Re: library hours

I believe it's about 5:00 in NY right now... so we've only got an hour.

Interesting. Looking further into this, I found that The Supplementary Index to Periodicals only indexed Milwaukee Magazine from '86 onwards... so, if Milwaukee Magazine is important, 84 couldn't be a volume number. And if '84 is the volume number, Milwaukee Magazine would have to be unrelated.

Maybe it's page 84?

Wow - have spent the past couple of hours catching up on all of this, reading through this 14-page thread and the 11-pager over at somethingawful.com.

Looking forward to finding out what's waiting for us at the NYPL, and have emailed infoSPLATthisismymilwaukee.com asking for more information about the city and what appears to the be main employer, Blackstar, as my wife and I are trying to decide where in the USA to move to from New Zealand....

Oh - and current time in New York - right now 5:24pm.

kay, I think the numbers at the end of the new video have been analyzed pretty well, but what about the rest of the video?

The first part obviously shows the camera following the glasses guy (who I will call Glasses). The low camera angle suggests that whoever is following him is trying to be discrete about it.

Then there is the close up of the suitcase that he is carrying. We can see the re-occurring image of the suspected fennel bulb that was found on the coloring book pages in the kids activity room scene.

Suddenly we see a man (Basketball Guy?) holding up what appears to be a fennel bulb. In a moment of David Lynchian horror the Glasses guy has the left lense of his glasses shatter before the movie freaks and spits out that crazy code at us.

Now. What do we know about Glasses guy? He seems to be the second most important character if we base importance on screen time. The fact that he now has his own movie could suggest that he is even the most important character. He is present in the first frame of the movie, behind the Basketball Player, holding a basketball like he has never seen one before in his life. Indeed, he is usually awkward and disjointed; moving with less grace then a zombie.

He is the only person shown in the jobs segement of the video (which has been discussed already). Again, he seems disjointed and strangely emotionless. One interesting thing from this montage is the fact that he is punching a fennel bulb. The fennel is closely tied to him.

He is then absent until he pops up again holding the screen during the Teens/sneeT montage. I find it interesting that he stares straight into the camera for most of the video until the very end when the Cythulu or Flames or Whatever thing descends.

Oddly enough, the next time we see Basketball guy he is holding a basketball. Previously he was just on the court and Glasses guy was holding the ball (first frame of movie.) But then Terry Nanny runs up and steals the ball, reference to Hoopestown? Barkley Gaiden?

On the Basketball theme, I just realized that Terry Nanny is shown holding the Basketball right before he gives Treasure Hunter the red ruby. Then at the end of the credits there is the anime of Terry Nanny giving Treasure Hunter the basketball and then shooting some kind of fire out of his hands into the sky.

Also, about the foreign language in the second video, we should really try to figure that out. I work on films, and I can tell you that nothing is ever done without having some kind of purpose. In a film that is as well made as these, everything we see and hear has been put there for us by the director. Nothing is accidental. This applies to the "Macy's" bag too.

Since they're telling us specifically where to get it, i'm thinking there's something physically inside the magazine.

One other thing about the new video

Real quick, one thing I forgot to mention.

The drawing on the side of the Glasses guys briefcase DOESNT say "this belongs in ground" so maybe it is not a fennel bulb? It could be a heart and maybe that is why re-breathers are important? Or could that case be carrying a re-breather? Whatever it is the Glasses guy seems to be hurt by fennel, so why would he be carrying it around in a suitcase?

In regards to the fennel, I'm wondering WHY it had that effect this time. He handled fennel in the original video twice, and he was fine. What made this time different?

Sorry won't be me

Curses! I'm buried at work. I won't be getting out early to search the library.

Are we sure that is him? Also, we dont see a face of whoever is planting the fennel, so maybe they are wearing a re-breather?

Whoever does end up heading down to the library, today or tomorrow or whenever... if you can, carry along a laptop and make use of their wi-fi to keep us updated. Or to help out if needed.

And I'd keep an eye out for that fennel bulb image... would seem the most obvious X to mark the spot.

I've added frame grabs of the new video to the flickr set
http://www.flickr.com/photos/thebruce0/sets/72157609933410609/
(at the end of the set currently)

I'm going to go through all the screens and attempt to label the oddities and things of interest. everyone's welcome to do the same

ethernet cable

If anyone's going to the reading room, bring an ethernet CABLE...it's the easiest way to get internet access there.

Unless someone made an epic run to the library, this is gonna have to wait until tommorow. It's 12 minutes to 6pm.
