Remember NOT to think too much outside the box, because scholastic created this.

I dunno. Perhaps there is some setting that I have on my computer that I have configured? While composing, the typos show up with a red underline. When I right click on them, it provides suggested spelling. I take it yours doesn't do that?

If katsmom is using Internet Explorer, it doesn't do that auto spell checking. I've only ever seen it on Firefox and Macs.

It could be a curse because the card says to use it to spy on "other cahills" which could mean that the more codes we put in, the more people that could be spying on us.

On the other hand, it could be a gift. We may be able to use these codes to spy on any other cahill of our choice and sort of hack into their account.

I don't think that adding these codes will be detrimental to us in any way for two reasons:
1: I don't think that scholastic wants to have to remember where the original codes came from (whose user got the card first) Rolling Eyes
2: Why would you want to spy on these people anyways????? what good would it do you??? it seems to me that all you could do would be to watch them do missions, or now that i think about it, the only thing you could really do would be to steal cards from them Very Happy . i still don't think that's likely.

The "spying" could just be access to the family branch archives of those you've passed your bug to. And it wouldn't be hard to track where the original card code came from as this is all being handled by computers. Plus, if they didn't want to waste storage space with where the card came from, they can just look up who has card #2 in their "My Cards" collection under that same code since only the original code owner would get cards 2-6 from it.

 To Anyone Interested and katsmom
Cluefinder pages and I found another surveillance camera code

Mad I was stuck on wikibruce trying to get the pages on, even had my guru daughter on the job. If she didn't get them on the page, I never will!!! Embarassed
LOL I did get them set up on photobucket! Very Happy
You can check it out here: http://s277.photobucket.com/albums/kk78/sheadeel/39%20Clues/ Click on the picture then go to the top left corner and you can make it bigger.
Arrow I noticed the annotations on the obit were the words that gave us a code from Mission 0.

Idea I could really zoom in and get a clear picture on photobucket...I think this would be the way to see the cards that do not have the print option! Very Happy Razz Very Happy

Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation I also found another code online last night Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

What does 10 mean?

I found something very weird on my cards. There, said on The Bookworm was 10 (number of that card). But when I put my mouse on it, it said 101. I actually have 101 of those cards.

Unusual, they have no page numbers... Does any one know which pages these are in between?

 Thinking inside the box... NOT
The last thing the authors and Scholastic want is for kids to have a closed mind

Hunter6 wrote:
Why do we post surveillance camera codes? It's useless if you already have one. P.S. katsmom is now decorated.
Because it could make a difference at some point. Question While 39C doesn't give the appearance of being very ARG-ish, at some point it could morph to that. At the very least, I think that they have built layers into the hunt so that there is something to challenge the older kids while keeping the basics simple enough for the young kids.

That's fine if that's what you want to do. You will probably make a good accountant someday. Wink I prefer to think outside the box and that has kept it interesting. It has led me down many paths and I have learned interesting things with my approach. If you look for deeper meaning, you will find it. If you chose to simply play the games and collect the cards, that's OK, too. In any case, I will continue look for conspiracies, solve puzzles, research interesting tidbits, and revise my theories. Very Happy

I think I must have missed something -- is the Grace obit scanned from the booklet that comes with the card packs? I don't think I had seen the annotated obit before. I didn't remember anything about annotations giving a code from Mission 0, so I went to check out what you put up and I also went to look at to Mission 0. I assume you are referring to Message 1 of Mission 0? I didn't see much of a relationship between the code and the annotations on the obit, but I did notice that they are different. The online version is missing the sentence that starts, "Even at a young age", and several things are re-worded. Sort of strange if you ask me. I wonder if we should look at it more closely. Could there be a secret message in what words have changed?

BTW, while there, I noticed something else... The title of the webpage at http://codebreakers.the39clues.com/minigame/gcobituary/ is "Grace Hill Obituary" instead of "Grace Cahill Obituary". It's probably just a typo, but I sent an email to the help team, anyway. I don't expect anything enlightening back from them. If I get one of those "you need to ask fiends and parents for help", I will be intrigued.

I am having difficulty identifying what you are referring to. If you leave some of the previous poster's quote, it might give it some context. Are you talking about no page numbers on the pages scanned from the Cluefinder Guide?

