This would explain their misconception that we got all our power from the dinosaurs (fossil fuels).

Yeah, and I bet a bunch of people did too. Nothing yet.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I just saw a commercial on the SciFi channel. It was the words "January 16" (the day the countdown seemingly goes to) on a blank background and the voice of a boy saying "Come on dad, let's get out of here before they find us".

I figure it could be related.

I wonder if that's for Cormac MacCarthy's "The Road"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Road

It is a sort of post-apocalypse novel and is supposed to be a motion picture soon, but the TIMM stuff doesn't follow the tone of the book.

Plus I don't have cable so...

 Ello and such

So yeah. Long time lurker, first time poster just putting up some things to help keep the metaphorical gears turning.

+Terry Nanny: this whole leadin account nonsense is quite possibly a fake. Why would it say that he works at Wal-Mart? There's one thing that distrubs me about our friend terry, they acknowledge the fact that he's played by someone else in the movie, but in one of the phone conversations ( about the non-human sex partners) he mentions terry AS IF HE WERE A REAL PERSON! Don't know what to make of it, any ideas? Also, have you noticed that when Nanny steals the ball from that kid, he runs away with it like a football?

+Mike Russo: the pm's seem to have a thing for the enlightened philosophers. Perhaps Russo=Russeau? Maybe check him and the others?

+Hair silhouette: Remember that close-up with the face and if you looked to the right of the picture, it had the silhouette of the girl's hair. Somebodyu said that it looked like it had teeth, that got me thinking, could that possibly be a Go.D.S.E.E.D. fragment or something similiar (i know, i know that one's a bit of a stretch, but the whole teeth thing would kinna fit with the lion description)

+ I don't know if somebody already drew this connection, but the way these people act is like something right out of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

+Golden map: I know it's been debated to death, but I was lookin at it and the part that keeps gettin put at the bottom kinda looks like the eastern tip of Texas if you were to rotate it 90 degrees CW

+Yachi Yachi: Pretty sure that this is also been fake, as it doesn't really give any new information, or even attempt to to, and it's not really in the style of everything else

+Chuck Jagoda: I don't think he's quite as important, but I do think he's worth at least another look or two

+Joey: In all of the conversations where people mentioned housing arraignments, why is joey always pushing houses in the canning district? what's so special about this district? Are there houses anywhere else, and if not, then why not?

+The three girls: Has anybody noticed the strange symbol on the girl in the middle's purse?

+The Flood: Has anybody considered the biblical implications with this one? Or even the possibilty that although they use water to convey the idea, perhaps it's a flood of some other kind? (think Halo 2 here)

+The Chess game: maybe it's not the pieces that we should be focusing on, but rather the board itself. Are there any kind of symbols associated with a checkerboard pattern? or how about the players themselves, perhaps their bewildered expressions aren't a result of Terry interrupting their game, but rather because they don't quite understand how he just completed such a move (or something like that)

+Blackstar: Now this one is gonna be a bit of a stretch> how many people read goosebumps back in the day. well, i picked one up out of sheer boredom and it happened to be the one where the kids are in the trailer and it falls off the hitch and they end up at this bizarre summer camp where everyone is forced to compete in events until they win five gold medals. Anyways, turns out that the winners of the competition are actually brought to this chamber where they have to take care of this creature living in the basement of the office. ANYWAYS, what if this Go.D.S.E.E.D. thing is somehow living in the Blackstar building (from the one picture I saw, it looks pretty massive). Just a thought...

+300 days: Why have we not broke this down more? (months, days, hours, minutes, seconds). So 300 days is roughly around nine months (give or take) right? What is so important about nine months, hmm? that's right, pregnancy! What if this 300 days thing was like an incubation period or something?

+The Streetcar Shuffle: Has anybody else noticed that when the people are dancing, their arms are in the exact same position as they guy (Joe?) who is running down the street during the POWER segment?

+Milwaukee Margarita: Perhaps it's not the types of liquor we should focus on, but rather the countries of origin (Tequila=Mexico, Vermouth=Italy i think)> Could be some significance there, I don't really know

There you go, flame away!

Edit: I just had this revalation almost! Stalin! He made the trains run on time and he was infamous for throwing people in the gulag! Apparently Black Star made the roads and there's that one scene where the guy says "throw him to the godseed fragment". Maybe I'm just crazy?

I used to work for a major medical electronics company called Marquette Electronics that was based in Wisconsin. They were eventually bought by GE.

The font used on the cover of the Reasonable Haven booklet is very close if not the same as Marquette's. I've been looking and I wish I could find a better example but I swear it's almost the same font.

Probably nothing, but maybe something. It jumped out at me.

I believe Go.D.S.E.E.D was buried underneath the canning district (under lots of concrete?). I'm a little confused as to why they would put so much housing over...an area like that.[/quote]

The Art Deco font we're seeing around the place reminds me a lot of Bioshock, too. Again, probably nothing.

Someone mentioned earlier that Battlestar Galacta's new season starts on January 16th. I think that show is on SciFi, but I'm not sure. If so, that may be the commercial you saw. There's been a little discussion about whether or not this may be related, but I don't think any conclusions were made.

