Please keep it up. I'll be adding stuff soon. Probably this evening. Once I figure out how. Thanks Bruce!

I'm looking at the frame-by-frame images of the TIMM video, and I don't think anyone has addressed this yet:

Anyone know the significance of the "Streetcar Shuffle". A quick google search didn't pop up anything, so I'm assuming it's made up.

I've been studying the postcard next to the image taken from Google that was posted earlier. (thank you!)
On the right hand side the marina is different. The portion filled in with land on the postcard is the Veterans' Park Pond. Seems odd only that part seems changed.
The bridges look odd. What's with the 4 square buildings around them in the postcard that do not appear to be there on the postcard? The bridge on N6th Street seems totally destroyed, as do large portions of the road itself (as already pointed out).
Maybe just me not being from Milwaukee, but there seem to be a lot less houses in the postcard than on the Google maps.

Hey, everyone. I've been following this on SA and here on Unfiction, and just joined. I live right outside Milwaukee, so I'm hopping I'll be able to get in on some of the action!

I took the countdown file and ran it through a Flash decompiler so I could get at the source code. Nothing's hidden in there, but I can confirm it's counting down to noon on January 16, 2009, in whatever timezone your computer is in.

Code:
countdown_mc.startCountdown(2009, 1, 16, 12, 0, jump, sc, "f3f3ec", snd);

Code:
startCountdown - function (yr, mo, da, ho, mi, nextYear, timeScript, color, snd)

I've seen this referenced as 5:00 UTC, but that technically isn't accurate. It's just 12 noon, local time. I imagine it's supposed to be Milwaukee time (CST, GMT -6), but when I called 414-688-7035 and got the voice mail, times were given in EST (GMT -5), so I suppose that's possible as well. The pbwiki should be updated to show noon, not midnight.

And in regards to wikis, I'm guessing it would be a Good Thing (TM) to have one "official" source of information. Is there some way we can decide if we'll be using the pbwiki or the wikibruce site?

I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but it seems like quite a few people have already started to use the pbwiki one I set up yesterday. I would be happy to redirect people to the other wiki if it starts to have more info and is used more.

Postcard

I'm from Milwaukee.. None of those buildings on the postcard are real.
The layout of the roads are pretty close, aside from being destroyed, that is.

Everything in these videos points to Milwaukee being rebuilt somewhere else...NY perhaps?

I googled the PO Box on thisismymilwaukee.com to see if any hits would come up. Only two point back to the site came up, but they have some numbers after them in the description that are different. They don't match up with the countdown , and I can't find them on the page or in the source.

Any ideas what they are?

Pops concert

I think we need to decipher the pops concert sheet. It's given too much prevalence in the video to be ignored.

Looking at the first few lines and the extra e in Kelley, the missing n in 'A American' and the missing D in Armageddon, we get END, but that's skipping the Julia Roberts. Could there be something to the missing and extra letters?

The formatting is all over the place: some titles are underlined, but not all; only one name is underlined; some titles are capitalized, some are not; the 'star w ars' stands out, too.

With the missing letters and other oddities, I'm wondering if there's some kind of anagram or cipher at work here.

More Chinese stuff:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/thebruce0/3056957908/in/set-72157609933410609/

I did a number of strokes search (7), and the character looks like "chi4" on this: http://www.mandarintools.com/cgi-bin/charlook.pl

It translates to "red; communist, "red"; bare".

If you click on the actual entry (http://www.mandarintools.com/cgi-bin/wordlook.pl?word=%E8%B5%A4&searchtype=trad&where=start), it doesn't translate it as communist anymore. It says Scarlet. Not sure why there's a difference in translations on the same site.

As I mentioned before, sci-fi worlds that have a prevalent Chinese influence on culture seem to touch on themes of war between two super nations. If the character actually is referring to communism, then that would also evoke thoughts of war between America and China.

Yes, it means "red" - but I figured it was more there to stay "in style" with the anime-esque ending sequence (it has the same meaning in Japanese, pronounced "aka"). You never know though.

Hi! I've put up the main video and 14251612181818198HD as high-quality MP4 downloads on my website:

http://bunnitude.com/misc/milwaukee/

Also, there are screencaps of each page of credits (with annotations for the BG art) in the credits/ folder.