Are you referring to card #416 (The Bookworm)? I only entered one of those cards, so mine just has a "1" in the upper left hand corner when I cursor over it (before cursoring over it, the red ribbon reads "01". Perhaps you found a bug in the code that displays the number of cards -- if they only coded it to display 2 digits and you have over 100 cards entered, it might show up as "10" instead of "101". Anyone want to enter that card 100 times to test my theory? Laughing
EDIT: How pathetic... I just entered that card another 99 times to see that it went from 99 to 10. So, there does appear to be a very minor error in their program. It seems to handle card counts larger than 100 -- just doesn't display them correctly in the one situation (in the overview on the red ribbon or whatever you call it).

That must be it. I use FireFox. I just did a test with IE and it has no red underlines when I typo like FireFox does. Just another reason to not use IE! Laughing

Re: Card groupings
I am probably reading waaaay to much into this...

bando2 wrote:
I haven't read number two. ... when I grouped the cards I have by branch I noticed something interesting about the Cahill branch. Grace seemed to be teaching her daughter the skills she would need to clue hunt at an early age and also about all the branches not just one.
I don't want to ruin it for you, but book 2 does allude to the fact that Grace was teaching Dan and Amy stuff they would need for the hunt.

bando2 wrote:
on card 68 grace's hide away I can't be the only one to notice the lines under the words in the secret document. Is it a code? The letter is odd enough that I think it should be.
Let's see what we have there: delighted, hidden, boulder, remote, communicate. I think it reads as if she was simply emphasizing the words. Unless there is a way to make "delighted" into someone's name, I don't see anything. What were the names of the Tomas agents investigating Grace on Madagascar? I recall one of them was a Holt. I don't have ready access to the Tomas archives being a Janus and all, but I see "Tomas Archives - Intelligence report on Grace Cahill" has to do with Madagascar.

Good observation, I had not noticed. The Clue Finder Guide (C.F.G.) I got in my newest card pack (mentioned on p 84 or 85 of this thread) has no page numbers. These would be pages 10-15 in the guide.

aliceinwunderland wrote:

Yes the obit in my link came from my new C.F.G. p14 in the card pack I bought last Saturday.

DunnoI did not look real close at the wording in the two, but did notice that when you are collecting the letters for the clue on Mission 0 Message 3 the "strong will" and "donated chemistry lab" were both used to find the letters in the clue and now have annotations in the C.F.G. I am not sure what exactly the connection is?Dunno
Shocked Silly I think I will check out the wording between the two closer. P.S. My firefox tab shows Hill for her last name. I will be interested to hear what the help team says.

Arrow I also find this statement from Mission 0 Message 1 Grace's Will interesting http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk78/sheadeel/39%20Clues/gracecahillcodicil2.jpg
Confused:Anybody have an idea:?: Maybe that the family will win if they work together? Can't they all just get along? Mr. Green
Arrow Is it just me or on card #8 Ophir Dhupam there is 1 girl in a light green outfit, no belly showing, that looks like she is in the picture 3 times Screwy

Was the package labeled any differently? The card packs I bought were labeled as being for books 1-3. I had not even noticed that the CFG came with the card packs until someone here mentioned it. I never really read it until just now. I had almost forgotten that they there is supposed to be a method to combine cards. Perhaps they will put that on the site as a Christmas present to us. Very Happy

I truly think that after they have us collecting all the clues and learning all this cool stuff, the "lost secret to the Cahill power" will turn out to be something like be working together. I started to get that idea a while back when I was looking at card #61, which says that the painting is the secret power of the Cahills. I hold out hope that it will something less preachy than that, but alas, this is for kids.

I both on-lineand at my card. My over-40 eyes can see enough detail say for certain, but I didn't think that the girls looked that much alike.

BTW, I just had to mention that I find the the subject of this post a little humorous. "katsmom, you won't be interested in this, but please read anyway" Laughing

The only cards that are shareable are the surveillance card and some promo cards. Make sure that you enter the code you get from the book yourself before you share your surveillance card code, though. Otherwise, you won't get cards 2-6. For a list of the promo cards and shared surveillance cards, go to http://various.wikibruce.com/39Clues#Surveillance_camera_codes
