Re: Multiple accounts?

Yep. Several people here have done it. You have to spend time fiddling with the questions to figure out which answers get you a particular account.
I haven't found the Secret Archives of the other families particularly enlightening so far, though.

It's been done. I'll second that, no major secrets are in the other archives.

Embarassed Sorry Alice, I didn't see you had already answered this. But then what difference do two answers make when the question could have been answered by reading through the previous posts in the forum? Rolling Eyes

my notes from the live videocast where Whoopi interviews Gordon Korman
Quote:
VideoCast
-----------
Michael Phelps is a Cahill

Gordon Korman is a Janus.
His username is GKAmadeus.

Korman's son is a Lucian.

"Double Cross" is a new aspect of the game. Another competition (similar to Arena 39)
You are able to "trade" cards with other players - able to "double cross" them, give them false information.
Maybe this will explain the point of sharing the surveillance cards, and how to "combine" cards.
Quote:

"There is a twist about the cat."

"The Man in Black is a central character"
"Read One False Note, and there may be a clue or two regarding the Man in Black."

"Nobody knows where Mozart is buried, since he died penniless"
"Maria Anna Mozart aka 'Nannerl': every bit as talented as her brother, but not encouraged to excel."

Q&A
"Korman asks us 'What was Mozart spending his money on?' "
Question "Starlings were eliminated in Book 1, will anyone be eliminated in Book 2"
Answer - "one of the teams have to pay the ultimate price in an upcoming book" - ie. he didn't actually answer the question.

Question "What does Amy & Dan's mother have to do with the 39 Clues?"
Answer - "Amy & Dan's parents also had secrets." - ie. he didn't actually answer the question.

Question "Once the big hunt is over, will Amy & Dan live alone?"
Answer - "maybe - if they don't die first"

Question "Could brother/sisters be part of different branches?"
Answer - "Wolfgang & Nannerl were both Janus. It's possible (maybe someone quitting a branch). " - ie. he didn't actually answer the question.

Question "Is William McIntyre a member of the Cahill family?"
Answer - "I'm not allowed to tell. He is more than he seems. As younger man, he was part of elite special unit."

2nd 39 clue card pack coming out in June 2009 includes a William McIntrye card.

Question from Whoopi "What will happen in Book 3?"
Answer "Hunt is crazier... " interupted by Peter Lerangis, author of Book 3. "I've got a scrambler attached to me, that prevents me from speaking about the plot of Book 3"
He reveals the cover for book 3 - Red with ninja swords and shuriken.
The Sword Thief - March 3, 2009.

There will be an online Q&A at 3pm EST today at http://www.scholastic.com/kids/39clues/
And a replay of the hour long videocast will also be online after that time.
If someone watches the re-play, try to get more details about the "double cross" - maybe a screen shot.

