Maybe...that's why I asked about it, but didn't really get an answer...looking back, I should have asked more about her friend and that she mentioned that we were told SOVnet was down, but she didn't give me much time..

If SOVnet is down, shouldn't we be trying to hack it? It is, after all, only for those in the Soviet Union...but where is it?

One other note...

Did anyone notice that http://crowne.mfbiz.com/ has a countdown in the top right corner??

Hi
probably irrelevant but Elbrus is a mountain -the highest in Europe - it seperates Russia and the southern states of Azerbaydzan, Georgia and Armenia.

Drop Update - Houston, TX, Rothko Chapel

I apologize for taking so long to respond. As you can imagine, with Thanksgiving tomorrow, I have been incredibly busy getting ready for relatives to arrive.

I managed to finally scan and upload everything that was included in the drop. You can find all the pictures here at my photobucket: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v287/x_chicabonita_x/psychosis%20trio/

I arrived yesterday to pick up the drop at the chapel. Unfortunately, I was in such a hurry that I didn't have a chance to read the instructions located on the fortune cookie paper instructing me to sign in, so I went back earlier this morning and signed into the book. I found the link to the following site.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Sovnet-1502.+83.net/

EDIT: Meh, I guess I read the url wrong, thanks to natas, the + should actually be the letter 't'. My bad. Laughing

Inside the container were two rolled up documents, and a set of paper Russian matryoshka dolls. The last doll had the fortune cookie paper clipped to it with the instructions.

The first document was the photo provided below. On the back of the photo was a map. Seeing the numbers and layout led me to think it was a map of the Houston area. I am not for certain though. But this may mean there is another location to visit.

I hope that this was helpful and I am pretty sure I checked everything before I left the chapel. Please feel free to email me if you have concerns as I won't be on here much for the next few days. Smile[/spoiler]

Great! Thanks Summerchild!

Now we have a better idea how Crowne fits in this whole thing. Sovnet-1502.+83.net/ yields no results. Maybe we should tell Natascha to ask her friend to log in that address before SovNet disappears altogether.

By the way, the photobucket album is asking for a password. Not that we need it, since all the images are here anyways, but just in case you didn't notice.

EDIT: The black box originally held bullets for FALL rifles (5.56 mm bullets). God, the most scary thing of it all is that my mom was the one who noticed.

If you look at the drawing above ( the rudimentary triangle shaped map), It points us once again to Bryan Texas at the intersection of 21 and 6

Here's the translation from Russian of the mp3 file:

Dear comrades, citizens, soldiers, creative personnel and friends of the Soviet union, the death of the head of government of the Soviet Union is an irrevocable loss for our state. But the sad truth about his being but a puppet of "the west" fills me with shame for my fatherland. That is why I am forced to assume the reins of government. I know we will rise from the ashes of this tragedy and we will be ready to hail the dawn of the new era celebrated by the victory of Soviet Union and communism. Our state has a great future and the brilliant idea of the world revolution lead by the working class will be put into action. The reactionary (conservative) period that lasted for 17 years is over. We will return to the true way of communism and rally the shaken union. Let the traitors be vindicated! Let our Union grow strong!

I'd like to add that even though the voice was slightly distorted by some kind of a noise gate or other audio effect, the speaker seems to have a certain accent that shows that he has not been speaking Russian for a rather long period of time. A few stylistic mistakes and inaccuracies prove the same. I'd wager that the speaker has actually spent quite a bit of time in "the west" and most likely lived in Ukraine before that Smile

This info might be irrelevant tho Smile

Thanks for Pancito for getting me into this Wink Always glad to help.

The picture with the winged star:

The words on the outer limits of the circle: KGB - Information warfare technology division.

The title below the star says: Project Elbrus
It's this Elbrus that they mean: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elbrus

no, that drawing is definitely of bryan tx. All the roads match up. Elbrus probably refers to the Elbrus 9000 Supercomputer on the www.soviet-star.com site

ETA: using the hint to find a chapel from houstondrop_04.jpg... I came up with the idea to look for chapels in Bryan TX, and came up with this...

Thanks a ton, Komissar. isn't the range of people and skills here amazing? Anyway, good work all. *cheer*

Have a happy Turkey Day. I give thanks for YOU. [among many other things].

ETA: The winged thingy behind the star is a seraphim... Thanks Toasty. All the triangle does is point us at Bryan, which we also have from Psych3. Probably need more before we can do a pick-up.

And Natasha sent me a gift on Facebook wishing me a "happy Capitalist Season!" I feel so special. Very Happy

Seraphim, that was it! I've been googling similar stuff all day (Sephiroth and Lilith, for example). It's the kinda thing that drives you mad when you have it on the tip of your tongue.

On finding chapels near Bryan, I don't think that's it. The clue to search in the signing book was for the Rothko Chapel, wasn't it?
