Going to the NYPL this morning.

I'm headed to the NYPL on 42nd and 5th when it opens at 11:00am EST this morning.

Bringing a video camera.

Anyone else going? I'd really feel safer if we were in a group of three or more.

Good luck, bud. I'd go if I lived in NY.

I finally get the appeal of these ARGs... This stuff is engaging!

EDIT: More random thoughts:

From the wiki page on Fennel:

Quote:
It is an essential ingredient in the Bengali/Oriya spice mixture panch phoron and in Chinese five-spice powders.

One of the ingredients of five-spice powders is "Star anise", which is a star shaped fruit.

Apparently there is Chinese sounding music in the background of the "mold/moles and rats" answer machine message.

Man, I just love the way they say "Ham Burger."

It is endlessly funny to me.

Since first viewing the video, I can't stop pronouncing it that way. It's driving a few friends crazy. Laughing

Hey everyone, I got a link to this video from a friend, as well as a link to the SA thread regarding it as well, so I'm jumping on board. One thing I'd like to mention is the reference number leading to a book called 'Access' may be a clue by itself. As in, something with the video, possibly the long numerical username, can be used to access something. I'm not disagreeing with the idea of actually getting our hands on a copy of said book, but from it's description, I can't imagine it being very helpful.

Bar on Bleecker

Haven't seen this posted before in a quick scan through this thread.

The bar on Bleecker that the young professionals exit is QUARTINO (<a>as per street view + google</a>), but in the video all but the R, N, and O are deleted. Leaving... QUATI.

Now, in the bar segment, there's something about replacing tequila with vermouth. I'd feel better if TEQUILA and VERMOUTH had the same number of letters.. but it's interesting that all the letters in QUATI are in TEQUILA.

There's also a closeup on a lemon wedge and a closeup on someone crushing the wedge with their heel. Clueing WEDGE and CRUSH perhaps?

Thank you! Smile

We believe you're looking for the 1984 edition of "Access: The Supplementary Index to Periodicals" (AI3.A23) in the South Hall of the Rose Main Reading Room.
Good luck~!

Interesting idea. See, I feel that everybody is concentrating on this NYPL lead and not enough on the *content* of the TIMM video.

If we did:
T=V
E=E
Q=R
U=M
I=O
L=U
A=T
(nothing)=H

The letters of QUARTINO missing in the TIMM video (R, N and O) are the only letters of the word not present in "TEQUILA".

Using simple letter substitution would give us QUATI=RMTVO.

Of course, no anagrams can be built out of this (not enough vowels)

VHS - First Frames

I don't think anyone has mentioned the first few frames of the original video. Someone went through the trouble of making it look like this was a VHS tape, but they also included a specific time and channel:

-0H02M15S
CH124
>
SP

I wonder if these are relevant?

My gut says "no", but I could easily be wrong. Thanks for the screen grab and transcription though, you never know, it might come in handy.

Some else bugging me

Something else that's been bugging me... If you compare the fennel at the beginning of the original video to the second video the first one looks fresh while the one that cracks the glasses looks rotting or burned. Also, the children's coloring pages (including the image on the side of the briefcase) really look like there is something being held or stuck on the fennel - like a chili pepper or, looking back at the monitor during the teen segment, a Go.D.S.E.E.D. fragment.

Maybe the fennel attracts the fragments?
