Re: M-Rotors

Could be. I think the problem is, if the M-rotor issue is public knowledge, and they're installed in robots, then people would have to have widespread knowledge of robots, and they wouldn't be a secret.

If an M-rotor fails, and needs to be reseated, it must be doing something to them to a degree at which they cannot be saved. It seems sort of like when people are bitten by zombies. You just get rid of them, because there's nothing else you can do...It's not insensitive, it's just all that can be done.

Duh to me. Agreed, it cannot be a secret if the general public get issued warnings. That said, it doesn't mean that individuals aren't robots "in the closet" so to speak.

Remember during the slideshow in the video? There is a guy hiding in a building pictured at least twice, who has a shiny metallic left arm. There isn't a pic on Wikibruce, so you'd have to go to the video itself. He's shown in the doorway with a briefcase in one, and in the other he's walking right, and all you see is the metallic arm shown through the doorway, still holding the briefcase.

I'm looking through the Haven booklet again to see if anything relates to this idea.

What if there are actually two parallel universes within the game world? "Blackstar merger" is the point where two timelines merge.

DOR 4 = ACT 5 = 2003 (Blackstar merger)

DOR 0 = ACT 9 = 2007 (Wichita Connection)

ACT 10 = 2008

Notice how the copyright on the book says ACT 7, ACT 10, which translates to 2005-2008.

The Dormant Universe (which corresponds to our historical timeline) could be frozen in time. The Active Universe is where all the in-game stuff is happening.

No comments on the two universes theory? I think it explains the dates we have quite well.

I'd guess that the shiny arm was a cybernetic prosthetic, not a robot. What would the point be of a realistic-looking head on a robot body?

I think you've got it. I don't necessarily think two universes, but the numbers match up correctly. I think it is more likely two measurements of time, where they didn't realize exactly that the Dorment Era was over.

I did mention it earlier, where the blackstar merger lines up making ACT 10 2008... Wink (wouldn't be surprised if someone else mentioned it before me too; I recall someone long ago wondering if those two events were the same)

I got the impression that an M-Rotor was biological, or at least related to certain individuals.

Remember the video: "Does he know?"

Mix that in with the idea that there are enough M-Rotors around to be expressing in percentages, it makes me think that they are either robotic, or have robotic parts.

It is a HUGE secret that there are robots, so if someone knows, you have to 'Jettison all affected personel".

With the M-Brass, etc. it makes me think that these robots or robotic parts are made of this new Brass, and the Decatur produces them, maybe in the current ADM plant. (I'm from Bloomington, IL not so far from Decatur.)

Thoughts?

I was thinking, could the "M" designation mean magnetic? Magnetism and turbines are mentioned in the book. Sorry if this has been covered.

Perhaps there are turbines with magnetic rotors designed to act like a city-wide rebreather of some sort - to keep out whatever bad stuff the old Go.D.S.E.E.D. is pumping up through the ground.

Erm...

I don't think it's robots. I think it's some weird language that pertains to a cult protocol.

the table is thoroughly frustrating.
There are patterns, I've tried resorting, shuffling, word/letter matching, 'boggle'ing, etc... nothing's coming out

At least you can do that. I am no good with code stuff so all I can do is sit and re-read the booklet. I have posted the few ideas I have had, but without a cracked code they are pretty pointless.

Forgive me, but is the transcript of the first video hosted somewhere?

I had it, but I can't find it now...

I'm trying to find the exact wording about the "Streetcar Shuffle"

Bruce's wiki has the entire thing laid out really nicely. Let me find a link.

Narrator: "Like the other young professionals, in Milwaukee, Mark and Sally spend their days at Blackstar."

[Whistle blows]

Narrator: "Was that the quittin' whistle? Time to head for the Canning District!"

Auxiliary narrator: "Order that second margarita!"

Narrator: "The 'Milwaukee Margarita' substitutes vermouth for tequila."

Auxiliary narrator: [whispering] "Vermouth!"

Auxiliary narrator: "Now, dance a little closer!"

Narrator: "The 'Streetcar Shuffle' was invented in the Canning District."

Auxiliary narrator: "He doesn't know - does he?"
