Info from...

Hey everyone..

I've been trying to get more information from the last member of the psychosis trio who recently sent us all an email. I had asked if the http://sovnet-1502.t83.net/ site was the one he wanted us to monitor and if he knew Natasha...here was his response.

yes, i sent left a book for her when i was in Austria. I will try to fly to Germany this week if i am ever able to drop the package, i just dont know if there is someone in the area to pick it up.

Anyone in Germany who may be able to pick up a package?

Ran the "code.jpg" thru a QR decoder and was informed it has a barcode: 01832541.

Tried without joy using it as an extension at Crowne Defense Systems

Looks like an aztec barcode in four pieces... but I can't find a reader that'll decode it. bcTester does Aztec, but for some reason it's not recognizing it.

Here's the re-connected full code

I ran the analyzer in bctester, too, and it couldn't figure it out... Hmmm... Your patch job looks ok. Dunno

I'm still trying to install NeoReader (http://www.neoreader.com/) on my mobile phone, but it looks like it wont work on my mobile. Maybe someone else is more lucky with that? Is it just a problem with bctester, or do you think that the aztec code may be troubled?

btw, I'm still in Germany, so if there are location-infos within this code, that are close to Berlin, I can help out and get the package.

I just messed with this for about half an hour. When I shrank it bctester was able to find some stuff, but didn't recognize it as aztec. Sort of a false positive. When I ran analysis full size it froze bctester. My computer may be too old and weak to do this, or it may be the software Just in case someone else wants to try it, the download page is at:

I downloaded it and ran it through all of the analysis possibilities...here is what the finished product said...

The analysis was finished.
No barcode could be found.

EDIT: In retrospect, I don't really know how this program works. I ran the analysis again and this is what came up..

I've been fooling around with it, too, and so far, nothing. Well, sometimes it does find things (results returned include "?" and "1"), but apparently they're in portions of the image. I tried inverting it's colors, too (which got me the value "1804"). Wonder what we're doing wrong...

Are we absolutely sure that we pieced it together properly?

afaik, there's no other barcode that has the 'ring' style center, or even a portion of that in a corner.

QR Code is a full layered square in the corner, datamatrix has alternating bits across two sides... there are others, but aztec seems to be the best, if not only, fit.

and the four pieces fit together -perfectly- to form the aztec.
afaik, aztec codes can be pretty huge, so I don't think this one's too big.

generally decoders analyze a diagram, guess an orientation and accomodate for skewing, so it can read a 'line' per column and row to capture bits, then decode them. Generally larger codes work better because the 'lines' have a stronger chance at accuracy (if it's smaller, blurring could reduce or hinder an accurate line reading).

That's how I understand the process, in a nutshell. just not sure why the aztec isn't being picked up by the reader. Sad
I suppose a manual decode could be attempted, but that may take a while at this size =P

I tried doing overlays with them last night to see if something might show up but I didn't have any success. I can't see magic eye pics either though so there might have been something there and I just couldn't make it out.

I think we might need to treat them as something besides a barcode but I don't know what. Confused
