Hello,

I sent this to my friends on our daily email thread, and one of them said it could be for this weird Milwaukee videogame, and sent me a link to this page.

The envelope was taped under the table and had a picture of a weird heart on it, I will also scan it when I get home tonight, I didn't think that would be important. The paper I posted the picture of is exactly how I found it. I was at Gratitude in the morning, in the greenhouse.

What is this for, is it like a prank or something? Does the drawing on the paper mean something?

Land Tuna: I just took this picture a few minutes ago, and I live in San Francisco.

I don't really know if there's anything else that would be helpful.

Thanks,
Trent

Trent,

The paper you found is part of an Alternate Reality Game. It's an interactive story that uses puzzles to advance the story, and those puzzles often blend the real world and the internet. Look at the two links above for more infomation. We were supposed to find that envelope and figure out what it means.

Thank you again. This is not a prank--it is a clue for a puzzle in a game. So, yes the drawing does mean something, which will have to be figured out.

Yes, please post a scan of the heart too, when you get a chance.

You were there in the morning, before me. I know I would have seen that had it been there! Very Happy

Tell me (yes, I know I am probably being pesty here), were you at the table closest to the bathrooms? The one directly to your right as you enter the greenhouse from the cafe?

This is my last comment on this, since I feel like I'm detracting from the fun of the puzzle. The camera time can't be screwed up because it's on a cell phone (LG VX-8550). The cell phone gets its time from the cell towers. If you ever get off a plane in a different time zone, you'll notice that the time on your phone fixes itself within a minute or two of being turned on.

I just watched the video that Josh mentioned in our email this morning. None of that was filmed in Milwaukee, it looks like Central Park. (I grew up in New York and visit often.) One of the street signs is clearly Bleeker street. This is a major street in New York City.

Land Tuna: I don't know what you are talking about, I don't see a stamp or any time written on the map?? Are you saying this is supposed to be from the future? I do not have an LG phone and the time on the screen is working perfectly. It is a Chocolate II, with mp3.

My blackberry has to be set to autotime. I am lazy and have not done it.

I don't think it matters too much whether Trent is a random good samaritan who stumbled on the clue like he says, or whether the PMs are simply trying to push things along after realising the trips to the cafe are costing the players real money and possibly annoying the staff there. It's the next bit of the puzzle that we've been waiting for for days, we should be happy we have it and not criticise the poster's cel phone settings or whatever.

By the way, speaking for myself if I found something like that in a public place I'd definitely try to get to the bottom of it one way or another, and I expect a lot of other people would too, so it's entirely possible Trent is being completely truthful here.

Bruno, the Chocolate 2 is a model of phone manufactured by LG. Please note that I'm not calling you out at all, I'm willing to believe this is it unless proven otherwise, but people being people, we're going to question everything. Please don't take it too personally, we're just trying to watch every angle.

Yeah, the video was shot in New York City. We don't know why.

It's UF policy that PMs don't post on the game forums. If they did, it would open up the floodgates for confusion - like we see happening in this thread, when there's doubt about the reality of a person or character, we become suspicious of each other and of information we're sharing, which undermines the trust the community relies on, and interferes with the real game and the real puzzles.

This is a little too intense for me. I have a Chocolate II because I wanted a phone that had mp3, and this one has it. It is not an LG. I understand that you aren't trying to be rude but I have never done this before and being doubted when I am trying to help people with a puzzle game is not a great feeling, it is overwhelming if you are not used to this kind of thing. I wish you luck with solving it but I don't think I will be posting any more.

Trent,

The front of your phone has a big "LG" on it.

Trent,
If you don't want to offer your help any longer, could you at least tell us if this is what the weird heart on the envelope looks like?

Brunobruno - Thanks for helping us out with this puzzle. We really appreciate it. I think I speak for everyone here when I say we consider ourselves lucky that the person who found the envelope had the tech savvy to find this forum and post here.

Speaking for myself, you've proven to me that you're a real person. I think you just caught everyone here by surprise. I don't post too much on here myself, but I'd say that in general people aren't as suspicious as they might seem.