Transcript for Live Forum: 'Chat with Gordon Korman', Mon Dec 01 14:33:02 EST 2008, User: _sapagoo_
Moderator: Okay, everyone, we're going to get started now!
Gordon_Korman: Hi everybody, thanks so much for joining the online chat.
Gordon_Korman: I'm really psyched for the release of ONE FALSE NOTE tomorrow!
Moderator: Over the next hour, Gordon will be answering YOUR questions.
Moderator: But first, let's start with some very special pre-submitted questions.
Moderator: We asked kids to submit questions for the webcast ahead of time. Then you voted on which question would be asked during the live event. You picked the winning question -- Which character are you most like: Ian Kabra, Natalie Kabra, Dan Cahill, or Amy Cahill?
Moderator: You'll have to watch the webcast replay for Gordon Korman's answer! But Gordon Korman is here now to answer the four runners-up!
Moderator: From Matthew in TX: What branch do you think is the strongest?
Gordon_Korman: I guess you mean military-wise, as in which branch could defeat another in "combat"?
Gordon_Korman: The Lucians are obviously the most strategy-oriented. But my money's on the Ekaterina branch, because they have the greatest innovation, being the inventors of the family -- as I mentioned in the webcast!
Gordon_Korman: My "nightmare scenario" would be an Alliance between the scheming of the Lucians and the inventing of the Ekats.
Moderator: Here's the next runner-up -- From Matt in PA: What's your favorite thing about Amy Cahill?
Gordon_Korman: Her quiet strength. I think she can come across as timid, as first. But deep down, she can access a great reservoir of strength and resourcefulness.
Moderator: Here's the next runner-up -- From Kevin in NJ: Have any of your books influenced the way you act in your life?
Gordon_Korman: Um... I certainly don't go out and do many of the things my characters do -- particularly in The 39 Clues! (nobody ever offered me a million dollars to join a treasure hunt!)
Gordon_Korman: But I think that, since I've been writing for kids, since I was twelve, the type of person I am today has been greatly shaped by the fact that I'm a writer.
Moderator: And here's the final runner-up -- From Susan in TN: Did you travel to all the places in the book to research it?
Gordon_Korman: By coincidence, I've been to Vienna on a European tour. But I've not been to the other locations Amy and Dan visit in ONE FALSE NOTE.
Gordon_Korman: It was great to look around Vienna and get a sense of what Amy and Dan would be seeing there, and to be honest -- central Vienna was not so different from Mozart's Vienna.
Gordon_Korman: The other locations I had to research, but I love researching. Since I started writing so young, research has been great way for me to bridge the gap between my own age and the age of my readers.
_Chessman2_: I'm Daniel J. and I went to French Road Elementary School last year and you came there. How do you get ideas for books?
Gordon_Korman: Obviously, ONE FALSE NOTE was an exception, since I was very much part of a larger story arc in the whole 39 Clues world.
Gordon_Korman: Outside 39 Clues, my ideas tend to come from experience, research, observation, and "what if" thinking.
_mrozje_: Is it hard to keep the secrets about the book?
Gordon_Korman: You've just hit on one of the TOUGHEST things about 39 Clues!
Gordon_Korman: It's all about secrecy here -- not so much just what people know, but also when they know it.
Gordon_Korman: And I owe a debt to the authors who come after me in the series to release only the right information at the right time.
Gordon_Korman: So I'm always worried about messing up -- but it's also really cool! It's as if I'm in on this HUGE SECRET SOCIETY and everybody on the outside wants to know what we already know.
_22doodlemaster_: Which book in the series do we meet Paul Addison?
Gordon_Korman: That's one of those secrets I'm not quite authorized to divulge at this point. Sad
Gordon_Korman: But I can say that if you play the online game, you just might meet Paul in Mission One.
Gordon_Korman: And if you collect cards, you just might pick up a hint about Paul and the mystery of the Loch Ness monster.
_pdawg6332_: what branch was grace from?
Gordon_Korman: Whoa, you guys are really trying to get me in trouble here!
Gordon_Korman: All I can say is . . . STAY TUNED because Grace's Cahill identity is one of the central mysteries of the entire series.
_WillTreaty_: You said that you were afraid of Lucians... how do you feel about the Tomas' and the Ekaterinas?
Gordon_Korman: As a sports fan, I have to appreciate the Tomas branch which, among many others, has given us some of the greatest athletes of all time.
