What's this business about there being some magic number of friends for Mars to open up? She's posted on my Facebook already, and I know I'm not alone.

She's alluded to knowing more information about Blackstar, but not having enough friends to feel comfortable opening up. The idea of a 'magic number' comes from that--300 specifically is just speculation.

He typoed again (?): "calvary" instead of "cavalry". But I suppose since there hasn't been much of a Judeo-Christian flavour yet.

I get the feeling this has something to do with p. 26, maybe the "D" is for "Duke" or "Diner", sitting against the wall, but I'm having trouble getting a peacock feather or a plant out of anything adjacent.

Edit: Peacock feathers have an "eye", the box immediately up from the "D" is an "I". I dunno. Just beyond the "I" is "T". Tea, plant. I dunno. Just beyond that, 84 which might be indicated by the fax overlaid on the table.

The '!' could be a peacock feather.

Well if anyone is in the Brooklyn area, and wants to pop in for a look, here's the website for the Greenhouse Cafe.

Given the 'clues' in the tweets, I'd suggest going straight through the cafe in the front and getting a seat in the enclosed sunroom/'greenhouse' area. Look for a peacock feather, and a bench/chair across from it. Look underneath that for something 'little, a trifle'.

Re: Full transcript

It was organized by a group of investors from all five cities who call themselves Big Vision. I'd never met any of them before.

Big Vision = CBS ?

"I can only offer you this fine Cajun cooking as clarification, and hope that each of you finds her own way. Enjoy the meal, friends."

Cajun food seems important. Maybe we're looking for a cafe that serves Cajun food or has a French name. Then again, he says the menu is unimportant so maybe not.

We supped on the crawfish delicacy. Voltaire's culinary prowess matched both his prowess for political satire and for elemental magics.

Elemental magics could mean literal magic, or it could mean stage magic or it could be scientific in nature, ie alchemy or chemistry.

"I'm alive! I'm alive! Oh god, unbury me! Lift me up! I'm here, down here!" Alisanda was screaming out, reliving a memory of the Troubles?

What is this referring to? Were people during the trouble mistakenly buried alive or perhaps caught under the rubble of a damaged building? Maybe people moved underground because of the radiation or were put into stasis pods until the earth was habitable again and a malfunction in the stasis pods caused the loss of memory?

I was in a city that was all gold and iron. The people there kissed and ran naked in the street, paying nudeness no mind.

My guess would be New York City although San Fransisco and New Orleans also come to mind. Naked Cowboy in Times Square? Nude statues in various locations?

I wore a uniform, something from dormant days, a great helmet and guarding, heavy and powerful, what I would call a yellow and crimson.

Colors worn by Air Defense Artillery and Field Artillery, Ordnance Corps and Transportation Corps. Other red and yellow outfits: NYFD firefighters suit is yellow with a red helmet, Beefeaters (maybe at the British Embassy?), Hazmat suits (red boots and yellow suit) and Nassau County mounted police (the patch they where is a red and yellow lion).

The sun hung low in the sky, constantly setting, my innermost thoughts obsessed with using it as a map to chart my way in this strange land.

So the directions east and west will be important.

I looked up to try to find a street sign, and there was a living mural in its place, a small calvary of nine horsemen, all headless

Sounds like a moving billboard or a big screen so most likely Times Square or other large heavily populated area with a lot of advertising. Nine headless horsemen? No idea. Maybe an ad for Anhouser Busch, horse racing or Polo?

So frightened was I by the moving sign that I ran into the nearest building, a cafe of sorts

I knelt and gave silent Gratitude for this cafe to cool dog, wise and cool, then stood and looked around.

A woman appeared before me, young, black skinned, beautiful. I asked for a table, and she showed me three options:

Mars. Duh.

The first was the cafe proper. I looked over the tables, and the people eating there seemed dry, stiff, stale. They chewed on sand and rocks

"No, I would not like a table here," I told her, and she smiled and nodded. She led me to another part, a garden.

This garden pulsed and bulged upward, and I knew that there was something terrible beneath the earth. I said "No, miss. Not in the garden."

And she smiled again, and walked me to the last option, a green house in the back.

It was quiet and alive in a simple sense, and a balance of creation and destruction that I knew to be safe, natural, pleasing.

Hmmm, there are a lot of GreenHouse or Green House restaurants all over New York including:
1. Union Square Cafe in Union Sqaure and it looks like a little green house.
2. Greenmarket (actually a farmers market, not a cafe, in Union Square)
3. Greenhouse Cafe in Brooklyn.
4. Green House Asian restaurant on Murray Hill (E 29th St)
5. Green Cafe 21 W 58th St New York, NY.
6. Green Cafe 115 W 57th St, New York, NY

And a B.B. King Blues Club & Grill which serves Cajun food (slow jazz reference?). The bit about creation and destruction makes me think that there is construction going on nearby and indeed several of the cafes above had construction nearby according to Google maps.

"Yes, I will dine here, in this green house" I told her. "Will you eat with me, please?"

"Yes, but I am shy, so pardon me if I am not talkative," she replied.

"How can such a pretty girl be shy?" I asked her. "The world is open to you, why do you hide from it?"

She blushed and smiled again. "You have done a great thing, to make me feel as a friend. I have felt in a dark forest without friends."

"Because you have offered me your kindness, I will repay you with a secret," she continued.

