The obvious choice there are the materials listed on page 1 of Haven -- which are things like wood and iron and brass.

I agree. After Mike said that some Dark Dollars are made of brickacite, I attempted a mapping between Dark Dollar symbols and Important Materials. (We've learned some things since my post, though...)

Just sent a resume for the Re-Seater position. I sent an email awhile ago with a query, but haven't gotten anything back. I included a picture of me with my "family tree." I like the pic, because I look somewhat insane.

Let's see if that does anything.

BTW, I had chicken with garlic and fennel for dinner tonight, and it was delicious.

BBall app

I need some tech help! If I get a menacing photo of myself, can someone photoshop a basketball into it? I suppose I would have to post the prototypes onto Photobucket first? Arrrggh!

BBall app

Here is my attempt at a Bball photo. In lieu of an actual three-dimensional basketball, I am holding a (basically) two-dimensional plate. Anyone with photoshop skills?

Oh wow, that is frightening.

I sent my resume for the management position right after the PDF was released. I just sent my real resume. Maybe I should do something more creative?

I'll take that as a compliment. The instructions stated "try to look tough and mean, like you're ready for a fight..."

Whoa whoa, that thing belongs underground. D:

I am appalled at you. Look, you can see that it's already giving off small, flickering lights.

if no one gets to your pic by tomorrow (Sunday), i'll drop a pic of a Bball in there for you. shouldn't be a problem. if you can locate a pic of a basketball and post it here (roughly the right size would be good, but not necessary), before tomorrow that would be great. otherwise i'm sure a Google search of images will turn up something in no time at all.

if it's ok with you, i'll use the top pic. looks more menacing and the spot for the ball is perfect.

peace...

Re: BBall app

Sorry it's not better, time is short right now during the holidays, but it should work in a pinch.

Many, many thanks! You truly are blessed! I will email my application in at once. Smile
Here is my cover letter:
Mr. Lewis:

Please consider me for the starting for the starting forward position with the Milwaukee Blackstar Hoopsters. I look forward to your response. My non-marking outsoles stand ready for action, and I own quite a selection of sweatbands. Also, I feel compelled to add that my lightning-quick reflexes more than compensate for my disproportionately short arms.

Sincerely,

Beebo "Short Stuff" Mnumhken

It's not necessarily a female-only team: they could be just using "her" as an alternative to "his/her" or something like that.

Even though Chuck used 'her' in a kind of shim/zie/it function, I'm wondering if there's not more to this considering that junior re-seeders have to be female -- is there some kind of value/skill women have? Do they work better underground with the family trees? It is a mystery.

Also, MNUMHKEN, you look MENACING! You are so ready for a fight (or a big dinner)!

I was just thinking along those lines, rosemilk! I think it's really interesting that the Junior Re-seeder position is the ONLY one that has an explicit gender constraint.

This makes me go back to the "rebirth" line in the TIMM video. Members on this forum have already made the connection between fennel (Family Trees) and the death of Go.D.S.E.E.D fragments. After the fragments were destroyed, nature reemerged. Women, traditionally, are linked to ideas of fertility; consider "Mother Nature" or "Mother Earth," for example.

Perhaps women are the only ones who can reseed the land because of the link to birth and fertility? Maybe, rosemilk, women don't necessarily have a special skill so much as a special "natural" ability.

Has anyone specifically applied for this position?

Just sent my application for the Junior Re-Seeder position. I wonder if no one is getting responses because their applications are not meeting criteria? Remember that MOST of the jobs require you to have a cover letter, resume, and state your preferred YEARLY salary (in DD, of course).

Since we're not too sure about the value of Dark Dollars or what a standard salary is, I listed my preferred income like this:

Negotiable minimum of $50 Dark Dollars/Year

This way, I figured I won't shoot myself in the foot by requesting too much money. The "negotiable" seemed like a good way to deal with that little hump.

I also requested that I get a response upon the receipt of my email to make sure the attachment opened correctly. Here's keeping my fingers crossed.

Good luck fellow applicants!

The original video offered a 5000 dark dollar relocation stipend plus two free years of Blackstar housing.