Gordon_Korman: Like Michael Phelps!
Gordon_Korman: and Babe Ruth!
Gordon_Korman: But I think even with Lucians and Ekaterinas -- All of the Cahill branches in fact -- because we're dealing with such incredibly gifted individuals, the potential for good is infinite, but you always have to worry about these people using their powers in an anti-social or dangerous way.
Jan Elliott: Have your children read your book yet? Do they know the secrets that you are having to keep mum about?
Gordon_Korman: My son Jay who is nine -- the LUCIAN -- is hooked on the series. But my other two kids are six and three, so they're not quite 39 Clues fans yet.
Gordon_Korman: Even so, I haven't told Jay any of the top-secret information, just because I don't want to put the responsibility on his shoulders to keep quiet in his fourth-grade class.
_maryag28_: On the cover art for One False Note, Who is pictured in the shard? Is it W.A.Mozart, his sister, or DaVinci's Mona Lisa?
Gordon_Korman: Wrong on all three counts -- but it's a really good catch!
Gordon_Korman: That face belongs to someone VERY important. But you have to read ONE FALSE NOTE very carefully to figure out who it is.
_WillTreaty_: What is your favorite card?
Gordon_Korman: I love the Loch Ness card, which pretty much admits that the Ekaterina branch faked the Loch Ness monster, one of the greatest mysteries of the 20th century.
Gordon_Korman: But as I said in the webcast, my Lucian son has the ultra-rare X-ray card, just another huge asset in the hands of those Lucians.
_CahillFan332_: Is the title, one false note, regarding a misdirecting letter, or a musical note?
Gordon_Korman: Nice call -- yes, you've instantly identified the multiple meaning of the title.
Gordon_Korman: Again, that's something you'll have to read the book to find out. I would say it's at least a DOUBLE meaning - possibly a TRIPLE meaning . . .
_22doodlemaster_: Is Vienna a stronghold for one ofthe four branches?
Gordon_Korman: Vienna has been a hotbed of Cahill activity for hundreds of years. But there is no secret stronghold there.
Gordon_Korman: Amy and Dan do discover a stronghold in ONE FALSE NOTE, in their hunt -- but it turns out to be where they least expect it!
_jonster12_: Hi Mr. Korman, I am a big fan of your books. I'd like to know if you also participating in the clue hunt. If you are, what branch are you and how interested are you?
Gordon_Korman: I'm a Janus, and I'm participating in the clue hunt as much as I can. But because of the unfair advantage I have, as the author of ONE FALSE NOTE, I can't compete with everyone else.
Gordon_Korman: (Now, if I were a Lucian, I'd probably be competing BECAUSE of my unfair advantage, but that's another story . . . )
_Chessman2_: My friend can't come and do this because she has band at school, so she gave a question: Did you play an instrument? If you did, did you miss anything you wanted to do?
Gordon_Korman: Yes, I am a failed clarinetist from High School, and a college guitar-strummer.
Gordon_Korman: But Mozart can feel comfortable that his legacy is in no danger from me. Smile
_bgefbgef_: Do we learn why Grace had a secert library in any of the books?
Gordon_Korman: Grace was as involved in the hunt for the 39 Clues as any Cahill in history.
Gordon_Korman: So, a secret research library was a great tool for that. But, I get the impression Grace was the type of person who would have her own library anyway.
_skyroom22_: Hi Mr. Korman and Ms. Meloto! We are Mr. Bentz's class from California, the ones on the webcast! Our question is Who are the Madrigals?
Gordon_Korman: Honestly, if I answered that question, I would never leave the Scholastic building alive. =/
Gordon_Korman: Sorry to disappoint, but you're really digging at the heart of The 39 Clues mystery.
Gordon_Korman: But I HAVE heard about some of the postings on your classroom blog, and I have to say that you guys are doing some really great thinking! You would do very well on The Hunt. Keep up the good work!
Gordon_Korman: But if there's a knock on your classroom door and a woman with a Russian accent wants to come in . . .
_Skyline11_: We are Miss Campbell's class (the other class from the California webcast). Kelly's question: Do you like the idea of different authors writing different books in a series?
Gordon_Korman: I've come to love it! I love the idea of different peoples' creativity adding up as the series progresses. I never could have written ONE FALSE NOTE without THE MAZE OF BONES. And the future books will continue to build on what we've started. It's really exciting.
_cocoboy_: Did Grace really create the clue hunt?