"Do you see these tables?" She waved her palm across the green house at the three large tables there. "They are not all the same."

Agreed, the tables likely refer to the three tables in the handbook although it's actually two tables and a graph.

"Come," and she took me by the arm and led me to the first table on the left as we entered the green house.

A giant sign hung over us as we sat, asking us a threatening question that I could not understand.

Another billboard or sign that says something like 'Do you know where your kids are?' or something? Who knows?

I looked at the menu, and saw a great many unusual foods. "These are just distractions," the girl said. "Where you sit is the secret."

There was a peacock feather and a plant across from where I sat, from my bench against the wall. I asked the girl her name.

Peacock feather = NBC? Maybe the place we're looking for is in Rockefeller Center?

"I have many names, but they are not important now. What is important is what you will leave behind. You are an agent of change."

"But what will I leave behind?" I asked her. "I grow old. My legacy will be buildings and lands. I am not a hero."

She looked directly into my eyes. "You leave something behind here, in this secret place, that goes beyond what you know and understand."

"I only hope that it is found quickly, covertly. The owners here, the ones who control this cafe, they are women and men with dark hearts."

"And they must not know of what you leave, so important the artifact."

She leaned over and kissed me gently on the cheek. "You are tired, Duke Chuck, and so now I plant the seed."

"Somewhere quiet, somewhere under. A little, a little. A trifle. Whoever finds it will spread it, and it will grow."

A trifle can mean something small and insignificant but it can also mean a dessert: A trifle is a dessert dish made from thick (or often solidified) custard, fruit, sponge cake, fruit juice or, more recently, jelly (gelatin), and whipped cream. Maybe look at the dessert menu or dessert cart?

"This table, this seat, under. Reunion."

And darkness was calm on the face of the bay.

Anyway, that's about when I woke up in a gutter a few blocks from my hotel, covered in puked-up crawfish. Voltaire can be a real dick.

Think I'm gonna go eat some vegetables. Tomorrow is Ham-burger day, and the closing of the festival.

Seems like we are looking for a small cafe near the water and near a garden or park, possibly green in color or in a building that resembles a greenhouse. It may be East or West facing. Cajun food may or may not be on the menu and it is likely in a place close to large billboards or screens. The staff may be wearing uniforms with dark hearts on them. Whatever we're supposed to find (info most likely rather than something physical) should be under the seat/bench.

Does this sound familiar to any of you New Yorkers?

Milwaukee and New York.

I know that the video was shot in New York. My original theory was that Milwaukee was such a hole that they shot the video in New York to make it more presentable.

Then there's the fact that the map of active cities clearly depicts cities in the Midwest and not New York. Note the presence of the Great Lakes. http://www.flickr.com/photos/32903188@N05/3077625018/in/set-72157610578386669/

Not to mention the fact that the map on the background of www.thisismymilwaukee.com is almost a perfect representation of the actual Milwaukee.

And all the operating phone numbers are Milwaukee numbers.

Now I'm willing to believe that the PMs are probably in New York OOG, and I know that the first drop was in New York. But I think assuming that everything is going to point to a New York location might be jumping the gun.
Earlier today there was a post on Bruce's Wiki from someone trying to tie every location mentioned to a specific part of New York, claiming that New York is the new Milwaukee in the game. While that's a valid theory in speculation, it's not the kind of thing we have enough evidence to accept as canon at this point.

All well and good to keep in mind, but as of right now, NYC is our best lead for locations of dead drops. Until we have any reason to assume that any other cities are accessible by the PMs, I think we should treat NYC as the assumed "Milwaukee" as far as pickups matter.

After combing through the tweets for more clues, and then reading BlessedBlogger's analysis, I'm thinking I may have jumped the gun on exactly WHICH Green House restaurant to search. There is a lot of other info given to use as a guide map. The owners having 'black hearts'... the giant sign, the moving billboard... it all seems to lead to somewhere. So I guess we need to narrow down which Green House they're talking about.

The only Greenhouse Cafe around Milwaukee is The Greenhouse Cafe in Whitewater, WI, which is west of Milwaukee.

It doesn't really fit the description either. The place Chuck describes has a cafe, garden seating, and then a greenhouse area.

If we go back to NY, there's one on 29th St., but that seems to be a Chinese restaurant, not a cafe, and the one in Brooklyn.

OK...

So the sun constantly sets in the west... we might be looking for a west coast city. San Francisco is a city of 'iron and gold'. And the SF 49ers wear crimson and gold uniforms and helmets. People there are likely to kiss in the streets and pay nudeness no mind.

So... now the other clues...

My thoughts were that this sounds like the thoughts of a sentient family tree or of the buried Go.D.S.E.E.D. I thought of the idea that people's consciousnesses could be trapped in the family trees, or somehow sucked down into the Go.D.S.E.E.D. itself...that maybe burying family trees wasn't actually such a good idea after all, or that perhaps the Go.D.S.E.E.D. itself *should* be dug up. Chuck also mentions feeling as if his own feet were turning into roots before he fell into his own vision, which sounds as if he were somehow becoming a plant/family tree...but who knows, it could definitely also refer to people being buried alive or trapped under rubble.

Frisco is a possibility, but I don't know enough about it to know whether they have the prevalence of billboards and such that NYC has - anyone else have an idea?

We got it guys! I'm starting a separate thread, as it entails a whole new location, dead drop, etc.
