I'm sure Brunobruno understands why some of us are suspicious, but either way we have what we need and no harm has come from it. Let's all just move along and continue being diligent. Very Happy

Also: Man, we sure have some clever people on these forums. I continue to be impressed.

It's UF policy that PMs don't post on the game forums. If they did, it would open up the floodgates for confusion - like we see happening in this thread, when there's doubt about the reality of a person or character, we become suspicious of each other and of information we're sharing, which undermines the trust the community relies on, and interferes with the real game and the real puzzles.

I dunno, I think an ARG that incorporated that well would be pretty goddamn fun, and has potential to be freaky as hell. >>

Though this would not be that game. Razz

All doubts aside, I think that looks a lot like a Dark Dollar.

I just gotta say, some of y'all are getting a little crazy. You guys really went after this person that came to help us, and you don't need to be getting all pissed off for spending $34 in a nice little new age-y cafe. If you don't have $34 to spend at a cafe, and think that what they are trying to do is stupid, don't go.

I feel bad for this guy who came in to try to help us, and I feel bad for the waitstaff at the cafe who had to put up with some pissy customers.

I was the person who spent $34 there. I was not a pissy customer. I do not know where you get the idea that I was a bad customer. The service wasn't that good (but I left a decent tip anyway because it wasn't horrendous), but I did not complain about the service when I told my story--I just made fun of the weird names of the food at the restaurant and the "affirmations." You say if I think "what they are trying to do is stupid, don't go." Well, first of all, I don't know what you mean--what who is trying to do? I went to try to find an item for the people playing this ARG and I had to order something, which is fine if going to a restaurant is my main objective. I am allowed to think that $3.50 (before tax and tip) is rather pricey for a cup of Earl Grey tea. I didn't complain about anything to the waitstaff. I was cordial to them. I told the server that the soup was delicious, which it was. I was not pissed off about anything either--perhaps a little irked about the trip being a waste since I didn't get the item I went to find, but going to the cafe itself was interesting, in any event.

As for Baronbaron, I agree that some people were rude to him in here and that was uncalled for. It's too bad and I wish he would reconsider for the people who were not rude to him, but I can't really blame him.

pita, I for one think you were gracious and even-handed in your handling of attempting a cache retrieval for a game you hardly had knowledge of beforehand. That's always tough, because you don't want to let the player community down, but it can be really disconcerting to go do something without knowing the lay of the land. I know I went through it twice - with Art of the Heist, and with the Omnifam/Alias game, and both time there were CLOWNS and why oh WHY must there always be clowns??? And it was a little difficult not to feel dumb sometimes, like OH, if only I had known about such-and-such or some passcode, but luckily I had a pretty good time both times, and they make for good stories.

Anyway, it's exciting enough, right, when you're playing a game, and you're in a city where there's something left for you to get and solve and hold in your hands like a real true Indiana Jones artifact, and you INSTANTLY know what it's for, etc.

I think it adds a whole 'nother layer of mystery and weird when you're there doing something when you have practically NO context nor prior connection to the narrative at hand.

So, pita, here is my round of applause for doing your best with having gotten instructions for the dead drop only the night before, without any real sense of context! Woot!

How's THAT for an affirmation? Very Happy haha.

I second what krystyn said pita and thank you not only for going to get the drop but also for reporting on your experience so thoroughly. You really went above and beyond the call of duty for the rest of us.

Reconsidering, yeah, I only agree about driving away the guy who found the drop accidentally. I thought some people were incredibly rude to him. As far as Pita goes, though, what she did is awesome. I think I was mostly just still kind of annoyed about what happened with the new guy.
