[INTERACTION] BS_JOBS_ACT11.pdf
PDF describing jobs available at Blackstar sent by email from Michael Lewis on 12/11

Figured I'd start another thread for this..

Just got a pdf from the MTC on behalf of Blackstar listing jobs available..

here's the pdf: http://t-i-m-m.s3.amazonaws.com/BS_JOBS_ACT11.pdf

Here's the email text:

Quote:

Hi friends,

We're happy to cooperate with our friends at Blackstar to send out the attached job listing -- it's overflowing with opportunities for you to earn some serious Dark Dollars, all while having some serious fun!

Cheers,

Michael Lewis

I love this in the description of the Office Manager:
Quote:
Heavy phone work. Polite manner, stern voice essential. Shovel provided.

So they are expected to do a lot of "shovelling" on the phone Smile?

I notice that the Junior Re-Seeders get a weekly spa stipend. Maybe I'm just not as much of a spa girl as others, but a weekly spa visit seems unusual. My feeling is that the work must be physically demanding. I wonder why the Junior Re-seeder position is "Ladies only, please!"?

"Senior Power Lifter, Accounts Receivable"...why is a Power Lifter part of Accounting, and why is Accounting part of the Sport division?

Quote:
Due to budgetary constraints,
this year's try-outs have been greatly simplified: just mail a picture of yourself holding a basketball to info@ThisIsMyMilwaukee.
com. The winning entrant will not only secure her spot on the team, but also have her picture sent to our hated rivals, the Milwaukee FeBrizzio's Hoopers--so try to look tough and mean, like you're ready for a fight, or a big dinner! Only Hoopsters eighteen and older may apply. See you "on the court!"

Do it!

Quote:
Due to budgetary concerns, this year's try-outs will be conducted with a standardized test. Dual applications to the Hoopsters and the Ice Dogs are discouraged,
but permitted. See you "on the court!"

No mention of how to get the standardized test...maybe by e-mailing Lewis? I wonder why dual applications are discouraged? Because of the MTC and Febrizzio's connections that the hockey team has vs the Blackstar connections the basketball team has? Also, "See you 'on the court!'"...doesn't make sense for a hockey team Razz.

Alright, who's applying for what jobs Smile?

Edit: I just noticed that the basketball team must be for females, as it says the entrants are looking to secure "her" spot on the team...

Edit 2: Also, the "See you on the court" message is given both with the basketball posting (which makes sense) and the hockey posting (which does not make sense).

Should this be a part of the Lewis thread, or standalone? We might end up having a lot of non-Lewis discussion regarding the job posting, even if he is going to be our main source of contact for this. Hmmm....I don't know, heh.

Either way, all I have to say at the moment is that that's one heck of a hockey team name. I want to join the Milwaukee Milwaukee Tourism Commission Blackstar Ice Dogs Brought To You By FeBrizzio's!

It sounds like a lot of departments are merged together, hence the Power Lifting in Accounting.

Spas are mentioned on page 16 of the Reasonable Haven packet. It mentions "purification" and "cleansing" after traveling to Milwaukee, and some people have speculated that the cleansing has to do with radioactivity in the desert areas. If that's the case, maybe the Junior Re-Seeders are exposed to a lot of radiation and therefore need a weekly purification. Or maybe you just get dirty planting those family trees.

Does the "Milwaukee Milwaukee" thing mean the same thing as NY,NY?

And yeah, I think with all their memories messed up, they also lost the ability to organize a company or team along recognizable lines.

I wish this ARG wasn't happening the week(end) of finals for me. I might try to write a mock-up resume and apply for the Junior Re-Seeder position tomorrow though, final paper permitting!

I think that's meant to be read [Milwaukee] [Milwaukee Tourism Commission] [Blackstar Ice Dogs] [Brought To You By FeBrizzio's] if that makes sense. So it's a team that's supported by all three organizations (MTC, Blackstar, and FeBrizzio's) and is based in Milwaukee.

Oh this is great. If I can get ahold of a basketball, I will definitely take a picture and send it in. We probably need to get quite a few people to apply to each of the positions.

Edit: Oh yeah, and these positions presumably earn DD, meaning we may actually get some to play with!

Look at the dates

Notice that the current date is mentioned.

Spring, ACT 10, December 11.

So we know that the in-game year is ACT 10, and that for some reason it is Spring in December, like if the poles had swapped.

Also, I've had a theory for a long time that "Family Tree" is meant in the literal sense most of the time and that people need to "keep them underground" by not mentioning who their ancestors are. Since they are rebuilding, they may be repopulating, and mentioning your family tree could make it hard to find a potential mate. Also, this would explain why Junior Re-Seeders are female only.

Ok, I know I said it before, but Cool Dog soooo looks like the chateau when depicted as in the communication...

(Oh and don't I know it about finals week! Juggling that and this and the FT job....!!)

That's got to be it, or at least something similar. Good catch!

It makes sense. Magnetic Collapse is sometimes referred to as M-Collapse. Superspin could be referring to the earths spin axis. Rotor coils may be referring to Tesla Coils. Russo said that M-Rotors were sometimes natural. Perhaps he's talking about natural nuclear fission reactors? And we're due for a pole shift anytime in the next couple thousand years.

So, if we tapped into the earths crust to try to get at the geothermal and somehow fubared it, causing earths core to cool or causing a shift in the molten iron beneath the crust which caused the magnetic field to collapse then, according to popular fictions and some but not all scientist, we'd have a period of absolute chaos (ie extreme solar radiation, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, massive storms, worldwide power outages, satellite communications down, animals going berserk etc) before the magnetic poles switched and things settled down.

Or it could be the other way. We could have tried to tap into the suns power somehow causing huge solar storms to bombard earth with solar radiation.

This fits pretty well with most of our (the forums) theories regarding radiation/magnetism.

Just to be a bit of a nag, swapping the poles (magnetic) wouldn't do anything to the seasons. The tilt of the Earth's axis of rotation would have to be altered. I guess a large enough magnetic interaction (of a particular sort) between the Sun and Earth could do it. I don't know what field strength it would take. My off-hand guess would be something past the point of making biological stuff dead. But anyway.

Besides, haven't we heard other directions that matched with normal... like rebels at the north gate because of easy rail access to Duluth.
