as hex codes, it produces
%25%37%34%25%36%38%25%36%46%25%37%32%25%36%35%25%36%31%25%37%35%25%37%37%25%36%31%25%37%33%25%37%32%25%36%39%25%36%37%25%36%38%25%37%34
treat the numbers as hex chars in ascii, it produces
%74%68%6F%72%65%61%75%77%61%73%72%69%67%68%74

Trip hex eh? Crazy. So what was Thoreau right about? I did a little research but nothing too special came to light

I was wondering if it was Fred Davis, or maybe Fred is the next guy Mother Nature has taken?
EDIT: I looked around as well. There was someone (or a few ppl) using that name in various places. It appears that was around Dec. of last year that he/she was most active.

I'm not sure of the exact reference but Henry David Thoreau sounds like someone mother_nature would agree with. He was a naturalist (read about his Later Years and Beliefs).

I think the most common 'thoreau was right' quote is basically:
I think Thoreau was right,"most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them"
but perhaps the idea is just that "Thoreau was right" is his 'thing'. As in - "Thoreau was right, [place quote here]"

I *sigh* for the American educational system...
How about "Disobedience is the true foundation of liberty. The obedient must be slaves." or "A man is rich in proportion to the number of things he can afford to let alone." Or even "Distrust any enterprise that requires new clothes."
Here's a page.
http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/h/henry_david_thoreau.html
"Any fool can make a rule, and any fool will mind it." Though that sounds more like Twain or Bierce, doesn't it?
ETA: @bruce>> Nice solve!

stuff. With the intro of the strange machine and the often quoted Thoreau, early environmentalist and author of the essay Civil Disobedience , this takes on a less SAW-like and (imo) more interesting The Unibomber Manifesto quality.
Good that The Bruce and not the media saw mother_nature's msg cuz they'de Nevah have cracked that. Personally not commenting on what Thoreau was right about but this one pretty much mirrors mother_nature's "I STAY TRUE TO MY WORDS":
Thoreau wrote:
Be true to your work, your word, and your friend
Props Atropanocturna. Just what is mother_nature working on & why is a tech testing Co. called Grand Gaia (mother earth)?

I send off some emails to Grand Gaia and got two replies.

YOU WILL FIND THAT EVERYTHING IS MUCH MORE CONNECTED THAN IT SEEMS
(9:26pm)
EDIT (to avoid a double post): It's interesting to me that both messages are in all caps. I think it's an obvious way of connecting G.G. with Mother_Nature.
Though the TINAG aspect is still creepy with the first message. Blah.

Also sent a mail to Grand Gaia and got 2 replies in mother_nature's RED caps. Actually didn't ask any questions though.

Agree that these TINAG incidents(sounds ominous)are YUK yet maybe forgiven in the spirit of the Holidays and self interest.

Maybe it's a stretch, but I am thinking we might need to find this journal of Fred's, that Cunningham wrote about in the blog. I tried EVERYTHING I could think of at Blogspot, Livejournal, etc... but came up with nothing.
He has said that he is supplying clues, so, I would definitely look into the wording of those emails. There must be something he is trying to get across.
These emails from G.G./M_N do seem ominous. But it's at least a cheery thought that nothing comes up in any search for a REAL missing Evan Smith or Fred Davis
The fact that this guy is a attention whore might be good in an OOG aspect, he's probably enjoying the attention so much that the game will never slow to one of those screeching halts.

Small update on the News Section at Grand Gaia Industries
Quote:
BREACH: People who recently submitted a contact form were sent emails recently. Please ignore any message or threat that was recieved. The issue is being studied by our experts and has hopefully been resolved.
Let's hope not too quickly as the more creepy emails the merrier. Also did some blog, journal and/or Thoreau club with no joy.
EDIT: interesting update about the "Machine" on the The Evan Smith Situation blog.
