I'm showing up at the Barnstable, MA spot. Yea, I know there's three others going too, but what the hey, I may as well. I'll be bringing my WiFi enabled laptop, and a digital camera.

One quick question, though: the time is listed as 6:19 PDT, and 6:51 PDT. What is that in EST? I can't decide if I'm showing up at 8 AM, or 9 AM.

to go from PDT to EDT, add 3 hours.

So for you, it would be 9:19 and 9:51 EDT.

Alright, sounds good. However, I've heard that the speculation is that you have to show up at 6 AM, due to the fact that the timer changes based upon your clock. To confirm this, I just checked the site; 12 hours, 35 minutes. Looks like 6 AM. No shower beforehand, then. Confused

Also, how does one get Mapquest directions using the coordinates? I want to go check them out tonight.

Actually, www.randmcnally.com lets you get directions from an address to a long/lat coordinate.

I don't understand what you mean... if you're in the Eastern time zone, your clock should be running down at approx. 9AM. It's going to run out for me at 6AM, because I'm on Pacific time. The timer here says "15hrs 9min" and it's almost 3PM PDT... which means it will run out at 6AM my time.

Do you perhaps have your computer clock set wrong? Smile

greetings all, I'll be @ the 9:32 am santa monica ca location with various others [chulo333, waterboy100, fubarz] and it looks like it's exactly at a coffee bean & tea leaf:

Ann Arbor

OK, me and Lemures have been talking about the Ann Arbor coordinate over AIM, and we've come to the following conclusions of what we think a good plan should be:

Hmmm. The map here seems to indicate a location maybe a mile north of the stadium. If the map is correct, the location is in front of (in?) the Starbucks and the Subway near the corner of Main and Liberty. IIRC, there's a payphone at that location. I plan to be there, 11am EDT (local time). Now, I'm not sure how much to trust the map from randmcnally.com: they completely messed up the location of The Ark. The Ark is right next door to the "X" marking the location of the GPS coörd.

The old netninja table of locations listed 321 S. Main St, which is across the street and a bit south (see attached pic). Barclay Consulting, Inc. looks interesting: they are some sort of "internet consultants". I was there earlier today and indulged in a bit of war-sitting Smile. There's an open access point, but I had trouble connecting with my Powerbook. The name is "conor_upstairs", obviously belonging to Conor O'Neill's pub. No others that I could detect from the east side of the street. Starbucks has a tmobile (for pay) hotspot. Espresso Royale has a free open hotspot, but it's maybe 50 yards north of the location indicated on the map. Anyone interested in the Ann Arbor site have a better, more trustworthy map? Regardless, it should only take 3 people to cover the 3 points.

As for parking, it's hard to find any free parking in the downtown area at that time of day. Your best bet is the parking structure on Washington: go north on Main St., one block past Liberty, make a right onto Washington. The structure will be on your left (north side of Washington). If you have lunch at one of the non-cheapo places in the area, you can get your parking validated.

BTW, what is "Halo"? Razz

I'll be heading to a few of the Utah locations, though I'm not sure which ones just yet. Bluemeanie has quite a few of them staked out already, but I might head out to a few of the ones he's visiting as well, just in case. I'll also be hitting the Utah coordinate that's on Sunnyside Ave. It's right out in front of Hogle Zoo.

And just in case bluemeanie reads this post, I've driven to every location you have covered, and the one I mentioned, and there is a payphone at each location, almost right on top of where my GPS points to.

The odd thing is, the Hogle Zoo coordinate is listed twice, but at different times. Once in the early afternoon, and the second at around six o'clock or so.

waveline... can you be a bit more specific? (Not to mention, we can use you best where bluemeanie is NOT able to go tomorrow...) But keep us updated. (Best way to say "I'll be here" is by claiming a TIME, so that way it's universal and without knowing which locations are on Sunnyside street we can put you on the list...)

Ok, well here's my last Phil until Axon Day... I'll be watching tomorrow as the axons go hot, and I'll be hitting the Bensenville location with buzzkill and any lurkers in the ChiSubs... But that's not until 4:56pm here (CDT), so we'll see whats-a-happenin until then... Let's keep signing up, since Aveena has graciously (Worshippy) volunteered to maintain Phil as long as she can today... SO NO MORE PM'S TO ME ABOUT AXON DAY unless you don't mind me NOT signing you up... (I'm not trying to be mean, but I just want to make certain y'all know WHY you're not on the "official" list come tomorrow morning!) So I'll see you all on the flipside of this thing! Until then...

Sorry about that, didn't have all my data with me (spreadsheets galore). If at all possible, I'm going to try and make the Utah locations at 10:23 PDT, 14:26 PDT, 15:55 PDT and 17:43 PDT. As well, I might be able to make the 9:17 PDT but that depends on when I need to show up at work.

And like I said, the 15:55 PDT and 10:23 PDT are in exactly the same spot, out in front of the North Entrance to Hogle Zoo, just at two seperate times. I thought that was kind of odd.

As far as Ann Arbor goes, it sounds like we're going to have it pretty well covered. My guess is the phone outside of Connor O'Neils (it's actually right in the middle of the patio seating. There is also a phone in front of the um....Prickly Pear (I think that's the name of the place.) I was just down there and I didn't spot any other phones. My friend and I will be getting on scene about 10:30 local time.

How many of us does that make now, about 6? More?
