take a look at the video on that page, is the guy tying his tie the same actor as basketball guy?

looks like they have offices based in new york, this could explain why all the footage came from around there. I think the TIMM PM's may have just used these guys to make the video, but i dont feel like it's going to to be a promotion for howcast.

EDIT: here's the actual how to video with him in it tying the tie (this guy is crazy Laughing ):

The director of that video, Thomas Bender, lists the Alliance of Youth Movements as an organization of which he's a member. That leads here:

http://youthmovements.howcast.com/

Which looks like Teen Howcast, but they're planning a Summit this week, and you'll recall that the Youth Summit in Milwaukee has been canceled because of mold and rats.

Bender and a bunch of other people joined this about 8 hours ago.

That's a pretty...interesting...site. I wonder if the youth of Milwaukee are going to be protesting Blackstar? Maybe they just want a support group for those who have had godseed encounters? Maybe I'm crazy?

this is bordering on lame, man. if the PMs were truly "in it", at least a note in e-mail today woulda kept people interested.

Don't sour on this so soon. It's been about 10 days since launch, a good part of which was a holiday weekend. During that time we've received two videos, solved a puzzle that led to a real world drop, and placed countless phone calls to in game characters. That's pretty active as far as ARGs go.

Some games can go weeks without updates. Some launches take place weeks, even months, before the bulk of gameplay begins. That's just the nature of the genre.

Many of the people who produce these games do so in their spare time, with little budget, simply out of love for what they're doing. If you love, like, or are at least mildly amused by what you've seen so far, give the PMs the benefit of the doubt and hang around a bit. With what they've put into this so far, it seems like we've got a lot to look forward to.

yeah, you're right, PL. thanks for the perspective. i'm in and will wait around for something to happen. something tells me the wait will be worth it! at this point i just would like to see these guys answer the phone for someone, you know?

patience is a virtue and all...

it hasn't been reported in here yet, so I'll mention it... take it with a grain of salt as this is unconfirmable as official.
Last night "MIKE_RUSSO" entered #milwaukee and quickly said:
Quote:
THE INFORMATIONAL BOOKLET WILL BE AVAILABLE A.S.A.P. STOP
THE MILWAUKEE TOURISM COMMISSION THANKS YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING STOP
END

obviously this could have been anyone, but it's worth passing on here for what it's worth

I apologize for my ignorance, but if he was just messing around with his friends that also saw the video, does that constitute "trolling" the ARG in the common sense of the word?

I didn't mean to say that Mason was intentionally trolling, just that he probably made the post claiming to have a job with blackstar, which could have been considered a clue (because he was establishing himself as an in-game character without the PMs backing) and decided to remove the post to avoid misleading others. Sort of like unintentional trolling. Wink Or maybe someone else picked up on it and started bombarding him with questions about blackstar.

Either way, I didn't mean to accuse him of any wrong-doing. Just pointing out my logic leading to the conclusion that Mason isn't directly involved. As someone else said, we probably aren't expected to dig through the internet's garbage can to look for deleted clues. Very Happy

I couldn't look at it beyond a cursory glance, but it looks like it's not finished yet. Links either aren't there or just point back to howcast.com.

For an organization that's having a summit starting tomorrow, you'd think the website would be further along.

Apparently Youtube, Google, and Facebook are in on it, as well as... Whoopi Goldberg.

So I just got back from the post office, the juneau post office is the 53203 zip code and that PO box 511602 does exist.

Unfortunately when I talked to the workers there they would not give me any information on who owned the PO box Mad I told them I had read that the info was public knowledge if it was a business, and they still wouldn't give me anything... Also I was unable to leave my note in the PO box unless it was in an envelope and stamped Crying or Very sad oh well, at least now we know it's a legitimate address!

You know, I think we might be really missing something on the Hoopeston thing.

It's entirely possible that the Hoopeston page is related to this, considering that there is a dearth of information available about the actual movie, the number of basketball (shootin' hoops? c'mon) references in the ThisIsMyMilwaukee video, and the weird similarities between the Hoopeston page and other things seen in the ARG vid. that, and all of the references to the Hoopeston movie on wikipedia were added recently and they all cite the Synydyne page.

it's probably a real movie - reviews attest to that! - but i think it is more linked somehow.

That, and why on earth wouldn't the Hoopeston page be linked to from the Synydyne front if it was actually important and not part of the ARG?

edit: it also mentions canning, and the Hoopeston trailer is done by - NIM Projects.
