Hey everyone..

I've been trying to get more information from the last member of the psychosis trio who recently sent us all an email. I had asked if the http://sovnet-1502.t83.net/ site was the one he wanted us to monitor and if he knew Natasha...here was his response.

yes, i sent left a book for her when i was in Austria. I will try to fly to Germany this week if i am ever able to drop the package, i just dont know if there is someone in the area to pick it up.

Anyone in Germany who may be able to pick up a package?

So I am from Germany. If help is still needed! I am even near the Austrian border.

Just had a crackpot idea... Anything related to 'Bumblebee' or 'Ventures' in Bryan? Google doesn't show anything, really, but... MrT?

All of this because the aztec has me stymied. *sigh*

I'm not sure about those names, but there is a lot of cool old stuff in downtown Bryan. Didn't someone say that a map earlier pointed to the intersection of Hwy 21 and Hwy 6? There's not much of anything at that point, mostly just gas stations and a McDonalds.

I didn't see the map, but if it was Business 6 and not Bypass 6, then we are talking about a more interesting bunch of businesses/landmarks since it would be near a grocery store and some other stuff.

I'm stumped too. I hope it ends up being at the university since I know just about every knook and cranny of it.

I found the map on a previous page and it definitely means bypass 6 based on the little loop type line that is drawn.

The star on the map is north of the intersection, but I don't think we can count on it as being 'to scale'. I'll have time to drive up that way and check out the locations north of the intersection this afternoon.

It is final exam week so if any of te PMs are at Texas A&M, they are probably swamped until tomorrow and won't be leaving town (to Germany?) until after the exams are completed.

I guess I should just wait on pics like the Houston and Miami drops?

Most likely they won't be heading to Germany, they'll aks a local PM to do it. I mean, if you're going on vacation you wouldn't leave a game running, would you? And if you're going home from studying/working abroad for quite some time, I think you'd rather spend time with family and friends than running around town placing clues and updating your websites.

Of course that is more logical. I only speak about it this way because a local PM that I've dealt with in the past is from Germany and is an international student here at TAMU.

A friend of mine had an interesting idea that i haven't thought of:

Quote:
Has anyone thought that the individual pieces would need to be flipped/rotated in some combination before putting them together, you can get multiple different images that way

What do you guys think of that?

That's a good idea. I had thought that maybe they were already in the right positions and they needed to be flipped accordingly in order to form the square in the middle, but remaining in the positions they came, but ended up not trying. Tomorrow morning I'll try several combinations.

EDIT: Well, here's the thing...they can't be arranged differently. The two on the top (in the original file, the one we got through e-mail) are wider than the bottom two by just a couple of pixels. That means they HAVE to be on top of one another. Meanwhile, the one on the top right, if you look closely, has some pixels that belong to the bottom right one (check the center square). Therefore, there's only one way to arrange them. At least, that's my conclusion...

Okay, I just sent this to the bctester people. Normally I wouldn't do this, but it might help us figure out where our problem really is. We'll see what happens. Is it possible that someone in Germany could sort of duplicate the effort, mentioning my email, but translating, just to be courteous? Please?

Quote:
Folks,

I know this may sound a bit strange, but I am playing an Alternate
Reality Game that is using an aztec barcode to deliver information.
While I have used bctester in the past to good effect, this one has it
stumped. The original message we received had the barcode split apart
into four segments. This is attached as 'code.png' We put that
together and ran it through the program but bctester didn't know what
to do with it. The re-formatted barcode is attached as code2. After
messing around for a while someone did a vertical flip on the image
and at least got bctester to recognize the image as an aztec, but it
couldn't read it. This is attached as 'code3.'

At this point we're stumped and have been for four days. Just to rule
out that the problem isn't with bctester, I'd appreciate it if you
could have a look at this.

Info on the game, and this aspect of it can be found at:

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=583957#583957

Thank you for your time, and any help at all would be appreciated.

Well either they're stumped or they're blowing us off. Bets? 6-5 and pick 'em.

I'm leaning towards blowing us off.

I tried several combinations of rotating or flipping the four original pieces of the code. bcTester recognized it as Aztec a few times, but the value was always 0 or 70 or something like that.

Meanwhile...

What's up with the ARG? I tried to have a conversation with Natasha the other day, but she kept getting booted offline so I didn't find out anything..

Are we stopped until we decode this barcode?
