Dead-Drops
Assistance to PM's, especially those with limited resources

A few players and I are discussing the prospect of starting a group in order to facilitate the placement of dead-drops around the globe. This group will consist of people from a lot of different areas within a lot of different countries.

The reason I thought this would be a good idea is:

    * I noticed a lot of drops occur in the same places over and over
    * A lot of new/grassroots PM's don't have the resources to place dead drops in a different geographical location than nearby where they live
    * A PM from the US (even with the cash) would have a hard time placing a drop in Europe, for instance, if he/she doesn't have contacts there.

That being said. I was wanting to know how existing and future PM's would view this as a tool they might use. I would love feedback before I drop a lot of time and resources into this.

So even if you are just a player wanting to cross the curtain one day, please let me know what you think.

I would definitely, definitely love this. My budget for an ARG usually runs between the lines of nothing to might as well be nothing, so this'd be extremely useful Very Happy

I agree that this is a topic that needs a resolution.

I have no idea natas how it could come about other than posting a thread, like the contact one, with the understanding it is for people with contact info and places they would be available to go for the drops...

I think it's a great idea. I'd do drops, for sure.

Great idea Natas! I would be able to help in Florida. I think should be a stick of PM resoures or make it it's own category you can't reply to, just resources.

BTW.. I forgot to mention. As most people know. I disappear for weeks at a time due to my job, but don't worry. This is a project I will continue to work on even while I'm out earning a living.

So don't worry if you don't hear a lot from me in the coming weeks. I leave tomorrow and won't be back until next year. But my boat does have a computer. Not real reliable though.

I would be willing to hide things in the city. I may be moving in few months. If I do, I will be near the city and will try to help if I can.

I suggest that any PM who needs help contact me via the boards or email. That way nothing has to be posted on the forums that would reveal your secret plans.

You already know what I think about this idea lol Wink

But on a sidenote... As Natas told LuLu the ideas for how it's implimented would be ironed out after this brief period of feedback and whatnot. -- I don't want to say too much (mainly b/c I know very little about it, haha) - But don't presume that it'll all be uF based lol.

I think it's a great idea and would certainly help broaden the scope of dead drops.

One thing that has to be kept in mind is that a person placing a dead drop cannot be someone playing the game. I know that seems obvious, but it's tricky. If a PM wants a dead drop in Texas, they have a volunteer to call and drop it. Then when the players find out about the dead drop they will seek out someone who lives in Texas (if a current player does not). This is a small community so it may be that they happen to ask the person who dropped it! It may sound far-fetched, but it's happened before. Just something to think about so you know how to handle it if it happens.

I know I'm new on here but I would be more than happy to help out with dead drops in my area.

Count me in if you need anything dropped in So. California

I have access to:

Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Parts of San Bernardino, and Parts of Riverside Counties. (a very big area but most of it is within 1-2 hours driving distance)

I'm sitting where Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino meet up Smile

Well right now this isn't a callsheet for those people to offer their services (ALTHOUGH saying that, guys that are offering their services AWESOME!!)

This is more a feedback jobby for those people to give their thoughts on Natas' idea and by the looks of things we're getting good results.

So when he gets back hopefully this will go ahead Very Happy
