Mexico Hi!
Hello from Mexico!
about this project> Excellent and quite necessary idea, i think!
Count on me for anything ARG related in Mexico , where I will be living for the near future. Fantastic setting and lots of storytelling potential, as well as a great pool of potential gamers.
Contact me if the idea catches your eye. I-d be more than willing to collaborate on any project you may have, and learn from your experience.

For anyone interested in PEI, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia (which is probably nobody, but get over here guys!) I'm here to drop things in Eastern Canada.

Beyond Excellent Idea Natas, this is an exceptional idea. When we were running our ARG, we had limited resources on how to get things from here to anywhere with any guarantee that what we needed dropped or secreted would get follow through.
Having something like this available, where networking could get a dead drop into an area that simply isn't practical for the PM could seriously expand the reach and the interactive excitement potential of all ARGs that aren't excessively bankrolled.
I have to agree with Faeryqueen that the courier shouldn't be part of the game, if they do know their mission is part of the game. However, maybe they could be given some kind of extra prop for being generous, and it could be fit into the game, even if they are playing it - sort of like when a PM does a trailhead mailing, or designates a "player assistant?".

I think this is a great idea, but in the meantime, there are some great resources out there if you need to place a cache and don't have anyone on location.
For Eldritch, we were in a bit of a pickle for one of our locations and so I contacted a geocaching group in the area. They hooked me up with someone who was familiar with placing puzzle caches and was familiar with the location where I wanted to place the cache (actually, she worked there!).
While it required a bit of a leap of faith to send off the cache to a stranger, it turned into an ideal situation and I've already got dreams of my next big game involving the geocaching community (both in placing and retrieving caches). There's a lot of commonality between ARGers and geocachers - we each seem to enjoy a mystery, a hunt, and a challenge. And, if you think about it, geocaching is just another form of collaborative play with strangers.
So, if you have a really good idea of a location for a dead drop, don't let the lack of friends (or ARG volunteers) in the area stop you. Look into local groups that would "understand" or "get it" - geocachers are just one example of many. There's always a way if you put a bit of creative thinking into it

I'm sure there will be changes, but "I'm new.. I'm new.. I don't know what to do!"
Hope it's a useful resource and i hope to get more available areas.
Anyone wanting to volunteer, Gimme a holler.

Looks good natas. You can add me to the list for O'ahu Hawai'i. It turns out that there is a fairly active geocaching community in Hawai'i as well, FWIW. email comin' at ya.

Outstanding! and the wheels kick in.... thinking of all the ARG coolness this resource can make possible.
Thank you natas and everyone that is volunteering. I'm in So Cal, and that seems to be covered, but if you need anyone else in So Cal (more like San Fernando Valley), I'll sign up. Just let me know.

Great idea, natas!
I'm in. You can put me in the Database for Germany (Especially Frankfurt and say 50 km around)
Since I have no car, I cannot place it in Berlin or Munich. But I can ask our Patmo people for it! I'll drop the message here (or they will do it, since they are also registered here).
P.S. Done

This is fantastic! I'm a new englander myself and would be more then willing to help anyone out. I've also got some serious connections all over the world (Tennessee, California, Oregon, Washington State, Georgia, Brazil, Australia and England to name a few) and I'm sure that those people would be more then willing to help out. I hope you don't mind if I post the link to the website on another forum for a bunch of others to see and ask them to sign up through me.

Wait, WTF. Oahu? Seriously? There's another ARGer here? And you're a geocacher?

Yeah, I'm on O'ahu. No, I'm not a geocacher, mostly because I don't have a gps of any sort. I just looked for cache's one day and realized they're all over the place. There are like half a dozen on the UH campus (which I'm close to) alone. A couple I know almost exactly where they are but haven't taken the time to dig them out, yet. Keep meaning to...

Amusing. UFers are so fickle.
It is an excellent idea...and when *I* proposed it ages ago, like a year ago, the locals here decided it was entirely too paranoia inducing to consider. Least the ones in this bunch aren't such candyasses, and are willing to consider a good idea when they see it.
