[Trailhead] Stop the Genocide

Just got this email and sent out the following reply for some more information.

I don't know who you are. I don't know if you are a potential ally or our worst foe. And I don't know how you are linked to The Database. But we need your assistance.

We only wanted food...that's it. But the Upper Volta regime doesn't care about us. They desired to fatten their pockets with our labor and our wealth, and refused to help us when we needed their help the most. When a number of us assembled peacefully, demanding for food...they killed everyone. Men. Women. Children. All because of the color of our skin. That's when we begun our Crusade, to overthrow this evil regime.

The Capital is in chaos, caused by the incompetence of the Upper Volta regime, and their corporate allies, The Database. Parts of the Capital is under our control...but we still have no food, and the Upper Volta military is being deployed to murder every last of us. People are dying out in the streets, and if you stand back idly, you are contributing to their misery. The Upper Volta Regime has to be stopped. Every one of the Regime has to be punished for their crimes against humanity.

Consider me here to help. But I need a little more information. What sort of Database is it that I was listed in? And what is it that I can do to help?

Phew, child killers. Count me in for a full on assault. Evil or Very Mad

...Wow.

I can't believe it. Receiving tons and tons of emails, just from following up on a lead. Who to trust? Who not to trust? At least this plan has exceeded my wildest expectation.

How can you help us? Hm. Right now, our men are laying siege to the Presidential Palace. I know that the enemy is hold up in there, and I am afraid they may receive reinforcements. Our agents indicate that about, say, 50 military goons and the President of the Upper Volta Republic there. If we can break through before reinforcements arrive, then we will be able to win and only have to mop up the remaining loyalists.

There's just one problem. We don't know how to break through. Our attacks are pitiful, the enemy quickly rebuild whatever barricades we tear down. We need your help on that. And quickly."

If you want my help, I'll need some information. Since you do not fully trust me, which I understand, how about telling me the basics of their defenses and simply leave out your placements. That can help me formulate a strategy, and you don't risk any information.

Umm... yeah. I really don't know how to stage assaults on palaces.

But here to giving it a shot!

Not sure if I was correct or not, but I sorta kinda asked for an inventory of firepower and number of men, as well as supplies.

Oi! Now it's a party! (By the by, every time I look at that avatar I can't help but think "Hmm, guess we should call him a cereal killer..." Laughing)

@Driver, I basically got the same response. Just a little bit different on the top.
Quote:
All we know is that you are presumably part of The Database, an organization that is linked to the corrupt Upper Volta government. The Database basically bribed the Upper Volta government to let their goons into the area, where they can go and conduct 'research' activities in ancient ruins. It's obivous that they seek to exploit us, and only using these activities as an excuse to spy on us. We know this because The Database has a "military wing".

[Then a repeat of Driver's message about the assault]

Quote:
Well, I assure you, I have no part in The Database. And if what you say is true, I certainly want no part of them. I guess that definitely puts me on your side. Once this attack is is over however, I would certainly be interested in hearing about what types of ancient ruins they were investigating.

For now though, focusing on your siege seems prudent. However, I fear that I fail to see how I can be of any assistance from here (where are you currently by the way?). I do take some pride in being a fairly good strategist, but I still don't really have enough information to go on. Perhaps if you could get me a schematic or something of the like, I might be able to identify weak points in the Palace's barricades. Or any other information you might find relevant. Like how many fighters do you have at your disposal, is it night or day there, what types of weaponry/assets/tools/etc. do you have access to, the Volta as well. Or if there's any other way you can think of for me to help, just name it.

To Vedi,

Sorry for not contacting you soon. Power in the area has been...intermittent. You and your men have been contacting me, and I don't think I'll have enough time to craft replies to all of them. Just send this all to them.

First, a map.
Random Dungeon Map Image

The arrow represents the main entrance, which is where we are trying to break through, while the President's goons continue to barricade. The main entrance is their weak spot, we know that, and we need to break through there in order to triumph.

That dark square represents the bedroom of the President, it's obvious he's hold up there. The two oval rooms to the left of the President's bedroom are where all their food supplies are being kept in order to hold out from the siege until reinforcements would arrive. There's some strange, squarish room that is down the hall from the President's office, that I believe is where the military store their guns and ammo.

As I mentioned, there are 50 military goons and the President. On our side, we have 10,000 men, ill-organized and prone to in-fighting. They're only united by their hatred of the President. We have no guns or weapons of any type, nothing but standard fists and any household items we can find, like pitchforks and cricket bats.

If you and your men need any other information, just email me, and I'll tell you what else I know.

I think we all just became a mercenary outfit or something of the like. Twisted Evil I love it.

It seems we now have a General Vadi =P

I suggest we go into the circular rooms and try to grab whatever is there to build a makeshift base or barricade, with others stealthing down to grab ammunition.

I am a benevolent General (except when it comes to the enemy) and all my men are equal. So if he only wants to answer me for now, then post all questions and strategies and I'll send him a good long letter on behalf of all of us.

And, psst I think the current problem is actually breaking through the barricade to get in.

Edit: *listens to the crickets* Erm, here's my suggestions. More strategies to add, any other questions, comments, anything?
Quote:
Just a few more questions, I promise. What is the building constructed of? And although this isn't going to sound very friendly, how much of an ally side casualty percentage are you willing to risk?

Some thoughts. If possible, fire is a good and easy way to back your enemies into a corner, especially in an enclosed space. Depending on the specifics of the situation, you could merely set fire to the entire building and force them to flee or die. Or break a hole through the barricade and set damp wood burning to smoke them out or asphyxiate. Or also break a hole through the barricade and send through firebombs.

Molotov cocktails are simple to make -- fill glass bottles with gasoline or other highly flammable substances such as high grain alcohol or turpentine. Roll a rag to fill the opening. Light and toss for lots of flame. Thickening agents such as tar, sugar, animal blood, foam, egg whites, motor oil, rubber cement, and dish soap can be added to the fuel to produce an effect something like napalm in that it will adhere to targets and create clouds of thick choking smoke.

Another option is to toss in bottles of an equal parts bleach/ammonia mixture. This results in chlorine gas, a very effective airborne poison. It is very important that you don't follow the bottles in, as this will kill off all your men as well.

A force of ten thousand doesn't do any good if they're just going to run at the first sign of trouble. Take Washington's approach, and isolate the true fighters into a small combat unit. Then rush the barricade with the main force, and have them peel away when ever they get close enough. The fighting unit should be in the middle of the fleeing force, and they should be given priority over weapons and ammunition. If they can take the barricade then the rest should flood the hall and food storage, while the fighters take the ammo dump. Then hold there for further instructions.

At least that's how I'd do it Embarassed

I would too, but they're on the offensive, with a time limit. The enemy has a secure position, better armaments, and enough food to hold out for reinforcements.

Apologies on the silence. From my understanding, there was only a barricade by the president's bedroom, my bad. I would also advise destroying the barrier with something like molotovs. Also, alternative options: Grab scrap metal to defend/arm them with, if any is nearby.
