To be honest, I think it's a lot of time for not much return. But who knows, a pattern might be found. It's like the 400 cards, there are only 5 number letter combinations to type in for the missing 4 cards, but how many different combinations does that come to? 10's of 1000's I'd guess. What would be the point of a database of used codes? I can't really see a useful one. (Maybe that's because I have all the cards now though)

I'm siding with Maggie on this one . If I got a 60, I could get decent money. But I got lucky and Wind Lane traded a 60 with me for the last 3 cards he needed. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

And sadly, with the holidays and everything, I haven't mailed it out yet. I'm glad we traded codes first; keeps everything pretty on the level.

But I did have one slightly shameful thing to note - those cards weren't to complete my set...........they're to complete my second set.

Wow, two sets. If you dont mind me asking, how much did the two sets cost you?

No clue. I bought a bunch early on to complete my first set and then gave my first double of any cards I had to my niece plus some packs I bought her for her birthday (she's got almost all the cards, but I don't know that she's all that interested as she hasn't asked for any more). Since then I buy a pack every now and again just for fun, and decided to get that second complete set after I got my second card #60 in my second or third of those casual single pack purchases.

Getting the third #60 card was actually pretty annoying as one of the cards I was missing for that second set was a common card.

And, katsmom, with only 5 random numbers for those 400 level cards they can do 3.2 million different codes. I hope you understand why I won't be trying a brute force decoding for those last few cards. Wink

The only use for a database like that from my point of view is for other people to refer to if they want to try "brute force" to get a card. That's already like cheating because some other guy who got the actual code wont be able to use it at all. Besides that, i dont see any other "good" use for it.

Playing with Rubik's cubes for the past 20 years, I knew the number would have to big. I didn't realize it was THAT big. (I can't do the big math Wink ) I don't blame you for not "brute forcing" it. I had decided against it when I realized it was 5 combinations for just the same reason.

I will second that. It's one thing to brute force a missing letter from a surveillance card that has been freely given, a totally different thing to take codes from viable cards.

I have a feeling that Scholastic has already thought of this possibility though because they have a contact bit on the webpage for cards that don't work. My thought is people might get the numbers by brute force, or just by opening the books so they are prepared for the possibility.

I wish anybody with the skill, bravery, courage and nothing better to do with their time good luck if you decide to take on the brute force challange of the 400 cards. Whoever succeeds in this "deadly" and time-consuming task will be awarded the rank of "Obcessed 39 Clues Maniac".

FEW WILL ENTER, ONE WILL SURVIVE.

Anybody willing to try?

And just because YOU didn't have a clue doesn't mean I didn't look at the Cahill Web.

If you look here you will see my post about him. By the way, if you read all 24 pages at that time you would have seen it on page 20

My place or yours Evil or Very Mad Some people!
OK, calm down... take a deep breath. Geez. I was admitting that I missed your post. Mea culpa.

Laughing OK. But the web page still isn't fixed. Oh well. I really wanted to fight with someone. Wink darn.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, I keep looking at my cards, but so far no Christmas presents for me from Scholastic Sad One more day I suppose, maybe Santa will deliver them for me.

On the help page, there is mention of forums. Is there one planned for later?

It will be great fun if "a man in black" comes to your "humble abode" to deliver the card codes on Christmas. That will be so cool, wont it?

He'd scare the living daylights out of me. I'd much prefer the fat man in the red suit who says Ho! Ho! Ho! (Linus)

Just an odd question now, why do we have 4 different types of money cards?

I was thinking of compiling all the used cards and looking for a pattern. like the "g69" and "9t" stuff. that way, you could know the name of the card before you entered it into your account(I'm talking about SASE codes) and then trade and so forth.

In order to help with trading the SASE codes, I created a Card Identifier page on the wiki, so I could track which codes went with which cards, so I could trade my extras.

Who knows, maybe they will fix it. And Ekatprof, the link you gave is the one you get when you are in the cards. I am looking for the one from the "Cahill web" search function. It is just odd to me that it doesn't work.

I'm not sure what scholastic will do. I don't think George McClain is even mentioned in the Cahill web, just on the Card 5 article and in mission 1. So if they do anything, they will either remove him from the search page, or have it send you to a Loch Ness Monster link that doesn't really mention him.

I was just looking at this and my card 12 ends in C6. Not F6

Now you must have a different page than I do, because if you click here you will see he is the first name under the G's. I would realy like to see what was supposed to be there-that is if they remove his name. But he must have something to do with the game. Afterall, he does have a card Wink

asshat

Not familiar with that term "asshat". Is it something like this? Dunce

Would you also be considered an asshat when you don't correct a wiki entry that was accidentally a mistake, as opposed to doing it deliberately? Or is there another term for that? ... just trying to get my terminology correct. Laughing

Well, we probably have different types of money cards so that we have to buy more card packs to obtain all the cards. As usual, scholastic will be making tons of money out of this just like Pokemon or baseball cards. Secondly, maybe its just boring to have only one type of money card.

P.S: i thought we have THREE types of money cards.