Edit:
In fact, Battlestar Galactica is just about the only thing on SciFi January 16th. I guess they're having a marathon to kick off the new season. http://www.scifi.com/schedulebot/index.php3?date=16-JAN-2009&feed_req=

God does come up a LOT in Battlestar Galactica, and when the crew got to Earth at the end of the last season they did find that it was in ruins (so I suppose you could argue that that was due to the Go.D.S.E.E.D. apocalypse), but I don't think the rest of the tone of this ARG and the mentioned commercial fits with the tone of Battlestar Galactica.

About Battlestar - I don't think this really fits them, it's a little too goofy. Then again, it's entirely possible what with how utterly creepy it's got lately.

@Jimmy Page - Pregnancy lasts actually more usually up to ten months (I know, shock and awe!), so your theory might be a solid one, or they might have just chosen an arbitrary not-quite-a-year period of time. I think it's unlikely there's much of this that's actually arbitrary (except the phone ad-libbing at times), so I would definitely follow up on that one.

I don't think it's a reach. I knew I recognized the term 'doleful city' from somewhere. That's written on the sign that Dante and Virgil see before they enter Hell

I think you're right about this being important. On thing, though: this is written over the portal---the gate---into Hell itself (there's only one gate into Hell). This reminds me a lot of the emphasis the relocation guide places on entering through the East Gate, not the North Gate. Is Milwaukee like Hell for some reason?

Or is this a reference to the actual underworld/underground where the Go.D.S.E.E.D. is buried?

Also, how can Milwaukee have an East Gate if it's on Lake Michigan? Is this more proof that "Milwaukee" is actually the city we call New York?

I had assumed that the east gate was the route into the city from grand rapids by water.

A Milwaukeean myself, I know that there is a ferry that runs between Muskegon (west of Grand Rapids on the lake) and Milwaukee -- the lake express ferry

Not sure if any of this is helpful, but other stuff I noticed that I haven't seen mentioned:

- In the Verify scene, the guy with glasses stands and holds his arms in a manner which would signify the letter "B" in semaphore. Adding importance to the second "B" in Bonub on the alarm box. Additionally this shows that the MTC is using semaphores. I have been looking for other places for it but haven't found anything good yet (Dark Dollar positions on the inside cover of M:RH doesn't quite fit).

- The Golden map: Those lines are not lat/long lines. They are range lines you would draw with a compass on a map. So the 5 arcs on the map could be used to indicate 4-5 points by completing the arcs as a circle and finding their midpoint(correspond to the active cities maybe?)

Okay, I came out of nowhere up there, haha. Read this entire thread and the corresponding ones last night, took a few notes, saved the book, etc. Decided to register this morning.

There's a few things I noticed that I don't remember being mentioned or brought up before...

The "come for the weekend, stay for LIFE" part of the video is incredibly eerie. The way it's said, at least, comes off as almost deranged, though that's probably my own imagination. Regardless, has anyone heard any news of people moving away from Milwaukee after moving back?

Would there be any significance to the R NO bar being on [L?]eeker st.? It's possible it was just a street name that means nothing, but I thought I would bring it up.

I have a pretty bright monitor [when everyone was wondering if there were "teeth" in the picture of the man and the woman's hair during the bar scene, I saw it from the original image before any brightening was made] and in 10:58 I could swear there's something behind the fence. Again, probably nothing, probably just an oddly shaped tree.

Why would they be offering so much housing in the Canning District? Every time [I've noticed] that someone calls Joey, he offers a place in the Canning District. If I read right, it was underneath the canning district that they buried Go.D.S.E.E.D... Wouldn't that be a bit dangerous? Does that strike anyone else as odd?

Also, does anyone know if there was any significance to Terry handing the treasure hunter a sort of red gem after [so obviously faking] being concerned about his digging, then "giving in"?

Oh, and if anyone gets time to ask questions over the phone [I might once I work up the courage, I always get so flustered over the phone] they should try asking about any available 'places of worship' for their 'specific religion'. I almost think someone should bring up Wicca, because I remember reading something about Wichita and Milwaukee and an outrage involving "witches" [wiccans, really], but that might have been OOG.
I also think an easier way to ask about non-human sex would be to mention you're single and looking for an "exotic" 'romance' scene.
I think it would be interesting if someone mentioned their son just ate their family tree, too, and see how Joey or Mike reacts, but I'm not sure how you could go about that without sounding strange, since I doubt someone living in Milwaukee would call the tourism department for that.

I've been thinking the same thing. If Go.D.S.E.E.D. is so dangerous why put your base of operations for young professionals' nightlife on top of it? It seems kind of like building a new city over Yucca Mountain.

Younger adults are the ones who would most likely frequent the Canning District, they are also the ones most likely to have children. This along with the stressed importance of teenagers in the video strikes me as something to look into.

I think the bodysnatchers idea further up thread is fairly intriguing. If you've ever seen those movies, one feature of the "snatched" is that they act strangely yet calmly and rationally in their attempts to make you one of them (come to Milwaukee).

The body snatcher idea is interesting, but I'm holding off putting my cards on that because I'm more inclined to believe it has something to do with keeping this particular Go.D.S.E.E.D alive. Perhaps by feeding off of a young person's "energy", making them seem like that. I'm not sure, I'm new to these sorts of things. [ARGs]

I think Blackstar and the MTC are obviously in cahoots to bring people into the canning district for some sort of nefarious purpose, and we'd all be better off sticking with the rebels.
