Whoah. Is the guy just having some fun, or have we found a new in-game character?

Interesting that he cites the Hoopeston poster as the only work he's done for Synydyne. Which heavily suggests that his recent connection to TIMM is not through Synydyne, but through MTC/Black Star.

Also note that Wulf asked about Milwaukee, and Martin responded by saying MTC.

The plot thickens.

EDIT: Is this a clue that we should focus on that poster? Remember that weird quote about cavemen and spacemen? Remember how that ties in to the tin foil man that looks like a space man (and is also in a Howcast video by Synydyne, which again links Synydyne and Nim)?

to be concise, the link was just to the portfolio page, on which Hoopeston happens to be the default content (rather than linking straight to Hoopeston). just sayin'

True, but in the email he specifically indicates the "first one". And after reading the heading on the Hoopeston poster - it doesn't fit with what that documentary is about - or even really with TIMM. But the fact it doesn't go along with the documentary makes it even more suspicious.

Here's the heading on the poster:
Quote:
We are the last of the planet-dwelling cavemen.
Either we're gonna destroy ourselves here -

or we're gonna escape, and we're gonna become another type of man
out there in space

Now that I read through that - it almost sounds like a song. Anyway - my 2 cents.

EDIT: I couldn't find any songs with those lyrics...

EDIT 2 - Also there appears to be a constellation drawn on the background. Does it overlay well with anything?

I just got through to the guy who designed the This Is My Milwaukee video website. I got the impression from his brief "ask what you want" answer, that he's not involved, but we'll see where it goes.

Or he's not at liberty because he doesn't want to ruin the game for anybody. Or participate in it.

As this guy is a graphic designer, maybe someone (preferably Wulf, since they've already corresponded) should ask him straight up about the poster. Also, has anyone actually seen the docu yet? It'd make sense to me that the quote, as non sequitur as it may seem, is related in some way to the film.

Otherwise, if Hoopeston is somehow related and IG--well, that's going to open up a lot of different pathways for us, I reckon, but I still have a really hard time believing it has anything to do with TIMM at all.

I've signed up on the google group to get information about the documentary, which will be out on DVD "sometime."

No word yet from that quarter.

I'm happy to email him back, I'll have to take care of it later today when I get off work.

I'm personally torn as to whether this is IG or not - there are strange coincidences, and then things that point to it being completely OOG. We had a pretty good discussion in IRC last night. One thing that points to it being IG is that MTC funded it, and interviewed Larose Burton. One of the thoughts on that was, that MTC appears to be definitely IG only - and if that's the case then Larose Burton is also only IG. So if MTC funded it. And on and on - you get the idea.

He seems OOG, although nothing is for sure. I emailed Martin today with

Quote:
Hi Martin,

I have a friend at the MTC who said you did great work with them, and pointed me to your website. While I was surfing it, I noticed the excellent poster you made for Hoopeston. What caught my eye though is the text blurb at the top: "We are the last of the planet dwelling cavemen. Either we're going to destroy ourselves here -- or we're gonna escape and we're gonna become another type of man out there in space." That quote sounds very familiar to me, but I can't place it. It's been bugging me all day. Is it a song lyric? Is it from the documentary? What is it's significance? Surely you know what I'm referring to.

Anyways, great work with the Hoopeston poster and with the MTC website.

Seasons greetings and happy new year,

My name

and got this response:

Quote:
It's a quote from the documentary (about small towns, corn, wicans etc.) the poster promotes.

Welp, that almost seems to cinch it being OOG. But then there's the problem with MTC funding the video - as well as Larose Burton offering interviews for it.

It's pulling us in both directions. I wish we had some sort of hard clarification one way or the other.

The teacher of the Witch school says it in the preview. I believe it's just a quote from the film.

I suppose this is the most appropriate place to post this-

I sent a letter to the MTC's PO Box the first day we discovered the video. I just received that letter back... Return To Sender, Not Deliverable As Addressed =(

That's weird... We verified that it was a real PO Box right?

Who did you address it to? the MTC?

Should someone try addressing it to Black Star? Or something else?

Yes, it does appear to be a real post office box. I addressed it to the Milwaukee Tourism Commission, as it was given on the TIMM website. Perhaps one of the PMs registered it under their own name, and mail addressed to the MTC wouldn't be accepted?

The return label does also state "Unable To Forward"... so the box could be set up to forward mail (like, if they filed a 'change of address' form). Whatever the case, do not 'use as directed'.

I tried to call Mike a few minutes ago. I got a message saying "the number you are trying to call is not reachable". Has anyone else had trouble getting through? Normally it just goes to voicemail or tells me the mailbox is full...

Following up on this, I called Mike Russo's # and got the same 'out of service' message. A phone company message, not a voicemail thing. So I called the MTC to see if Joey could tell me what was up. Got him, and told him about Russo's #... he said that he hadn't heard from Mike all day, so maybe this was why. I told him I was concerned, because of Russo's recent run in with the Go.D.S.E.E.D. fragment. He said that Russo seems to ALWAYS be having run-ins with fragments, almost every weekend. But that some people would call him a real bender of the truth (or something to that effect).

Anyway, I asked him if he thought Russo was okay, and if I could reach him some other way. He just said that I could try e-mailing him.
