Yikes, I just saw this one:

39.911569 -89.215736 7:27 6.8 km north of Illiopolis (b/t Springfield & Decatur) Illinois

If this coord is right and this acme is be believed:

http://mapper.acme.com/?lat=39.911569&long=-89.215736&scale=10

I doubt a phone booth is in that guy's harvest ...

And I don't recommend anyone geocaching into someone's corn field Smile

Turns out Phil has this coord wrong ... wishi-san has it right:

07:27 PDT - -086.215736,39.911569 | Indianapolis, Indiana, United States

I just hope the PMs didn't just throw in a couple locations just for the random effect. That would be the suck.

* vpisteve casts a glare in the PMs direction, as he woefully considers driving 6 hours roundtrip tomorrow to a spot in the middle of the Arizona desert.

Thus adding to my theory.. that we need to make a call from the phone... It is our call as they say.

But then why would that be location specific? And what call would you make? (sorries if I'm trouting)

Verification from the pay phone's caller id... I'm guessing the VM number

I'm pretty sure that this was posted before but it seems that it bears repeating. No New York City payphones accept incoming calls. This would make the six locations in NYC useless in a phone scenario.

Interesting blog on NYC Pay Phones

Pay phones have caller id/VMs?

The VM number for Dana... and they can tell it's the pay phone from the caller id for verification.

If a payphone rings on your end when you call it, does that mean that it accepts incoming calls? I just tried the one in Atlanta, and it rang four times.

Thanks for checking jegger... I'll find the phone first thing in the morning.

Do you suppose the message being sent will direct listeners to another website that's been infected like ilovebees.com in order to continue the mystery?

Report from the Anaheim CA location:

4 payphones in the area, only one will fit the billl.

Adress: 1650 Harbor, the Ramada Inn/Maingate complex. This is right across the street from Disney's California Adventure, next to Disneyland. This is directly across from the back of the Hyperion Theatre, and in a straight line axis on the new Tower of Terror ride.

The payphone is located on the south side of the small California T-shirts shop. The number is 563-0327. I verified that it DOES take phone calls, and appears to be the targeted payphone for this clue.

Abou 20 feet east between the Golden Pand and the Pizza place is another cellphone, at 778-9083. This one does NOT take incoming phone calls. It makes clicking noises when called.

A third one is located some 300 feet back, behind the Ramada Inn first buuilding. It is 563-0914. While it rings, the handset is silent, so its non operationsal.

The next one is a little further north at the back of the Best Western at 774-0430. I did not test this oen because it was close to the monorail line, and too far away according to the Acme setup.

I would put my bets on the California Tshirts phone. It works, the handset works and it is right on target.

whoever else is going to be there tomorrow, please private message me. I hope to be there at least 15 minutes to 1/2 hour before the time.
If you are there before, look for an older guy wearing a Pacman tshirt Smile

whoever has the tape recorder does the read on it, since mine is put away for now. But you gotta play it back for all assembled Smile

Al,so, the California T-Shirts buildingi s maybe 15-20 feet from the curb so you can see it from tthe northbound traffic lanes. Parking, good luck! Busy! Next to Disneyland!

DontPokeTheFro,

Don't be discouraged. It appears (by all accounts) that this is just the beginning of the real game. We'll see after people start reporting in. However, that won't be until at the very least, 19 minutes from now. We'll see...

check out this thread and the "Phil", a list to see who's going where and when you can expect updates (assuming people will call the ARGN hotline or report in directly).

Whew.. that's a lotta tiny URL'in... Wink

IMPORTANT!!!! Web site that produces EXACT phone GPS info

Ok, so I posted this elsewhere, but thought this would also be a good place to post this...

I have located a web page which generates the exact GPS coods from the phone location addresses. I've checked it on the 3 locations where we found the phones. All of these phones were listed on the http://payphone-directory.org pages.

We were unable to locate a phone in the 4th GPS site given. Entering in phone addresses along the same street from payphone-directory.org I was able to find an exact match. This phone is located about 1 mile away from where other sites say the GPS coods should be.

The GPS cood site is:
http://www.geocode.com/modules.php?name=TestDrive_Eagle

Good luck to everyone who had problems. This help solve all of the location issues.

Also, for those people in Boulder... 16:35 should be located at the Quizno's in the Table Mesa Shopping Center.
