Whoo Hoo!!!

Mars replied to my comment on her wall in Facebook! Here's the back and forth:

Me:

Quote:
Wow, it's pretty cool of you to befriend a stranger! Do you like dancing Ms. Madison? If so, perhaps when I get to Milwaukee we can go out and try the Street Car Shuffle?

I've been dying to try it since seeing the MTC video, but alas, I have no dance pard'ner!

Interested?

Mars:

Quote:
hi robbie. i'm not really the dancing type, and i really don't get the street car shuffle -- it really looks even less fun than normal dancing. still, i'd love to hang out some time. let me know.

I'm writing her again, let's see if I can keep it going!

EDIT: My new response to Mars:

Quote:
Do you think I could give you a call sometime? Facebook feels so impersonal and I have some questions about freelancing and what not that I don't feel comfortable posting here...you know...in public.

Mars also just wrote on my wall:

Quote:

"ian, i'd love to hang out. know anywhere (that's not the canning district) to get a cup of coffee?"

my response:
Quote:

That'd be great! Theres a place near where I live, its by the lake, called Alterra and its at the bottom of Layfayette hill on Lincoln Memorial Drive, (at least thats what it used to be called, surely you know what I'm referring to) Let me know if you'd like to meet up!

i wonder if she'll want to meet irl Razz

Hi Mars =) I hope you're ok! Just getting to know you, but definitely concerned for your safety. Take care and keep us updated...

hi post. i'm pretty concerned about my safety too, it sure doesnt take long for me to make enemies, but with enough friends i'm certain i'll be safe.

Sounds to me like we're still trying to reach a certain friend threshold.

I got a reply from Mars as well.

Here's what I posted:
Quote:
Hey, I read your post on the Young Professionals of Milwaukee. I just moved to Milkwaukee a few days ago myself. I read something about Blackstar giving out jobs to polyskilled people, but now I don't know if I made the right call :/

I stayed in my flat this weekend (it's Class G), so I didn't see what was going on outside. Are you OK? If you need someone to talk to, my inbox is always open Smile

And she replied today:
Quote:
thanks for the message. what happened last weekend was just to me, so don't worry, no massive fragment invasion, lol. but its become readily apparently that i'm going to need a lot of protection if i'm going to stay here.

I just posted this:
Quote:
What kind of protection are you thinking about? I have my flare gun and rebreather, and like I said my flat is class G so I'm not too worried, but I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do to keep safe. I think I'm safe from the fragments, but I wonder about the creep.

We'll see what happens...

Got a reply as well:

Hey Mars, I know just how you feel. We're always moving for my husbands job. He's a chemist and he'll be out in Milwaukee next week to see about a job. Maybe he could stop by Blackstar and see if they have anything available. Anyway, if we end up moving there I'll have to start all over again and make new friends. So if you feel like chatting maybe we could help each other feel a little less lonely.

Mars Maddison wrote
hi melissa. you sound like you've got a story to tell. i'd love to chat with you some time -- send me a message. (ps -- i'd look into blackstar employment. at first, i was pretty wary of them, but i think i've misjudged things)

My exchange with Mars:

Me:
Quote:
Hurrah! If I make it to Milwaukee we can both learn the Streetcar Shuffle (if you don't already know it, that is).

Mars:
Quote:
if you end up moving here, avoid the street car shuffle. i'm not normally one for dancing, but that's got to be the worst dance ever invented.

I had a good laugh at that.

Probably obvious, but that sounds like it goes into the whole "Blackstar bodysnatches/infects/whatver they do during the night life".

Earlier I read something about Milwaukee pushing their Vermouth margaritas. Maybe it's like The Invasion where they infect through food/liquids?

EDIT: Something actually relevent occured to me. Shocker. Anyways, has anyone had any communication with Lipps, yet?

I requested to be Lipps' friend on facebook, but she hasn't accepted it yet. It's still listed as "request pending" or whatever. She hasn't posted anything on the young professionals group since she made it. I suspect we'll hear more since Mars has contacted her today.

Looks like Mars has been busy today; just got my own reply from her myself:
I wrote:
Wow, we have the same birthday! Same as John Lennon (tho' personally I look more like Vladimir Lenin! :^). Perhaps we can celebrate (very) belatedly together when I arrive. BTW, no pictures yet? You say you're shy, but are you camera shy too? ;^D

Mars wrote:
i'd be happy to do a joint birthday party with you when you move here. i'll put a picture up eventually if enough people ask, but i'm kind of trying to stay in the background of things, especially after some bad business this past weekend.

Hm,, no particular mention in her reply to being "camera shy" as I'd asked, so FWIW no confirmation for that idea I'd had re: the Camera/Shy steganographic Web browser.

Mars wrote on my wall:

thanks kelly. at first it was about getting friends just to meet people, but now i'm really concerned about getting friends just so i'm never alone (it took me about 20 minutes to run afoul of some stuff in milwaukee...try as i might to mind my own business!)

I wrote back:

Quote:
Aw, yeah. I know how you feel. I wish I had a group to walk with, that's why I was looking into moving soon myself. Hey, you're a machinst, I hear. I'm studying engineering. Are you into robotics?

Then I messaged her privately and asked her what she was trying to avoid.

thanks for the friend request. i'm happy to meet new people, and would love to have all the friends i can.... tell me a little about yourself, oceanna

well, I'm in the area formerly known as Canada right now, thinking about getting a hamBURger (they're my favorite!). I've been wondering if maybe I should relocate, but I'm a little nervous...

Quote:
oceanna,

sorry to take so long to write back, ive been just overwhelmed with the city recently. anyway, its wild that you're alive up in canada. i think i visited there once when i was very, very young, practically a baby, but i dont really remember if i did, or im just imagining it. as far as relocation goes, it was a little rough for me at first, but things have smoothed out (just accepted a job at blackstar, actually), so id highly recommend it.

keep in touch
-mm

Looks like she's working for Blackstar now. I've been a little out of the loop for this ARG lately (college prep), so sorry if everyone already knew that.

blackstar communications

Description:
it'll pay a heck of a lot more than instrument repair, plus, well, safety in numbers

And she put up a new status:

Quote:
Mars starts at blackstar on monday...horray for corporate work...

I wonder if there's any meaning behind this. Yet another example of people not remembering their childhood/past, false memories maybe?
