red herring?

Googling again, as I have no mathematical skills whatsoever, and I stumbled upon this:

http://www.gamingw.net/forums/index.php?PHPSESSID=62869f2fe821e62f97b6ebf03370e5ed&action=printpage;topic=76318.0

the title reads "tog [tales of games] got a shoutout in a viral marketing video..." and apparently someone from TIMM contacted these folks to make sure they were aware of the shout-out.

I don't know if this means anything, but it seems like these people have an angle we are missing. Unless this has been covered. I read the whole thread, and searched. Hope I am not being repetitive.

Also, uploaded a .ZIP of all the full-size photos for people who don't want to/don't know how to extract a PDF.

Edit: Ok - so new to the Forums here, and couldn't find info on this: is the Trailhead only for the beginning of the game? When new sections are released, does the discussion move to the new part of the game/clue?

Basically the trailhead is the beginning of the game. It could be a website, an email, or a text message...etc....

Someone posts the trailhead in the news and rumors section of the forums and we all try to figure out if it's a ARG or not. Depending on the scale of the game (the number of players and posts..) the game might warrant being moved to the CF with potential area....that way we don't have to go through pages upon pages of posts to get information about a particular aspect of the game. Some games are small enough to be played entirely in News and Rumors (like Lif3, which just ended). If the game gets even bigger we might even get our own forum for it....

I hope this makes sense....anyone correct me if I am wrong about something. This is just what I have gathered thus far....I have not been around too long myself.

yep that's about it. fairly streamlined. there may be exceptions, but it's essentially up to the mods/admins to make the final calls, of course. It (typically) takes a large ARG to get its own forum... usually that's when sorting threads into larger categories is helpful, or there are too many threads and it convolutes other games being played out in the CFwith potential forum.

Cool. Makes sense.

Also, a cross-post: Due to a discussion in the chat about following new posts, I have created a Yahoo Pipe of new This is My Milwaukee posts here in the forum just for ease of use - and to prevent battering the unfiction forum with needless F5ing. It takes all new posts to the forum and shows only TIMM-related posts.

You may find it here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/TimmUnfictionForumThreads
Currently, I am designing a pipe for the hardcore TIMMers. It will include feeds (with filters, of course) from most of the main pages so we can keep up. Cheers!

Edit: Completed it! Here is the all-sources link for "hardcore" TIMMers. http://feeds.feedburner.com/TimmSuperpipe

PO Boxes

Regarding the matter of the Real But Unfindable PO Box, I think some box numbers are not actual, physical mailboxes accessible from the PO lobby, but rather back-office collection bins for outfits that receive HUGE volumes of mail, which would then be picked up or delivered by truck to the recipient's office, or the PO Box may be entirely virtual and actually get forwarded directly to a real address.

Sorry - last feed post...

This is for the people collecting all the clues who want to keep up easily - and thoroughly. I have spent the last couple hours creating a Yahoo pipe that compiles and tags information from sources all around the net (currently this forum, thebruce's wiki, and Chuck's Twitter page) and outputs it in a simple easy-to-follow format. You can subscribe through RSS, phone, email, etc.

http://feeds.feedburner.com/TimmSuperpipe

I will attempt to update as often as I can with new sources. Suggestions would be awesome.

And as I posted last time: the other, simpler forum-only pipe can be found here:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/TimmUnfictionForumThreads

Hope these help someone. Last time I'll post like this. Sorry to interrupt!

Edit: I updated the feeds as FeedBurner links for redundancy, flexibility, and statistics. ^_^

I'm surpised no one mentioned this famous quote by Voltaire:

"If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him."

Which is exactly what Blackstar did.

What I love about that is it's not an either or. Even if God exists, some may still feel the need to invent him. or any.
Blackstar invented one anyway Smile

Someone has mentioned it before, Grue, somewhere amidst the 73 pages or so. Razz

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I just saw a commercial on the SciFi channel. It was the words "January 16" (the day the countdown seemingly goes to) on a blank background and the voice of a boy saying "Come on dad, let's get out of here before they find us".

I figure it could be related.

Someone mentioned earlier that Battlestar Galacta's new season starts on January 16th. I think that show is on SciFi, but I'm not sure. If so, that may be the commercial you saw. There's been a little discussion about whether or not this may be related, but I don't think any conclusions were made.

Edit:
In fact, Battlestar Galactica is just about the only thing on SciFi January 16th. I guess they're having a marathon to kick off the new season. http://www.scifi.com/schedulebot/index.php3?date=16-JAN-2009&feed_req=
