links) it might be something along those lines.

The video tells a lot of the (initial?) story if you piece it together (not in sequence though - I haven't nailed it yet but getting there Smile)

I just called 414-688-7035. A female voice says something about "until further notice" and something about everyone being out of the office because (can't make out what she says)

She offers 3 options: Press 1 for inquiries about Champion Dynasty, stay on the line for other questions, or call the emergency number (didn't have a chance to write it down).

I stayed on the line and was taken to the voicemail for a Mr. Lewis.

I want to talk to someone about Champion Dynasty, but I'm not sure what to ask.

Can this be a connection to M. Rev. Don Lewis featured in "Hoopeston" ??

Maybe... He said his first name, but I couldn't catch it.

hiya right

so right I'm just commenting because I found it interesting and I wanted to add a bit of thought:
I've just written down the dialogue of Terry and the treasure hunter from 7:55, in the movie.

Quote:
Terry Nanny:
"Milwaukee was filled with hope when Black Star came to town, they promised jobs, jobs for everyone. Their money fixed roads, and opened hospitals. When Black Star announced Project G.o.D.S.E.E.D. even the mayor didn't question it. Black Star said we needed a new god so we began to build. (Ominous music begins here…) We were so busy finishing the project that we didn't notice nature withering around us. We never asked to whom this new god would prey. We had to destroy Milwaukee to save it and the survivors buried the remnants of G.o.D.S.E.E.D in a sarcophagus deep beneath the canning district. It was their hope that this Farao's burial would keep him asleep for all times. No expense was spared, an emerald casket, a golden map, a forgotten weapon? But don't even think about going after the riches. The tomb is buried under thousands of tons of concrete."

Treasure hunter M: "I don't care how many tons. If there's riches I'll find them."

Terry Nanny: "I hope you're not planning to dig there treasure hunter.

Treasure hunter M: "What's it to you? I don't believe in monsters anyway. And besides ain't he supposed to be dead?"

Terry Nanny: "Well, it's not that simple. You know how trees lose their leaves in winter right?"

Treasure hunter M: "Yeah!!"

Terry Nanny: "Well those leaves regrow in the spring and I fear the seasons might be changing."

Treasure hunter M: "I came to Milwaukee for adventure not lessons. Now you gonna help me or you gonna stand in my way?"

Terry Nanny: "Heh, you remind me of someone treasure hunter. *WINKS and bell rings *. Take this. *Hands him a red crystal*"

Treasure hunter M: "Thanks Terry! I'll buy you a HAM BURGER when I get back from the dunes!"

Not totally sure of the "dunes".

Right so nature is important in this context. With the project godseed the nature withered. It is mentioned again when Terry explains that even though it is dead it might "regrow". I think that is relevant.

"an emerald casket, a golden map, a forgotten weapon?" What map and what forgotten weapon? It looks weird in the movie.

Anyways. just my 2c-

 BIG Development (new vid)

I can't take credit for this. I read about it somewhere else.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Look at the source code for the website. The last line contains this link:

http://www.youtube.com/14251612181818198HD

It's a youtube profile with our friend (who doesn't know, does he?)

He has one video uploaded. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lg82vldryXM

What you'll see...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Weird fennel-doings, the "Working" guy, the basketball player, and a code that flashes on the screen.

Shoot, I was just going to post about that, UNTHeath. Ah well. Smile

The code, from what I can see:

*R-RMRR AI 3.A23

Also, when you view that user's YT profile, you see a screenshot of the margarita drinker from the tourism video, and part of the back of the margarita woman's head.
