[META] August 24th Announcement

August 24th, 2004: The Bees Take Over the Forums

UnFiction, in its unending attempt to be more organized, is taking a small change in direction for the Halo2/I Love Bees August 24th Day O' Potential Doom.

Regarding the forums and axon coordinate reporting for August 24th:
  • Haunted Apiary forums will be closed to all new threads. Posts may be added to current threads, but new topics and threads can only be started by forum moderators and administrators.
  • Axon coordinate threads will be started in a temporary forum dedicated only to the coordinates. Threads there will include one for reporting locations, and a second thread for discussing what was found/happened at the coordinate locations. Off-topic posts will not be tolerated in these threads and will be moved accordingly by the moderators.
  • Once the flurry of posts has died down to more manageable levels, these temporary threads will be merged into the current Haunted Apiary forums. Forum restrictions will also be lifted at the discretion of the moderators and admins of the forums. We're expecting large numbers of people on the forums, and these restrictions will help to reduce the number of posts and threads and (hopefully) make things more manageable for all involved.
  • If there is a desperate need for a new thread, contact one of the forum moderators or site admins via PM or chat.

Chat on #beekeepers for August 24th:
  • Ops will be keeping the conversation in the chatroom strictly on topic. Off-topic discussion should be kept out of the chatroom.
  • Basic ILB questions can be addressed in #ilovebees
  • Remember your chat etiquette

Regarding the Wiki:
  • Yes. It's not working well. At this time, we're still working to fix it. In the meantime, there is a temporary wiki if it's desired.

As always, please keep the following in mind:
  • Label your posts. Label the threads, as well as label your actual replies to threads. This helps in searching the forums. Titling a thread or post "OK. Halo..." does not help. Please try to be specific in your labels
  • Search the forums prior to posting. I'm assuming most of what happens tomorrow will fall under the "Interaction" category and the "General/Updates" category. If we check those first for threads regarding "Coordinates Go Live" or some similar title, we can cut down on trouted and locked threads.
  • Play nice. Help your fellow players. If you stumble upon a trout post, link to a thread where the information has already been posted. Demonstrating that you've learned how to make a trout emoticon isn't a real brain-strain nor is it particularly helpful to anyone.
