Thanks! Now we can call off katsmom. ... off of you anyway... DragonGirl is still in danger. Laughing
That gives me 58. Can anyone tell me if I am caught up or still missing one?
Just to tease you.......wouldn't it be funny if it was all about getting others to take your code instead of how many codes you could get? Wink
That is a definite possibility. One that I considered. In any case, I think that I am covered. Wink

Re: Use of cards and a wiki

This is going to get to be impossible to track! Perhaps you need something more advanced that just a list. Even an Excel spreadsheet would be lacking -- it really calls for a relational database.

I don't know anything about databases but in my organizing of theories I was thinking of grouping cards by feature or topic and then just telling people yo use the search function and look for specific card number This also would eliminate duplicates that would occur if we listed theory by card number, but the search would be relatively simple. I don't know, just a suggestion.

Edit:Because some spelling mistakes are just embarrassing.
Pity that I missed the embarrassing typo. Laughing
Where were you planning on organizing your theories for searching? Really need to go on a wiki or something. Besides apparently no one here but me uses the search functions. Sad

Search functions are awesome. I hadn't really gotten that far-- and I start a new job (my first real one) tomorrow so It may be a little slow in coming--but I was going to see if I could post on wikibruce. Or I wondered if anyone would be interested in starting a full 39 clues wiki. Wikia might not work as the theories don't really have a place there. But Wikiadot could be a place. That is if there is any interest. As always I am open to suggestions.

And I will probably have a lot of typos for your amusement lol.. I try but my fine motor skills are below par and that doesn't bode well for correct typing without a few rounds of proof reading. Very Happy

To track the different connections of card to card, one could use web of sorts. The simplest ones would just have the card numbers attached to each other by lines, the more complex ones adding theories, reasons for attachments, pictures of cards...

Hmm... interesting idea.

P.S. You people reply too fast it keeps making me look at my post again

Like a webpage? With hyperlinks? That has possibilities. I really liked the 39 Clues google map project that Maggie had started. That could be used. As I recall, it has search functionality. And it would give a very nice geographical view that could get more theories going.

Re: I was looking at the clue finder guide

Is it possible when they make the next card pack (for books 4, 5, and 6) they would make a different for all the number cards? (Like a different card #1)
I doubt that they would make another card#1. It would make it too confusing. My guess would be that the card numbers will be unique; however, I was noticing some "decorations" on the cards and I wondered if they meant anything. I got out the trusty CFG and sure enough what I thought was a decoration in the upper let hand corner was the number "1" indicating that it was part of the first card pack (books 1-3). This information does not rule out your suggestion, I just think that it would make it awfully confusing if they did that. Besides, I think that the reason they started numbering the promo cards at 400 was to leave room for all the cards for all the books. Just my 2 cents...

I'd wager a guess that the numbering will continue at 74 with the new card set. Why else would they avoid those numbers with the promo cards?

Scholastic has said there will be about 350 cards total after all is said and done, so making the promos 400 and up to keep the numbering scheme free for all the planned cards makes perfect sense. Plus starting at 400 keeps us from finding out how many cards there will be exactly.

Doh! Alice beats me yet again. Darn my slow typing skills.

Not yet, but that's only because it hasn't been proven that you're psychotic or anything. Just give it some time. Wink

Thank You

Thanks for your response and help. Yes, I am new to this and thought I did it right. I am registered on the 39 clues website and have completed the first mission (still waiting for another one to arrive) but I wasn't sure where all the other games were coming from. Thank you for the links and letting me know abouth the card combining. I appreciate the help.

RE:Who are the Branch Leaders?

I think Mrs. Louisa Piccard may be the Janus leader. Her name was on the back of card 20.

For some reason, I had it in my mind that Cora Wizard (Jonas' mom) was the current Janus branch leader. Perhaps that's too obvious though.

Well we could use google sites but it would require a gmail address for anyone who wanted to contribute. I am sure the map would be easily integrated though as it is from google too. Or I have also used wikidot which is more like a wiki but you do need an account to post. I have no problem making the google site if people are willing /able to have a gmail account to contribute.

I looked around a little and I don't see anything as blatant as the Kabras being the Lucian branch leaders, though I did see where Cora is listed as the top Janus in Hollywood. I suppose that implies that she is not *the* leader; however, that is who Lan wrote to. I think that Mrs Piccard might have been the leader back in Mozart's time, but I suspect that someone else must have taken over by now.

I wasn't suggesting a google site. I don't think that requiring a gmail acct is a good idea. I didn't need a gmail account to edit the google map that Maggie created. I was suggesting that using google map to document everything sort of allows for another dimension. Maggie had typed in passages from the book and I am fairly certain that you can add in hyperlinks. I think that every card could be associated with at least one geographic location. IDK -- just an idea.

Welcome back! We have missed you!! Not all of the codes are on wikibruce, but they were updated as of the date listed. So, if you wanted to, you could search through just the last couple of days here. There are only a few.