Gordon_Korman: While the contest officially started in Grace's will, members of the Cahill family have been searching for the clues for centuries. We already know that Ben Franklin was mixed up in it. And in ONE FALSE NOTE, readers will see that Mozart himself became obsessed with The Hunt for the mysterious source of the family's power.
_bubblegum321_: How many people are in the Cahill family?
Gordon_Korman: A HUGE number -- we're talking about five centuries of descendants!
Gordon_Korman: And not every Cahill knows his or her true identity. Amy and Dan only learned of their remarkable family at Grace's funeral.
Gordon_Korman: But as we know, the Cahill family is the most powerful on earth. And whoever finds The 39 Clues will literally be, the most powerful person in the world!
_cocoboy_: Do you know who will write all the other books?
Gordon_Korman: My friend Peter Lerangis has already written THE SWORD THIEF, which is book three.
Gordon_Korman: Book four will be written by Jude Watson, and that's coming out in June '09.
Gordon_Korman: Book five will be written by Patrick Carman.
_Cagedman_: Do you wish that you were a cahill so you could find the mysterius power and be ultra powerfull!?!
Gordon_Korman: That's something I feel about ALL of my books -- but ONE FALSE NOTE in particular. The 39 Clues world is so intriguing that I found myself wishing I could be a greater part of it.
Gordon_Korman: But that's the beauty of this series -- readers can join The Hunt and help their branches by uncovering secret documents and codes, and by finding actual clues in The Hunt.
Moderator: Unfortunately, we're almost out of time. We have time for just a couple more questions.
_skyroom22_: Why did Hope Cahill store a clue in her hand?
Gordon_Korman: There are only 39 Clues, so every single one is precious.
Gordon_Korman: Hope obviously had that clue implanted in her arm to keep it from falling into the hands of the other branches, possibly even the Lucians.
Gordon_Korman: Over the generations, the branches have gone to incredible lengths to gain the upper hand over their rivals.
Gordon_Korman: In fact, this is why the strongholds were created in the first place -- to serve as command centers in the hunt for The 39 Clues.
Moderator: Time for our last question!
_WillTreaty_: Do you want Dan and Amy to win?
Gordon_Korman: I've enjoyed writing about many of the characters in the Cahill family. Jonah Wizard and Irina Spasky are a couple of my favorites from a WRITING stand point.
Gordon_Korman: But there's no way you can write a book in this series without rooting for Amy and Dan. They're such natural underdogs -- so outgunned by their competition -- and yet, their courage and character shines through even in the darkest moments on The Hunt.
Moderator: Well, that's all the time that we have. Gordon, thanks so much for chatting today! Do you have anything you'd like to add before signing off?
Gordon_Korman: This has been so much fun -- thanks for logging into the chat! I hope you have a great time with ONE FALSE NOTE. I'll see you on The Hunt!
Moderator: Thanks for joining us for today's chat with Gordon Korman, author of THE 39 CLUES: ONE FALSE NOTE. A transcript will be available online soon.
Moderator: Don't forget to catch the replay of the webcast on www.scholastic.com/39clues.

ps: My local Target already has Book 2 out on the shelves.

Double Cross Table Top Card Game

I watched the video archive, and got more details about the "table top card game Double Cross"
at 17:10 minutes in the broadcast:
DoubleCross - table top card game
"Another thing you can do with cards you already have."
"Send your card agents out on secret missions, and spy on other Cahills. A lot of sabatoging the competition."

This was discussed on page 69 of this thread, and on several pages prior to that.

To get the fourth clue:

As many people have said earlier in the thread - you need card #60 to get that fourth clue. That's pretty much it.
...
Ultimately it's all about having entered a code for card #60.

If you don't have card #60, and you are collecting physical cards, then you'll have to buy more cards or pay for it on ebay. (good luck)
If you are writing them in New York (only costs 2 stamps per request), then keep writing. I've got 4 requests for virtual card pack codes, and 1 request for Book #2 codes in the mail right now.

Again, this has been answered elsewhere. You have to buy the card packs. Card 60 is only in them.

A very confusing game played with the cards is not what I was expecting for the update to the web page. I se clue 5 is available so I'm assuming you need to enter the code from the book to get it?

Darned book stores here, they don't have them in yet. A few more weeks I was told. Don't anyone spoil the book for me.
