Greetings,
This confidence is strictly private.
Australia is hosting an ambassadorial meeting, the subject of which I am unable to disclose to you, at this point.
This meeting is strictly off the record. Not secret exactly, but certainly low profile.
Obviously, traditional security measures are in place. However, I am no longer confident that these will be enough.
Our systems technician, Martin Bryce, a former cryptographer, sent me the following message this morning:
20 16 13 5 20 20 1 8 3 5 18 2 25 20 9 18 21 3 5 19 - - - - - 20 1 5 2 12 9 6 5 3 1 18 20
I'm sure you can see why I felt the need for increased security.
I am contacting you because I have noticed your involvement in ARG community – which seems to be a problem solving group of considerable capabilities.
I need to know if I can use your services in attempting to secure this meeting.
If you decline, please delete this email, and mention my attempt to contact you to no one.
If you accept, please reply as soon as possible.
Thank you,
Whenever I saw that the cryptographer was named Martin Bryce, it made me think that this was part of PO2... But I don't think his last name was Bryce...Tell me if I am wrong
edit: just renamed the thread title to be a little more descriptive tive and standard -thebruce

I told her that I accepted and this is what I got back...

Excellent.
I have great faith in your ability to help.
Please inform anyone else who would like to help with security to email me, and I will keep them informed.
The first thing I am asking you to do may appear menial, but I assure you, it is not.
The seating arrangements at the central negotiation table need to be decided before the conference can begin.
Seating is always a tentative issue, as certain countries have different alliances – it is necessary to draw up a seating plan.
It should look something like the picture attached.
It is traditional for the host to occupy seat number 1.
The Russians have made a point of requesting their delegate to sit next to the Japanese delegate. Russia is at odds to Chile, so its best to seat them so that the Russian occupies the seat directly opposite the delegate to the immediate right of the delegate from Chile (from the delegate from Chile's perspective.)
The American delegate also prefers to sit opposite the British delegate.
We know that France has been in conflict with China, so it's best to seat China opposite the delegate two seats left from the French delegate (From the French delegate's perspective). Also, the man to the right of the British delegate (from his perspective), should have the Australian delegate third around the table to his left.
Let me know when you have a plan.
Natalie.
Anyone that wants to solve the code and seating chart is more than welcome.. I will get to it if no one else does but I am having another crisis of my own

Not very good cryptographers...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Decimal to alpha gives:
T P M E T T A H C E R B Y T I R U C E S - - - - - T A E B L I F E C A R T
...which, by what I can tell, if flipped is:
"TRACE FILBE AT - - - - - SECURITY BREACH ATTEMPT"
And, for the record, Martin Bryce is the original name of Robert Redford's character in Sneakers .
No, I didn't have to look that up...

My guess for the seat table:
1 - Australia
2 - Chile
3 - America
4 - Japan
5 - Russia
6 - China
7 - Britain
8 - France
Looks fairly logical to me.

dunno, maybe rearranged to:
TRACE FILE BAT - - - - - SECURITY BREACH ATTEMPT
-Like this example script that monitors the Windows Oracle trace and dump directories for new occurrences of trace or dump files on the Windows server.: "SEND_TRACE.BAT" - my heady hurty on the table thing though, I need sleep now...

I sent an email asking if we could invite others to help, but I guess I'll just recall that now.
