Hey -- I just came across this post today, and it's probably been sorted out by now, but I thought I'd say something here in case this happens again in the future. (Obviously we don't get many new member requests anymore, so we hardly look.)

The message archive should be public for everybody to read, even non-members. After a quick powwow with the other mods today, we've made the Links section public, too. Yahoo doesn't let you make the photos and databases public, though, and there's a lot of meat in there, so I've added a mailto in the landing page telling people to email me if they want to join the group. Hopefully that'll be good enough.
