[SLA] St. Laudine's Organizations
Organizations, Fellowships - Cursory research and discussion

Since nobody has discussed these as of yet, nor particularly signed up for any of the fellowships (with the exception of a post in Andromeda), I thought it wise to point these out and at least do some basic research.

The Fellowship forums are located under "My Organizations" from the control panel, or at the following link: http://mycampus.stlaudines.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=71

There are a total of 3, each named after a Constellation and I'll discuss each inline.

Andromeda

Wikipedia links:
Constellation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andromeda_(constellation)
Greek Mythology: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andromeda_(mythology)

Faculty Sponsor: Professor Markov (Werewolf)

Welcome Post
Welcome to the forums of the noble Fellowship of Andromeda. We are pleased this year to extend the bond of fellowship to our students learning from home. The Fellowship of Andromeda encourages students to uphold the honor of our school by service to the school, by the demonstration of commitment to peace among all species, and by the pursuit of excellence in all subjects and competitions. We invite you to be an integral part of our tradition.

Cygnus
Wikipedia links:
Constellation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cygnus_(constellation)
Greek Mythology: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cycnus

Faculty Sponsor: Professor Joliet (Chanuque)

Welcome Post
The Fellowship of Cygnus extends a warm welcome to all of our online students this year. Our Fellowship demands the highest standards from the students in its hallowed halls. Our tradition includes a firm commitment to cooperation among the many species that study at St. Laudine's Academy as well as outstanding marks in all subjects, with special concentration on both the social and the pure sciences.

Eridanus
Wikipedia links:
Constellation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eridanus_(constellation)
Greek Mythology: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eridanos_(mythology)

Faculty Sponsor: Professor Singh (Angel)

Welcome Post
The Fellowship of Eridanus is dedicated to the gathering and dissemination of knowledge for the benefit of the Awlyn. High performance, sharp minds, and consistent standards of excellence are demanded of students assigned to the Eridanus Fellowship. We welcome our online students and do them the honor of expecting no less of you who learn at a distance than of our boarding students.

In the Introductions thread we are told to express our interest if we would like to be in a certain Fellowship, like if our parents once attended. I said in my intro post that my mom was once a member of Andromeda but I haven't posted in the Andromeda thread yet. I guess I was waiting for confirmation of being accepted but simply asking for a Fellowship may be all we need to do.

lirpapril, did you get any kind of confirmation?

I'm like Jain, I was waiting until we put on the Sorting Hat...er I mean were placed in our respective fellowships. I did post interest in joining Cygnus, though.

I do not think that wa can choose a fellowship:
All students will be assigned to the fellowships based on several undisclosed criteria. The fellowships will be familiar to any student who has attended at our campus or has heard stories from their parents who were alumni of St. Laudine's Academy: Andromeda, Cygnus, and Eridanus.
So we will be assigned to a fellowship. Do not know where you read that we can express our interests, e.g. the same our parents have been.

Under General School Discussions in the Introduce Yourself thread:
Quote:
We're looking for information students may be able to give us that will help us determine which fellowship the may fit in best with. If you parents were alumni of the campus and were a member of a specific fellowship, feel free to voice you desire for that specific fellowship either here or in the forum for that fellowship.

So it does appear that we will have to wait to be assigned to a Fellowship but we can express interest in a specific one if we'd like.

Hey, not sure if I'm supposed to say this or not, but since some of you are looking for a place to express your interest in fellowships. One of the PM's is on IRC taking down preferences at the moment, dunno for how long though.

join irc.chat-solutions.org channel #aap

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Also I said that I didn't really see much of a difference, and he said the main thing was who you were grouped with. He wanted to give those of us on IRC a chance to be grouped together.

Edit: I asked for Andromeda

Sorry it took me so long to answer. I never got a confirmation but I am in Andromeda like I wanted to be so I guess it worked. Now for the challenge.

Oh, I just assumed since we have the blue challenge and you said smurf costume, lol. Why did I have to get the one that ends in anus?

ETA: It appears that we all have the same challenge, that's why I was confused.

totally a member of the Andromeda fellowship... this can get very interesting with so many interesting challenges awaiting us all as we progress... A little "friendly" competition it seems? Oh the possibilities... Very Happy

I received a letter from St. Laudine's Academy dated August 29th, that was accidentally placed in a magazine rack Bang Head and just noticed ten minutes ago. I don't have time to read it as I'm sure it's probably trout.

Basically a letter of acceptance.

GRR... stupid stupid
